Agree ED only young so loan him out. Tierney Zinchenko Martinelli left side looking strong. Hoping Tommy and Kieran stay fit but White then Cedric can cover right back. I also think White could cover at a push at DM.

{Ed014's Note - we’ve got the beginning of a great young squad and I’m interested to see who the other additions will be that the club has talked about.

Tavares on loan defo makes sense and I’m really wanting to see Tommy, Saliba, Gabriel and Tierney in action together as our go to back four.

Zinny, Partey and Odegaard in midfield with Saka, Jesus and Martinelli up front.

That gives us ESR, Nketiah, White, Xhaka, Holding, Pepe, Cedric, Marquinhos, Vieira, Lokonga and Elneny without knowing who the possible new additions are as back ups.

What do you reckon of a back 3 ed014? Both White and Saliba are good back 3 defenders. Depending on Tierney and Tomiyasu's fitness (and Partey being available) we'll see it somewhat often, especially as it gives Zinchenko basically a left midfield role. If neither of our fullbacks are fit, it still gives a nice lineup with plenty of defensive cover.

Ramsdale - White/ Saliba/ Gabriel - Saka/ Partey/ Xhaka/ Zinchenko - Odegaard/ Jesus/ Martinelli.

{Ed014's Note - I wouldn’t say no but that possibly makes our right side a little weak defensively.

I’m not completely convinced by Ben White yet and are we losing something playing Saka in that role.

Would you play that formation in the bigger games wire?

Fitness will play a role though like you say. Not sure what’s going on with Tommys injury.

I read in an interview MA stating we needed to not be so predictable. Playing three at the back gives us that option and sure we`ll see depending on injuries and opposition. Five subs will also have a bearing on formations COYG.

Depends ed014 mate - I think if everyone is fit (Partey especially) , we look the best with the back 4, no matter who we play.

As yet though, fitness is a problem, and we have no idea what is happening with Partey longer term. Zinchenko is an unknown quantity when it comes to defending tenaciously, City have so much of the ball that it's doubtful he has ever been pegged back like we were last season (e. g. against Liverpool) . I don't trust Cedric defensively, at all. I think if we see Arteta shift to a back 3, it will be for practical reasons rather than us being at our best that way.
