Well Ladies and Gentlemen,
I haven't posted for quite a while, although I have been reading posts on here quite often.
Approximately 2-3 years ago I put a long post together about clubs being run like a business and the fact that they happened to be involved in football didn't detract from the fact that there was a balance sheet to deal with. I was derided (by some parties) as someone who didn't understand that it was all about success on the pitch, first and foremost. I then went on to try and explain to certain parties (the minority on here, you know who they were) that success does not mean longevity (Leeds Utd etc.), and a sound business model is paramount. Glory hunters are fickle, fans are not. You support who you have. I then went on to try and explain that once the debts were serviced or serviceable to a higher degree I believed that Wenger would start spending within the model. Again the anti-Wenger crew berated me.
This is not a gloat filled post (though it may come across as such), more an introduction to what I believed was happening behind the scenes at the time.
The two points I want to make are where are the naysayers now, and the current events prove to me that Wenger, a man with a degree in Economics, is not such a mug after all is he. I would love to see a few apologies from the supporters who voiced their vitriolic nonsense be man enough to write some supportive things to the club and in particular Wenger himself.
We are VERY lucky to have a manger like Wenger, yes he's highly paid (good value next to Luiz I'd say), but the foundations he has and is laying currently will be rock solid and 'hopefully' bring success to a club doing it the right way for many years to come.
One last thing, Phil Thompson, what a dingleberry.

Oh we all bow down to you. Very clever.

What an irritating post.

Conceited and self-absorbed are the two words that pop in to my head before any others.

As I said not meant to be a 'told you so post'. I was merely getting annoyed with the Wenger out crew acting like spoilt brats 2-3 years ago, when it was clear to see we didn't have the funds to compete at that point in time, so I fail to see why you should be irritated by it? I apologise if the tone of the language came across in the wrong manner to you, it was paraphasing what I had said before, but believe me it wasn't meant to sound big headed. It is hardly self absorbed when I suggested that Wenger and the team be cut a little slack; conceited, how? In that I am proud of the club and what they have achieved.
You have painted yourself as one of the parties I was eluding to in the past? No hard feelings Chimney.

No frog, I've never said Wenger should be sacked, and have never questioned his or the boards running of the club, simply as it was clear to see what they were trying to do.

And how was it conceited? Maybe you should read a definition of the word, and then read through your post. Vanity is a ridiculous thing; very difficult to see in your self.

What a person. Talking as if we'd won the treble and the Champions League. Had Wenger invested before we would have won the league. He is a very good manager but we are always lack the right player somehow.
