not that this is some ground breaking discovery, but what strength of scouting do we have in south america?

just taking a vague look at some strikers, aka the most glamorous, rewarding and critical position in any team

Messi, Falcao, Higuain, Aguero, Cavani, Suarez, Hulk, Neymar, tevez, cardozo, jackson martinez, some of the biggest names in world football.

i watch the primeira liga and please don't dis respect cardozo and martinez. they are indeed better than what we have.

with damiao being stalked by the spurs for 3 years, must be some element to the players from that continent.

anyone care to tell me if I am being short sighted?

I think we should go for Cardozo considering his recent trouble with his manager. However, a lot of these south american players have third party ownership which brings a host of issues to the table.

I understand the whole 3rd party mania. its not easy to negotiate with 5 people, when 5 people want different valuations.

however, taking into account that on average they cost around 18-20 mill to acquire from the continent, and if they turn out to be a big hit, the return is double that, surely someone in england is missing a trick?

now we are linked with higuain, and I think if madrid want 25mill pay them the green and let's get that lethal finisher on our team.

ive not watched madrid as much as I would have liked, but going to youtube and checking our his 107 goals in 187 appearances, shows that he can finish with both feet, and i'm surprised as to why madrid don't value him.

Spain and Portugal seem to have flexible passport regulations. from this region.

It's true that a lot of great players from South America join the portugese or spanish league, mainly because the playing style over there resembles that of South America.

However the transfer strategy of Porto and Benfica is quite different to the one we want. They bring in a lot of alledged talent and sell some of them on for great profit.

There are a lot of players, coming from South-America that never seem to live up to expectations. Just think of Saviola, Keirisson,.

Furthermore a lot of players are considered to be the next. , most big established teams tend to wait and see if the player can live up to their potential. In the EPL you have the added difficulty of getting a work permit.

Porto have produced some amazing gems over the past couple of years

Surely the exceptional talent rule applies.

anyway cheers for the replies.
