Leno in goal? What’s gone on there?

{Ed047's Note - no Martinez, Torriera, Guendouzi or Ozil in the squad.

Reports suggest Martinez and his agent are working out a deal for a move to Villa 🤷‍♂️

Only 1 defender on the bench too.

Very poor decision by the club IMO Martinez is a much better keeper than Leno.

I like both keepers but martinez is not much better than leno. Think some have forgotten how good he was for us last season.

No one wants to buy leno though. So its either keep both or raise 20m+. Both keepers are on equal par in my eyes but that can be argued.

I must admit I was a little worried to see Leno. Not sure why but I felt totally confident with Martinez.

Leno is class and nobody would of said otherwise is he didn't get injured. You've got remember how long Emi has been at the club and had been loaned out and hardly used. He may have put in good performances of late but to start going on about selling Leno is absolutely ludicrous. Allowing Emi to leave for 1st team football is absolutely the right decision and I'll stand by the club. We're making a good return on him if the 20m figure is correct and it's the right time to sell him. This time last year we would of been lucky to make 2m for him let alone 20 and selling Leno would of been seen as laughable 😂.

Agree Glen, pre Arteta arriving the only 2 things separating us and a relegation battle were Leno and Auba outstanding performances, Leno was facing a ridiculous amount of shots at his goal in every single game under Emery and he did brilliant to keep goals against down to a minimum.

I appreciate your logic Glenn. I think I have got carried away with the emotion of Emi helping us win two trophies and also because the team seem confident in front of him. Time will tell .

I think the team feel just as confident with Leno in goal Sally tbh. We've had so many keepers who have been regarded as not good enough because of the poor players in front of them.

Leno was outstanding for us in a period where we had no direction, no drive and no confidence and I'd happily let him resume his position as no1 with Emi being allowed to get regular game time elsewhere 👍🏻.

I agree with the majority of the opinions here.

The thing that has kind of pushed me towards this also is - It was Emi s jersey to lose.
He would have started and went on to play until he made some mistakes or got injured maybe.

At a club like ours, especially when we are trying to turn a new leaf and change player attitude- Are you entitled a first choice role by the gaffer? - I would say no. Be on your toes. Be ready to fight and prove you deserve that jersey every single day.
