Awful performance and once again Artetas shortcomings and inexperience are there for all to see. We have to make a decision about Arteta very soon because last night as the same with Brighton we were lucky to come away with a point. I like all us Gooners love to stick it across Spurs, but if it comes to the point where that is the only game where we can lift ourselves then we are in a bad way. I don't want Paddy because his record as a manager is mediocre.
As 62 said Potter is the best choice out there, but I've feeling that Newcastle will be eyeing up as a replacement for Steve Bruce when he goes as he so obviously will.
3 things stood out for me last night was no1 was Artetas inability to change things around. No2 Auba totally disappearing when the going got tough, shouldn't be captain not up for it and never will be. No3 paying 34 mill for Odegaard and sticking him alongside Partey when Lokongo is sitting on the bench, should have played Odegaard cm with ESR and Saka either side, and not played Pepe.

Hi Bill all the stars are aligned for Rafa Benitez to return to Newcastle in my opinion mate.

He would seem ideal candidate for this early stage of what is going to be a 4 to 7 year project in my opinion.

That's a good call 62 mate. Benitez would be tempted leaving us to get up the gumption to sack Arteta and bring in Potter who I'm fairly confident would be tempted.

The BIGGEST thing last night was the difference Lacca made, his link up play with the shrinking striker PEA was there for all to see, we actually looked a threat.

Hi Bill mate, personally I think Potter would be ideal for us and the job we need doing, organising motivating and getting the best out an already half decent squad before adding the missing ingredients to the current squad.

Newcastle are a very different proposition in that they have loads of money but need to start from almost scratch in order to establish themselves as a club the biggest players would join.
Newcastle fans already love Rafa so for me he ticks all the boxes that are possible to tick at this early stage of what has the potential to be a huge project that will need a fair bit of time to be fully completed.
Give the Newcastle fans a trophy, any trophy at all and he and the new owners will be automatic legends on Tyneside.

Rafas words make it very hard though, he's going to look like a right untrustworthy pillock if he goes back on them and from the sounds of it keeping his word is important to him:

Benítez was linked with a return to his former club throughout the protracted takeover by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund but has ruled out replacing Steve Bruce if, as expected, the manager exits. The Everton manager admits Newcastle’s interest was broached during talks this summer with Moshiri, who was stung by Carlo Ancelotti’s return to Real Madrid after only 18 months at Goodison, and he assured the billionaire owner there would be no repeat.

“I don’t want to talk too much about that but, just to clarify, it is not an issue, ” Benítez said of the Newcastle takeover. “The people at Newcastle knew already that I was just thinking about staying here and I told our people that they didn’t have to worry about anything because I’m happy here, working as hard as I can here and I gave my word so that is it.

Hi Eden mate, I hadn't seen Rafa comments and I freely admit my prediction is based 100% on my own personal opinion.
I am happy to concede Benitez is far better placed to know his future plans than I am ????

Maybe the return return of king Kevin then? ?.

May be they steal Arteta? Is he not good enough for them.

If both Bruce and arteta were available I wonder who gets more offers?

I wouldn't think either will be offered another premier league job, my guess is Arteta will go to Spain and Steve Bruce will go to a championship team.

As for Ole, probably Norway national set up somewhere, but I think Bruce will go first shortly followed by Ole and Mikel around January time.

{Ed014's Note - they are equally pathetic at their jobs and should go together hand in hand tonight to never embarrass another club anywhere ever.

You certainly wouldn't want arteta if you were a team fighting relegation, they would get absolutely slaughtered.

{Ed014's Note - we may be doing that yet ??

Ramsdale to get the honor of 3 relegations in a row?

For me it's how many days Steve Bruce is left on limbo before he gets the inevitable phone call.

As for Ole how long before United actually get round to doing what they so obviously are going to have do if they ever want to be relevant again

And Mikel, well it's simply a case of how long Arsenal can resist and fight off doing what the world and his dog knows they should have done long ago.
Those running our club are not known for accepting thier mistakes and acting to correct them willingly.

Interesting point that Eden, if we were to be relegated would Ramsdale next clubs fans judge him on Arsenal's performances or Arsenal Sheffield United and Bournemouth performances.

Ramsdale has been excellent for us but his stats make him look guilty by association, again ?.
