First the club makes 55 members of staff redundant and blames finances for it. Then it proceeds to spend millions in new players. When signing the last player on deadline day we don't even have the courtesy of notifying his club, instead they are told just minutes before deadline by La Liga, leaving them no chance to sign a replacement.

Not the proudest time to be an Arsenal fan. The excitement of us signing a fantastic player is heavily conflicted with the manner we have conducted our business this summer. This is perhaps foolish but it kinda bugs me that most of the fans won't care though as long as it's Partey time.

I'm over the moon about Partey Ice mate, but I miss the old Arsenal honour and decency that we were all so proud of in the past. Personally I think it's still possible behave decently and be successful and it isn't an absolute prerequisite for success to be arrogant.
There is a very happy miduim if you take the trouble to use it.

The old Arsenal that had a player in prison, player in trouble for stealing luggage, stole youngsters from clubs across Europe, or the trouble we caused signing Anelka, club that got fans to pay fir the new stand only to have an all white mural

Is that the club you remember or all players need to wear long sleeves to match the captain or agreeing to a rematch in a cup game due to us “cheating”

Not sure we’ve always been saints is my point but now may be we’ve lost touch with the working man and community values as player power and size of the prizes have increased

Thoughts?

Ice, mate Atheltico Madrid treated Partey appallingly, and they ignored Arsenal and said that's the price, Partey was in on the plan, to leave at the last minute as a f you to them, doesn't necessarily make it right, but they sh! t on him, and took advantage of him being a nice guy. Stay safe everyone and cheers to all the eds for all their time and insight ✌️.

We didn’t have to contact his club why is everyone having a hissy fit about that, that’s how it works in Spain with release clause.

I agree with Welsh, if that’s how it goes in Spain so be it, if the clubs don’t like it they should do something about it .

Though it does seem a bizarre way of selling a player.

{Ed047's Note - they knew Arsenal wanted the player but wouldn’t negotiate a price.

They had ample time to negotiate a new deal with Partey as he was their lowest paid player. They chose to do neither and were fully aware, as all Spanish clubs must be, of what exactly a buy out clause meant, so why all the faux outrage! 🤦‍♂️

They got the deal they wanted from us for Torriera so they can jog on in my book.

Absolutely agree ed047, spot on. There are rumblings that Atleti sabotaged Torreira's move to Torino by tapping him up about a move as well. As more details come to light about the transfer I begin to wonder whether Arsenal really did act that badly or whether they simply saw how Atletico were behaving and responded in kind. Both clubs got their man in the end, so despite Atletico's complaining about Arsenal's conduct I find it hard to be sympathetic.

{Ed047's Note - me too mate, it’s move on nothing to see here for me

Yep well said Ed, like I said earlier we have in the past been forced to sell players for less than their market value because the player has made it clear they wanted to leave, I actually think in this case AM got the buy out clause price so I don’t understand why we are in the gutter now.

{Ed047's Note - of course we have mate and there are so many clubs out there guilty of far worse of that I’m certain and mostly the big clubs to boot.

They had an opportunity to negotiate and decided not too and I’d bet they even said it’s £45 million or nothing and hey presto they got £45 million.

Some fair points there SY but the when I think of old Arsenal I think of the marble halls, the Hillwoods and Highbury, the all white mural? Was it really racist or purely a middle class thoughtless but innocent oversight?

George and it her individuals may have let them self's down but I don't think old Arsenal ever deliberately and in full knowledge let others down. Maybe it's an illusion in my head though, that is a real possibility I admit.

No the vices are real 733 mate!
I smoke to much
I drink to much
and sometimes I really can be just to much!

As I keep reminding my wife, its ok for her and everyone else because at least they get a break from me occasionally, while I'm stuck with me 24/ 7 :-)
