I agree 100% with Arteta on this.

Liverpool City Chelsea and Spurs have all proved beyond doubt finishing in the top 4 is nothing like liking your own elbow, it has repeatedly been proven to be both be possible and very achievable, in fact 4 teams have achived this fete each and every season since league football first came into existence.

This bloke Arteta definitely has his finger on the pulse of the game, that's very clear.

"Looking back, I've been back a few years and seen a few examples of things like this happening at the end of the season. The longer the game is close, I am hopeful" banking on the worst team in the league, with nothing to play for and only 5 wins all season suddenly showing up! ? Even a draw won't do, we would have to win by 15!

I don't get what has you lot so wound up. He hasn't said anything wrong. Numerically, it is still possible for us to finish 4th.

And even then we'd have to show up and perform v Everton Eden mate.

This reminds me of those old England world cup and Euro campaigns where a mathematical possibility was dug up as to how it was still theoretically possible for England to progress beyond the group stages, they were desperate days for the national side ????.

When this season is done, I'll still be an Arsenal fan. Sadly I can't read this site any more. Good wishes to you and yours,

Why can't you read this site anymore.

So you think it’s VERY possible the Sharpie? Or do you think there is a remote chance?

It’s the words mate - it’s not very possible at all and he knows it, if he doesn’t he has absolutely no clue .

I hope you will read this Davy and return.

For me, my reply was meant as a joke reply to Banbury's MA quote, it obviously wasn't as funny in reality as it was in my head.

The reality is i'm quite chuffed with 5th as I genuinely feel we would have been punching big time in the top 4 and Champions league football next season.

I personally think 5th is a very good season for Arsenal under Arteta and I have no complaints about finishing there what so ever under Mikel.

Yes 62 5th would have been good BUT we had numerous games in hand over Spuds and others and were points clear but losing 5 in the last 9 just isn’t acceptable hence my criticism of Arteta it’s been very poor, we had a very poor start to the season and a very poor end.

Hi Banbury mate, my opinion is Arsenal Football club are very capable of top 4 and winning both
winning both Pl and CL titles

I don't believe MA is capable of any of these things so bearing in mind he is our manager 5th is excellent given the current situation.

Oxford, if he says we have no chance, you lot will be up in arms, spouting nonsense like, "if he can't believe in the team why should the team play for him". And I'm not even exaggerating or trying to be funny.

At the start of the season, if anyone would have guaranteed you 5th place, most Arsenal fans, me included, would have said it was a good season. That's how bad we were. And here we are at the tail end of the season quibbling over the difference between 4th and 5th.

This team, the way it is, they over achieved.

Sharpy I’m just saying ……realism - see what the bookies think, they more right than wrong - you no it’s not a very good chance it’s a outside chance at best .

Yes I have previously posted in the discussion we’d have all settled for 5th especially after the first 3 games BUT not long ago we were 3 points behind Chelsea and several points ahead of teams below and with several games in hand but we have lost 5 in 9 which is really poor when 4th spot and even 3rd was in touching distance .

I think people are as disappointed in themselves as they are the team and Arteta, fans were taking about overtaking Chelsea and finishing 3rd even though 4th itself wasn't anywhere near secure, Arteta and the teams weaknesses were always there to be seen, it's just that people chose to not see them and pretend MA and the team were more than they really are.

I personally hoped for rather than expected top 4, even when we were really well placed i was open to the fact there was a longway to go still.

15.) 21 May 2022
21 May 2022 22:45:25
You say that 62 but I bet you any money when you looked at the last 10 fixtures you expected more points than what we are likely to end up with

Palace Brighton and Southampton defeats are unexplainable and occurred right after the international break so what went wrong there? It was a bizarre run of results.

If I'm truthful and memory serves me correctly Banbury mate I expected to beat Brighton and Southampton but Palace always locked dodgy to me, I definitely didn't expect to beat Chelsea or United and always thought Spurs under Conte looked a tough ask for Arsenal under MA, Conte really is a very good manager, Howe has made Newcastle a very different proposition and I never thought a win was the obvious result at St James Park.
I personally think many of us have seen what we wanted to see and chose to ignore anything that challenged the wave of positivity and optomisism that was flowing through the club.

We knew we were short in numbers, we knew we didn't have a Harry Kane or a Conte, we knew we didn't have Tierney or Partey and our squad was young and inexperienced and we knew MA was unproven like Conte and Tuchel, yet we still expected top 4

I think we fans set ourselves up for a fall and now blame MA for being who he always was, MA.
