Happy for us to cash in on Torriera to be honest. Not been overly impressed and sure we can get funds to improve the midfield if we sell well. He's stood out because we are so poor but like sky have said - he wouldn't get into any of the top teams midfield but looks good for us because we are poor in midfield and been screaming for a midfielder for years.
Sell and replace with Doucoure from Watford

No doubt I will beat my 13 thumbs down from my last post 😉.

:-) cheers Welsh mate, thank you for taking it in the playful way it was meant, well done you mate.

{Ed047's Note - I like to think Torriera will come back into his own with a settled defence this season.

South American players have tended to struggle when they move to the PL and have integrated far easier into the Italian and Spanish Leagues, coping far better with the culture in those countries which is closer to their own. The weather in England plays a part, as does the language.

Torreira came to us on the back of a successful and demanding World Cup Finals last summer. He was gently introduced into the first team, but he often, despite being a brave player and due to his small structure would end up grounded by extremely physical challenges from larger, muscular opponents.

It often takes a season for players coming from other leagues to acclimatise themselves into the hurly burly of the PL, but what is worrying with Torreira is that he hasn't learnt the language and he doesn't like living in England. Having an Italian wife and a home in Milan, I can understand his plight. The food in Italy is amazing, the weather often better than in England, the culture very different.
If he is truly unhappy then perhaps the best thing is to move him on and we should be able to obtain a sizeable fee, that may stretch to buying a couple of much needed players. I would be sad to see him depart, as he is a player you can't help but like and admire.

You have the same opinion there as Paul merson. i think that itself says more than I ever could.

Torreira is one of the only players to emerge with any credit from last season and you want to sell!? Maybe if we had a midfield or defence worth the name then he could have done better but as it stands he was probably in our top 3 performers last season. With fans like these, eh?

He's a good player Ed047 but I'm not at all certain we will have a settled defence next season or a more reliable parter for Torreira in the middle unless Guendouzi comes on very quickly, so much depends on Emery adapting his football philosophy which I think is much more important to our chances than the transfer window could ever be, I can't see how simply buying different players will make up for lack of organisation and discipline in the middle or at the back that has to come from the man who sets the team up no matter what players we have.
For me Emery adapting his philosophy is the very best thing than could happen to Arsenal this summer because without that happening nothing else stands a chance of getting better.

{Ed047's Note - I think for most Emery has had his free first hit but this season has to show a lot more.

By settled I meant the same 4 or 5 depending on his system barring some needed rotation but ultimately it’s his head on the block when it comes to organising is as a whole to defend so much better.

Couldn't agree more Ed mate if we defend next season as we did this Emery won't see a 3rd season no matter how well Lacasette and Pea do up top.

Welsh, D16 Wire . thanks for the feedback. I did say I would happily sell him for strong money and bolster the squad with the Watford lad. Wouldn’t that be an upgrade? Better size and presence for the EPL.

Diversity in opinion is good - I get it why he’s liked. We love players who run around a lot and play like a little terrier.

I am sure I’ve posted worse 😂😂😂.
