Does anyone know what Mikel's plans are for Maitland Niles? Is he our RB / CM cover or will we see him developing to become our next CM?

{Ed002's Note - I suspect he will become the dogsbody type of versatile utility player - a modern day Marvin Hinton if you like.}

Gary Mabbut was another player who suffered because of his versatility, Jack of all trades but master of none.

I don't think he's our best option as cm or a winger neither second best. Although there's many players changed positions through their careers. So with a bit more coaching maybe he can be transformed into a good rb/ rwb.

He's shown promise as a CM in the past, I still think it's his best position, but his passing is a serious concern. CM/ RB is how Fabinho made his name, so it's not unheard of, but Fabinho is also really bloody good.

AMN is one of the players that could benefit hugely from Arteta's coaching, so we need to patient to see how all the players at the club perform under Arteta. Against Man U, Luiz, Xhaka, Ozil, Torreira and Pepe looked like completely different players than under Emery or Freddie.

Maitland Niles reminds me a little of Aaron Ramsey in his earlier Arsenal days where he just didn't quite do enough to convince people.
I remember Ramsey coming back from injury in 2012 and talking about how he and Jack could form a brilliant partnership in the Arsenal midfield and everyone laughing at him for classing himself in the same bracket as Wilshire but the 2013/ 14 season changed everything for Aaron and Maitland Niles needs some of Ramsey's sell belief and to force Mikels hand as Ramsey did Arsenes with undroppable performances.
If he has the right talent and attitude he will do it and if not he will fade away like Gibbs and others .
