If Carvalho is the chosen one, then for goodness sake let's get it finalised before a PSG, RM or even Chelski come in for him.
The difference in money terms between what we are reported to have offered and what Sporting would accept if the fee was front-loaded is probably minimal. We have a multitude of fringe players who are surplus to requirements who can generate sufficient to cover any shortfall.
It may of course be the third-party ownership situation that is causing a delay, but that should not stop us agreeing terms or arranging medicals if Sporting so agree.

Madrid and chelsea won't be spending that amount on a position that does not need to be covered for them.

the only team who could trump us to the player would be man utd, if their Vidal pursuit fades.

Whilst I respect your view Lakerville, it does little to reassure me. This potential transfer is taking far too long. Wenger has known for weeks that Khedira's age, fitness and wage demands made him a non-starter. Serious pursuit of Carvalho could have started in mid-July.
Has anyone else noticed how much more quickly we secured Debouchy, Chambers and Sanchez when Wenger was in Brazil.
