If we do bid for this defender then I personally think the board have told emery he can have who he wants and if he doesn’t delivery this season then they have said he’s going, that’s my opinion.

I'm not sure about that but obviously the club is showing some ambition and I'm sure the ambition is champions league football not Just next season but on a regular basis.
I think it's pretty obvious defeats against Palace Leicester Watford will raise more than just eyebrows this season as we all know points most definitely make prizes and every point really does count. Expectation and accountability are two very important ingredients I think all managers accept as part of the job when they take it on and it would be good to see that apply at Arsenal again too.

Didn’t one of the Ed’s say the won’t be giving him the option of his 3rd year.

Hopefully he will earn the option of a 3rd year mate, top 4 and he certainly will have done but more Europa league football in 2020 2021 and he's unlikely to be our manager in my opinion.

If we don’t sign a class defender this window then he has to go for me, I don’t like him now, but can’t just give him one year,

Maybe we are signing all theses players to attract the right manager next year.

Hopefully we won't need one Ben but just in case it won't hurt our chances of getting a decent replacement if need be which obviously none of us really want to be necessary.
I don't think anyone dislikes Emery personally so even those of us who doubt his methods tactics footballing philosophy actually would LIKE to see him be a huge success with us even if they can't see how that might actually be possible based on previous experience of his footballing ideas.
