Evening Ed,

Happy New year to you sir.

You mentioned Kia would once again push to get Coutinho in to the club. Sky are now reporting that 5 Premier league clubs are interested and have stated that his future should be decided by the weekend. Do you know if Arsenal are actually considering it at all?

Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - Yes they are.}

Not sure where how how he would fit into the team. I mean we are struggling to fit Smith rowe into the team let alone adding coutinho.

I fear Coutinho is wrong on all levels, feels like a step backwards. Signing 'older' experienced players hasn't worked out at all, ala Luiz, Willian, Mkhitaryan etc. Our new policy of exciting youth is showing rewards now, Coutinho could derail progress. We are fully stocked at AM, as mentioned, ESR can't get a start currently. DMF or box to box cover is much more important. Guimaraes or Renato Sanches would be a much better option for me.

I genuinely think Coutinho is a good player, just totally not needed.

Maybe Arteta sees Martinelli as a central attacker in the (near) future (don't forget we're going to lose Laca in the summer) and that might be a reason for us to sign Coutinho. He definitely IS a great player, but I'm not sure whether signing him would help in the long term or not. I'd rather have Arteta sign a powerful striker now.

I wonder with Laca and Auba moving on whether he is the older, more experienced player to help the youngsters?
