I’ve seen and read enough to realise we are looking at a high position of 7th .

{Ed014's Note - it’s always nice at season start to hope for positive things to happen and for the season to be a belter.

Yet here we are, moved no one on, talk of Xhaka getting a new contract, £50 million on Ben White whilst Saliba fannies about in Marseille, giving mindless goals away from defensive errors playing out from the back in pre season.

No sight or sign of the midfielders we need, Arteta still talking bollocks and what is it with him falling out with every f****r!

7th might be pushing it!

I don't think the car was that bad last season I just think it was driven really poorly, and despite any additions we have or might make i don't think the driver has learned anything or is willing to change.

I get the whole glass half full n all that but let’s be honest we look nowhere near challenging for top 4 let alone the title.
If your happy with mediocrity then this seasons gunna be a belter for ya! I’m not, I want Arsenal to be a team to be feared again n with what this summers provided us all I’m saying is it doesn’t fill me with hope.

It takes time tho jegooner. We're not going to be feared within a season. And Oxfordshire yes I have seen signs that we will finish higher than 7th. The form for the last half of the season. The young players growing each season. Improving the defence which will allow us to play more attacking football (I hope! )

I get there's reasons to be negative but its not even began guys. Stop being such downers 😂.

Ofcourse D16 I don’t expect us to be champions overnight but for the money we’ve spent since Wenger left is huge. Liverpool were in a similar position before loop took over, it took him a year of reconstruction n now look at them mate.
Why shouldn’t we expect the same? 🤷🏼‍♂️
Like sy4 said, I had high hopes for this season thinkin we’d kick on n look a real team that’s progressing well.

Something needs to change and change quick.

Your like broken records the lot of you for years now, and want us to be positive after witnessing decline for years culminate in that finishing positing last season and going from no CL football to now no European football.
Your as big a problem as the owners because you are enablers all of you.
One of you please tell me, where you garner this positivity from based on the signing of two absolute unproven prospects, one of whom can barely be regarded as first choice LB at Benfica and the other comes from the Belgian League. We’ve signed Ben White who has had ONE SEASON in the PL and without doubt is a massive risk at the price.
How you can begin to think this nearly addresses the glaring issues that seen us finish where we did last season?
Negativity is no good for anyone. Bring realistic, however, is because it encourages debate and freedom of expression…But damn the only thing worse than real negativity is utter stupidity masquerading as ‘positivity’ and then having the neck to lecture everybody else.
And just like all these years gone by once the rubbish inevitably hits the fan none of you will be seen on here for dust until it’s time again preseason to lecture us all once more.

Hi Shambo yours was an interesting post and did make me think. I am an enabler perhaps but as I said last season only until Christmas as MA has had enough time by then. My positivity comes from Tierney, White Gabriel Partey Saka ESR Martinelli Pepe all on long contracts and 80% of first team. The three positions missing are RB G and ACM which I`m fed up of reading every day we are in for. We may have a great car but as 62 says the driver maybe rubbish. I`m prepared to give until Christmas and the positive thing is if/ once MA goes he has left a decent set of players or am I mistaken in that? COYG By the way you talk total bollox in assuming anyone positive is stupid.

Those posters who feel positive should feel free to post thier feelings freely but equally are those posters who don't feel the same on every issue not free also?

Respect is or should be a two way Street.

At no point did I label all positive people stupid.
I said it’s insulting for people acting stupid or wilfully ignoring glaringly obvious truths to assume we should all adopt positivity for the sake of positivity when it comes to this topic, especially when the recent past is right their under your nose.
You may see not being sat in 15th this November as call for positivity or optimism. If that’s the case I’ll board that ship with you.
However if we are talking finishing even one place above last year, I really think you need to temper your expectations because as has been said to death, there is no indication as to why that should materialise.
The argument for the second half of the season is nullified on its face by the fact the first half of the season also occurred. You can’t promote one and ignore the others very existence because on average your argument has the capacity to go either way.
You won’t meet a more optimistic Arsenal fan when it comes to youth progressing or someone like Pepe growing at this level, but we have as much chance of finishing 10th or 12th as we have making 5/ 6th based on your theory of halving last season.
Just a thought 🤷🏼‍♂️.

Shambo it`s like leave or remain, Tory or Labour, God or no God all no right answers and lots of people having each opinion.

I would never dream of telling people to be positive if they don`t think that but try and put forward why I am positive. Maybe I miread / misunderstood your post or that anyone who has an opposite stance is stupid - which is wrong and if I did I apologise.

Always been the same at Arsenal I remember the North Bank being divided over Charlie Nick, similar to Ozil! We can never agree on how to get there but we all want the same thing and as someone said be respectful on both sides - a bit choice coming from someone who said you talked bollox - for which I apologise.

Remember we could be Spuds and a lifetime of misery! I will repeat myself for the 21st time with our youngsters plus Bissouma and Aouar ( gone quiet ) and coming round to replacing Leno we have plenty to be optimistic about.

What we write on here is what we already know and think . It is reading others opinions that has the ability to change our own unless it`s complete bollox of course Haha COYG.

Just can’t find the energy to give this club or manager anymore of my optimism as things are right now.
It’s 8 days to our first game.

I think that speaks for itself as to how hard this club are actually really trying to turn things around. Their selling false hope, like every other season. I’m ready to take a back step and stop investing so much time in Arsenal.

Trouble is Shambo it is a sickness and I`ve had it for 50 plus years now, it ain`t going away! Whenever I`m on this site or arsenal.com etc my wife actually says you on to your girlfriend again? I`m with you but add Partey Bissouma Maddison instead of El Neny Xhaka Pepe it all looks much better . Important 26 days coming up which the club can change hearts and minds . Bad news is you can`t give this sickness up so may as well keep the faith and stay on board the rollercoaster that is AFC COYG.
