I didn’t care about the Tottenham score as long as we won if I’m completely honest.

I hate this - we got to finish above Spurs. Who cares and when we were winning trophies he didn’t matter about Spurs. I can’t or won’t accept a crap season as long as Spurs do worse. That’s loser talk and we need to set decent yardsticks to determine success and define our great club.

Emery’s competing line is not that different to top 4 is a trophy.

Surely our goals should be sort out our defence and continually improve. Top 4 2019/ 20, Top 3 20/ 21 and then truly competing for honours in year 3. I don’t care if it’s City or Spurs who we are competing for the top spot. In our hay day, I never looked at Spurs but used Utd as the yardstick or Chelsea.

Let’s have decent goals and work on a plan to achieve them. If we miss but nd up above Spurs - I do t care. I want to know why we missed them. Save the local rivalry for when we play but don’t let it measure our success.

Sorry if this goes against some people’s thought process but the year we stopped talking about the league but rathe St Tottenham day was the day we lowered the bar and stopped competing properly. The board were happy and so were the fans.

Sorry Mark I couldn't resist mate :-)
Mind you we did miss out on some of our fans trying to convince everyone how our winning the europa league somehow surpassed Spuds winning the champions league :-)
Now that would have been entertaining Mate :-) .

SY4, I'm from the Holloway Road, you can't get much more Arsenal than that.

Measure what you want but I never want that toilet to win anything majore.

That mentality was the beginning of the end SY mate, Arsene was a big advocate of champions league participation and above Spurs being a successful season.
It stands to reason once you stop aiming for 1st and start being happy 4th happy sooner or later you are going stagnate and slip up eventually.
Talking up 4th place as a trophy simply because for a decade we couldn't win a real trophy of any shape or form was the writing on the wall mate.
The good news is we are now much much closer to getting back to being competitive than we ever were while people were happily swallowing Arsenes placebo success, almost all fans have now thrown away those special Arsenal glasses and although Emery may well not be the answer we won't waste a decade waiting for him to suddenly become the answer, if he can't produce a defence worthy of the name next season he won't see a 3rd season as our manager that's for sure.

Malaga - I am with you but Spurs can’t be our yardstick or justification of a poor season because Spurs were worse. That's not a way of defining success.

I know it can't SY4 mate, but if we do crap I want them to do worse.
