What sort of characters have we at Arsenal. Quote, Xhaka "we got scared" our Captain and biggest liability saying that. Says it all for me, that guy should not be near the squad let alone team. We need stronger characters than that and we need to start playing chambers and torreira. Luiz and soc together do not look a partnership, that needs breaking up, xhaka does not bring anything to this team and needs booting. We need desperately Tierney and Bellerin (don't know how far away they are) We need Holding back and playing. Until that all happens, if it does, we will obviously not see any improvement. Its that or a new manager. Its obvious that certain partnerships are not working for various reasons, if the manager is seen to try and change it, it must be given time but if he doesn't, nothing will get better and he will be out, for sure. He has a back up of players to come in, he has to be seen to be getting the right partnerships and right formations. If not its good night Irene.

With English not being Xhaka first language I think his choice of words wasn't quite right as he did try to correct himself during the interview, his afraid comment I think has been taken a little out of context of how he meant them.

He also spoke of two incidents costing us the game, which reminded me of Emery saying Xhaka had an very good game v Spurs apart from his one mistimed tackle that gave Spurs the penalty.

Either both captain and manager are being less than honest about each others performance or both are completely oblivious to each others inability to do their respective jobs at premier league level so far.
Either way it's not good for us fans.

Emery, can't be seen in public slagging his players. In private is a completely different thing. If he isn't seen to be sorting it inside the camp, he will lose the squads attention. Players like Xhaka, Luiz, Socrates need to be held to account behind closed doors. They are the examples the others should be following. If their example is poor then it needs sorting. If they were 20 or 21 years old they would be shoved down the pecking order and out. Because they are older and more established, that should be no different. These players are supposed to be leading this team.

Xhaka plays every game and is Emerys choice of captain mate, that's some show of public support and it's difficult to see what's left to say in private that trumps all that.

Why couldn’t we see this -

David Luiz is not the answer for Arsenal, ” Whelan told Football Insider. “He’s brilliant on the ball, but more of a footballer than a defender. The dressing room don’t trust him, you could see that yesterday.

“There’s been so many times he’s let his team down with poor defending and decision-making, he’s a fragile centre-back.

“If Frank Lampard thought David Luiz could have done a sound job for him this season, there’s no way he would have sold him to Arsenal.

“Lampard has seen enough of him to know he has better defenders at Chelsea, who he can rely on to do a job for him.

The signing that took the complete gloss off the window as it was the most important signing of the window. Muppets complete muppets signing that clown 🤡.

{Ed025's Note - thats a terrible insult to kermit and the gang SY..

Very true Ed - I like

PEA agrees

“I feel like we are literally giving goals to the opposition, it is up to us to progress in that respect, ” Aubameyang said.

“I don’t want to accuse anyone, you could say that the attackers could have killed the game off and scored a third goal, so I am not going to say it is someone’s fault. It is a shame to concede the goals as we did. ”

And a Valencia fan

Unai Emery had a 1-goal lead against 10 men.
- The 10 men equalized, then got another red.
- Against 9-men, Unai Emery’s 11 men went from 1-1 to 1-4.
- Then got a late goal to make it 2-4.
Now, look at the:

players Unai had

Unai Emery had a team with Baraja, Silva, Mata, Joaquin and Villa but refused to try to keep the ball against NINE men. I’m not kidding. He told his players to hoof it.

They hoofed it randomly. And whenever Madrid picked up the ball, they funneled it to Robben.

We’ve got problems - at the head and the spine. Let’s start again please.

Luis is a very good sweeper in a back 3 or good DM but only a decent CB who one has mistakes within his make up, he gave away yet another penalty yesterday which is awful but it's wrong to not acknowledge all the excellent blocks he made that prevented goals too.
Xhaka gives away goals regularly but with very little return in the plus colum while Luis makes crazy mistakes but most definitely contributes positively also.

62 - every game he makes at least 1 huge mistake that has been in the build up to a goal / penalty. He’s all over the place as a CB. He’s the last signing we needed. Why spend X on our forwards and go to Poundland for the most important position. With him, Xhaka and the young Matteo - we are in trouble, Matteo has time to learn. Then to play Ozil and Ceballos 🤷‍♂️ Would Frank really sell him if he was top drawer? Count the goals he’s been involved in against us. Pretty sure a table can act as a watch and a broken watch is right a couple of times a day.
I don’t rate him in case you don’t know and I rate him less in our side and set up. 😉.

Fair enough SY mate, if you don't rate you don't rate him, we all have players we just don't see anything in.
Maybe Luis and Arsenal are a very poor match in reality, Luis has always had mistakes in him while at Arsenal all CBs are left totally exposed with no protection or cover for huge parts of games.
I genuinely think Van brilliant would struggle in our side.

A very true point 62 - we bring out the worst side in our defenders due to coaching, tactics, quality in key areas and collective discipline. I’m sure Jose could get more out of him - I just think he’s the wrong player at the wrong time at the wrong club with the wrong manager in the wrong set up. All those wrongs don’t make a right.
