It is said we need a new winger. I don’t disagree, but Reiss Nelson would be back, is he not rated good enough? I think CM and CB should be addressed first. And how would Smith-Rowe fit in.

I wouldn't be upset to see Nelson given game time next season. Smith-Rowe reminds me a lot of Ramsey from what I've seen of him, maybe we have a long term replacement there. Both great young players.

Considering Cech and Welbeck are all confirmed leaving, I would like to see us give those first xi spots to youngsters too.

It's a long term solution to promote from within including Chambers but it would take patience from fans.
If this season had been achieved by promoting from within and playing Rowe Smith Nelson amd Chambers and Maitland Niles in the middle rather than playing Litch Xhaka Mustafi Miki then I think people would be much much more positive about this season and the future.

Chambers needs moving on mate, he’s not of an Arsenal standard, Miles from it

Rumours Mustafi is wanted by Gavidis, get him out quick.

G62 - Chambers is average at best, now having been part of two relegations from the PL. Quite what fellow Gooners see in him is beyond sense.
As for the youngsters, Rowe-Smith and Nelson, they clearly need to mature as players before playing regularly in Arsenal's first team, and were nowhere near ready for regular first team football at Arsenal this season. Next season Nelson will join the first team squad, I am not yet sure about Smith-Rowe. Emery will probably watch their development during pre-season, afterwhich he will make a decision regarding next season.
If we had played Chambers, Rowe-Smith and Nelson in the middle this season, then we would have been in a far worse position than we are currently in. I doubt very much that they would have done better than the likes of Torrieira and Xhaka.
Emery has done a decent job in his first season, putting out the likes of Napoli and Valencia on the way to the EL final and has more points than last season in the PL. I am sure he knows that players have to move on and others brought in. It will be interesting to see if we can win the EL and to see how the summer transfer window fathoms out. I knew deep down that once the fans had turned on Wenger, Emery would have a difficult task placating fickle, clueless fans.

G62, do you think the fans would appreciate it if the club came out and said that we are now focusing on youth and they need time? Say a 5 year plan to clear the wages and clear the dead wood out whilst getting the youngsters blooded in.

I'd be more than happy to hear that, we have a great crop of youth coming through and we have the advantage of us fans loving it when one comes through the ranks.

Hi Akie I think if this season had been achieved while planning for the long term future in mind people would be excited rather than despondent mate, we don't have unlimited funds and we have a wage bill problem so promoting from within would offer one solution that if handled well might put us in a much more optimistic position in 12 months time.
Hi RG open to sensible debate and discussion as always I see :-)
What's so enjoyable about your posts is how you never are condescending self promoting dismissive of others opinions and views and if all that wasn't endearing enough I really enjoy your always new fresh non repetitive humble views that you never try and pass off as facts.
Pleasure as always :-)

Says the clown who himself turned on Wenger having been so supportive of him.

You couldn’t make up the garbage, oh no hang, it’s Walter Mitty himself, of course he can.

🙄😂😂.

G62 I simply don’t suffer fools gladly. The absurd suggestion to bring back Chambers to the club when both Wenger and Emery farmed him out on loan to clubs that were both relegated! In addition a suggestion that two promising teenagers could replace two seasoned internationals. I am trying to think of any teenagers who would be first choice selections at any of the top 6 PL clubs.

When watching a team like Ajax I think the balance between youngsters and routine is perfect. If we could do something similar with implementation of some of best prospects like Nelson, Smith-Rowe and willock. If they are good enough they will grab the chance and play with ambition, if not we should look for other talents. I think that there are to many talents in our club that never get the chance to take the step up, and keep playing u23 football til they have to move to a lower league club. Sometimes players will adapt to the level. Look at Alexander-Arnold the first 10-20 games he had he was really shaky in defense, but more confidence improved his game.

I can’t believe you think a youngster couldn’t do better than Xhaka? You actually ever watched him play? I don’t know about other top 6 teams playing youngsters but I can assure you no other top 6 team would be interested in Xhaka, unless we’re talking the top 6 in the Conference, and assuming they want a midfielder who can’t tackle, doesn’t track runners, passes the ball mostly sidewards to help his completed passes stats, and slows play down to a snails place. So yes, if the stadium pigeon is not available or off colour, they may accept someone of similar influence for the middle of the pitch, and Xhaka might be in with a chance, assuming the chairman’s niece is busy taking her 11 plus.

Sparky is right there, it can't be worse than what we have, I'd rather have a youth player over Lichsteiner and Jenkinson at right back. I'd rather have Mavropanos over Mustafi, Welbeck leaving? Replace him with John-Jules or Nketiah.
