Lucas Torreira gone for 7mil. Sometimes ijust don't understand the market. 15mil for him is a steal. In my opinion he's a quality player. He's done well for us in the first season probably one of the best players. Still remember the song Torreira ooooh torreira woOoh. At Fiorentina he thrived. I mean for 15mil that we were asking for you could upgrade your midfield. And he's gone to Galatasaray for 7. Great buy for them and wish him good luck.

Just an observation but I think prices have stabilised since 2020, 200mil for Neymar seems like a distant dream world now.

I think the market remains two tiered G62, which became worse as clubs struggled under C.V. losses. Top players are still in demand, as you have those top clubs from all across Europe competing for them, and all able to offer top salaries. However, the market for the rest, especially the Everyman, seems completely subdued, which is perhaps why we have struggled to move players on. Take away those top clubs, none of which would be interested in Mari, Torreira, Maitland-Nile’s or Pepe, and you drop into the next tier of European clubs; all decent, but who are never going to match the wages Premiership clubs seem to be paying. Think of a Valencia type club, very big and well supported, but who would never take up an Arsenal reject and pay them a salary that’s probably in the top tier of their wage structure. This is why we will have trouble getting shot of Pepe, where we would expect both a transfer fee, and for someone to offer him a very large salary, all for a player not good enough to make our first xi. Can’t see too many lining themselves up for that deal.

I would assume there are also major concerns about his attitude given the way he's bagged us to the media. Do clubs consider that stuff in the purchase price Eds? I mean, he basically said he's never playing for us again, and it's a very weak negotiating position from Arsenal's POV.

{Ed002's Note - He is one of a number of unhappy players.}

May I ask Ed if Saliba and Gabriel CB are much happier now? I thought Pepe had this new attitude and ready to fight for his place! I wonder if he has said this because no-one wants to buy him or pay his wages elsewhere. Has Pepe been offered around? COYG.

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know if anything has changed in recent weeks.}

Thanks for quick reply Ed! Both seem happy but who knows.

It's just crazy sometimes. It appears that teams will splash out more money for player's potential and then they don't want to pay for a proven player.
