Injuries and suspensions are mounting - he deserved a red for that tackle but I didn't realise VAR could overrule a refs decision especially once the ref deemed a yellow was right.

Anyway - the right card was eventually shown.

Think we will miss Torriera just as much as Matteo is a huge step down ( huge ) . That may be a position we need to look at in this or next window as I'm not happy with our back up.

Hope Gooners and Eds are enjoying their Sunday. Hope the board relax the purse strings and allow a signing or two 🤞.

If Bellerin is back would Arteta consider Ainsley in midfield. 🤷‍♂️

The two central midfield roles are key as far as i am concerned, and a central paring of Xhaka and Matteo are not going to frighten any opposition. With the midfield duo, its not just a case of having two good players, its more of a case of having two players (preferably good! ) who compliment each other, so the sum of the parts is greater so to speak. This was definitely the case with Viera and Petit, with the latter helping the former become a great box to box player, and as a result Petit got into the world cup winning french squad. I am not a fan of Xhaka, but do think Matteo has more to him, but i think they are playing for the same single role, to be paired with a Torreira type player, but not together. Hopefully Arteta could already see how Fernandiho's enforced move from Midfield to cover Defence for Man City has affected them this year (plus his advancing age! ) , and i hope he already sees this same issue with us. Its unlikely that there are suitable players available during the current transfer window, and any in the summer will be in demand, but this is where i think we need to splash any cash we have. Kongdobia has always impressed me at Valencia, and fits that DM role well, but has been more injury prone over the past year, so maybe someone closer to home, such as a Declan Rice could be an option?

Id like to see us move for someone like Kalvin Phillips from Leeds, young promising player, really good at what he does, very similar player to Torreira.
