I think yesterday proved if VAR is used correctly it should be quite brilliant! How many times have we seen a linesman make that call wrong and its analysed after and its just brushed over "could of gone either way" "fine margins" "how could he spot that? " and to be fair how could he? Everyone thought it was fine, there wasn't a hint of anything wrong. But thank god it wasn't a linesman getting the call wrong that ruined the game and took some of the focus off how brilliant it was! But I guess the linesman calls it early if he gets it right and you don't get the passage of play, resulting in the high drama of dreams being made just to be dashed again! 😂 Which was one of the biggest fears for VAR that it would take the emotion out of the game, it certainly added emotion to that game! As well as getting clear cut but hard to hard to spot decisions correct, still some that could go either way like lorentes goal and man u in Paris, that would be the same without VAR and at least you can see that he's taken a good long look at every angle to make his decision and if he were to call it clearly different to how everyone else sees it then his integrity would be called in to question and he shouldn't referee again. Can't wait for it here!

I completely disagree. Human error, whether it be on the part of the players or the referees, is part of the game. If you want the referees to be perfect than you might as well lobby for the game to be played by mistake-free robots as well. In the States instant replay is used in all major sports and now there is a mounting number of fans who want to get rid of it completely, across all sports, because of the adverse impact it’s had on the games.

Fair point, but I would rather more decisions correct personally. Take the Cardiff Chelsea game the other day 2 clearly wrong decisions go against them, which VAR would of overturned, could be the difference between them staying up and going down and we've seen how quickly clubs can spiral after that, it could mean Chelsea get top 4 and we miss out. It will be fairer and that's what I want, Its frustrating every week there's a wrong decision cost someone a game, maybe it will ruin it, time will tell, I'm happy about it at the minute 😊.

It will slowly suck the joy out of the game.
It’s especially difficult in football when so many penalties in the box one ref might call and another might not. VAR will further complicate this IMO.

What annoyed me the most about the llorente decision wasn't that I thought it was incorrect, but the ref spent ages looking at inconclusive angles. He clearly signalled it was off his hip, but it was clear it hit his arm on the way through. What's the point of the whole thing if the information isn't even available? Again, I don't disagree with the goal being given despite the handball, but it seems like a massive waste of time to be totally inconclusive.

The thing is years ago we the fans and refs all got one go at making an instant decision as it happend but now days with so many cameras at every angle imaginable and TV pundits analysing everything with the benefit of hindsight then it's only right we give officials a hand and a fighting chance.

Big VAR fan, i want more right than wrong. I do think this summer the whole of the football world using VAR should work from the same set of one rules. Its either got to be 100% wrong decisions or 100% if its really tight and inconclusive, you go with the initial decision. Everyone should work with the same directive.

I agree that VAR will remove the joy and emotions from the game. The way VAR is used is not right, I think. Rather than the VAR referee checking for errors proactively, he should be only called upon to check if the on pitch referee or linesmen are in any doubt, otherwise no one will ever erupt from their seats when a goal is scored!

The only problem with VAR is the officials have to be consistent with it, if they are giving penalties against defenders for accidental hand balls ie Man U v PSG and first leg of spurs v Man City then that has to be the same and penalise attackers if they accidentally handle the ball ie Llorente.

The thing most people really want are more consistency and correct decisions or do they?

It's always worth remembering those who complain most about refs don't want fairness or correct decisions at all what they actually want is decisions that suits them and they are quite happy to accept all poor decisions that go their way without fuss.
No refs mistakes no invincibles, sorry but it's true.

That’s not the only issue with VAR, Myscorebet hit the nail
On the head, it will suck a lot of the joy and suspense out of these games.

the problem with that though Myscorebet, is how could they spot that city offside? so the goal stands, its then flagged up after the game and there's up roar that if they had just checked, they would of spotted it, either use it to its fullest or don't bother is my opinion.
