Seen on line we have agreed fee and deal in place for Higuain if we secure CL football, not sure if rumour or true maybe Eds can help but thought would pass on

Mate that was started by some naff foreign rumour site similar in nature but not stature to goal dot com and caught 'not onside', and all the article said was, in a nutshell, 'arsenal are interested, they had agreed terms but now Juve and some others are going to offer better' and there's no evidence that any of it is true.

What exactly were the clauses, if any, in Cesc's transfer? and is there any chance of us seeing him playng back at the Emirates next year?

Spurs fan in peace. I just want to say well done on your recent form, which I never doubted, and it all has made it for a great finale to a good season.
I'm thoroughly enjoying sparring with the top 4 regularly (hopefully) and long may our close battles continue.
I'm loving st totterings day now running to may (lol) and I hope you and ourselves sign some decent quality this summer and can maybe push Manchester a bit closer.
I not including the chavs in this, because I hope it all blows up in their faces.
Best of luck for the rest of the season, I actually think we will all get 4 points and finish as we are.
Good luck for your final games and look forward to the start of the new season. I know we have our differences but you play good football and haven't bought success like others have. See you next season. I can't wait.
COYS :)

Fair play to ye lad.

Nice 1 chap, let's hope no other tinytotts read ya comments and out you lol

That you Malaga?

I've actually enjoyed having decent compo from spuds, it's made it much more exciting than playing spurs and competing all season knowing they are hardly a match for us when at their best. Real top performances prefer decent competition from their greatest rivals. That's why the Everton Liverpool derby is so good. Now we just need to do our bit and make sure you don't overtake us. something which I worry about with Wenger in charge.

who would you prefer rooney or fabregas?

Someone on the their page said that Rooney was the face of Man Utd. Do we really want Arsenal to be that ugly.

Cesc all day long.

Agree0 Disagree0

That will keep me smiling all day.

I heard Rooney is to be the face of Weight Watchers

Chris

Agree0 Disagree0

Cesc.

Agree0 Disagree0

If anyone chooses Rooney over Cesc, and this is not an Arsenal Man United point, rather a footballing one, my head would explode

Cesc is a top 5 midfielder in the world. Problem is numbers one and two occupy his position at Barca. There is not a single other team on this planet he wouldn't start AND feature on

Best footballer WE have ever produced

Agree0 Disagree0

Few days ago didn't you say you wouldn't want Fabregas back US Gooner? Now he's a top 5 midfielder! Make your mind up

Agree0 Disagree0

He's a top 5 midfielder who quit playing till we sold him for cheap

We don't need to look desperate

We have a perfectly good midfield, we need a world class goal scorer

Hi ed, truly hoping wenger pushes the boat out and buys us a dominant midfielder and a world class striker. With the cash seemingly pouring in, these two players could massively impact on our hopes next year. We currently lack that x factor that seperates the great from the good. Our current strikers miss far to many chances to be relied upon and our midfield lacks a powerhouse who the football world would fear. Planet football is so big, I am sure with money at the ready, these marquee players are out there. Neliniho

hi ed's, great job. i'm hearing a considerable bit (only around twitter to be fair) about arsenal and higuain. I can't see that rumour having any weight behind it but maybe you could help? {Ed027's Note - Well he is available, Jovetic is first choice, I wouldn't rule him out as a alternative

Personally I don't Cesc back, as stated before in these posts, he acted pretty shamefully to get his move to Barca. Stay there pal.

HollowayHarry

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How did he act shameful? Hardly.

Agree0 Disagree0

How did he act shamefully?

He played well thru the end. Check your facts. He always stated his desire to return to his boyhood club, which just do happens to be the best in the world. His move wasn't motivated for money. He's no mercenary, and loves Arsenal to this day.

Agree0 Disagree0

He acted with pure class and dignity and could never be faulted!
Model professional. True Gooner!
Example to us all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ummmm didn't he refuse to play and refused to go on tour with the squad for preseason? even nasri played while his deal was being brokered.

Agree0 Disagree0

ARe y'all crazy? Part of the deal would have been 'we don't want Cesc to go on tour while we negotiate his transfer, we want him in the best condition possible given his injuries. ' Nasri didn't know what the score was til very late on as he thought he was staying, but Cesc negotiations were long and drawn out. There's no way Barca would want him playing in our pre-season given his injuries.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cesc forced his transfer through at 15 million below market value and then the Barca front office laughed about it in public

How are people's memories this selective?

Class player, yes. Left in a classy manner, hardly.

I don't care Barca is his boyhood club. He's a professional. And you act professionally to those who pay your wages.

People seem to be underestimating the point that Rooney and his family will not want to move to Spain or Germany, they are chavs. He may be very talented at football, but he'll have 2 kids and a proud scouser wife.
I can see him going to Chelsea once Mourinho is confirmed.
Paul

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Germany yes, Spain, disagree. More than enough chavs live in spain.

I am surprised no one is talking about the rumour that Jovetic has chosen Juventus. I am not really surprised because it keeps him in Italy. All along I took this Jovetic rumour with a pinch of salt. I remember very well that no one on these sites, not even the Eds, got any news about Nacho till it became an open secret.

Lanz {Ed027's Note - Monreal was a summer target which was fast tracked in a day

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That's probably because he hasn't chosen Juventus, and the deal with Arsenal is nearly done. Expect once the season is done it will be announced very early like Podolski and Giroud were.

Lets be realistic. When we qualify for CL next season, we will be in a good bargaining position for new players, but not the in demand flavor of the month sorts like Lewandowski.

We will look again at underperforming or unproven at top level stars - people LIKE Rooney/Villa/Jovetic etc, but please do not forget that thes eplayers still come with a wage that will be double what we pay anyone currently. Sure a transfer fee is attainable, but smashing our wage bill is highly unlikely. By smashing I don't mean 130k a week - I mean the 200+ that Rooneys etc are on.

That said - anyone who does not want a rampaging Rooney up front is in my mind crazy. When on song/fit/feeling the love he is a beast. Scares the hell out of opposing teams as well, and the sort of player we simply don't have now - also a no10 whos not a midfielder pushed on (Rosicky/Carzorla/Wilshire) but a forward with their instincts dropping off. Bring him in if any chance I say

Rob G

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's called a wage cut. It's what happens when players realistically will not be offered the same deal ever again. It happens. Samba was on 200kpw at Anzhi, now he's on less than 100kpw. One example. Fabregas another. People seem to have this random idea that a player will never ever take a wage cut or the club's bargaining skills do not cover reducing the wages of a player in return for a new chapter and first team football

Greetings Gooners and Eds,

I think we should all stop dreaming. There is no way Rooney will sign for Arsenal, he would have to take a massive pay-cut and would cost an extortionate amount while we have much greater needs in other areas like GK, CB, RB, DM, RW/LW, ST.

Apparently many people here don't rate Rooney, but I have always admired the way he plays the game; full of passion and drive and he is a very forceful player who can strongly influence the game. You can tell he used to play rugby.

The rumour is that Rooney and Nasri are both going to PSG but who knows.

Let's cheer on Stoke City this weekend!
Peace,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think Rooney would only leave Utd for Bayern, Barca, Real or Juve. don't think he would go to another club in Premier league as he would consider that a step down (it hurts but it would be a step down from Utd to Arsenal).

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea I agree mate as much as it hurts me to say this, Rooney moving from United to Arsenal at this point would be a step-down for him.

I can't see him playing for Barcelona but all the other teams you named seem possible and I would throw in PSG and even Man City could be an option. Our targets are elsewhere.

Peace,

David Villa to Spurs?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hate to admit this to you but there ain't much difference between arsenal and spurs now. The same players will be looked at. We can't afford what the mancs and chavs can. Arsenal will have CL and spurs have avb who is very highly regarded around Europe. That will be the bargaining tools.

Agree0 Disagree0

Levy will NOT pay over £12million for a 31 year old.
Don't you go worrying yourself.

Rooney is not going to happen whether we are interested or not as united will not sell to a rival, they are in a different position than we were for RVP.
IMO if we can get Julio Cesar, Micah Richards, jovetic/chicharito and higuain/lewondoski to add to our first team, we would have done excellent business and then we will have a team to play any formation and taken on anyone! {Ed035's Note - you say united wont sell to a rival but the you want us to go and get chicharito??? A little bit of a contradiction I'd say mate..

Rooney is an odd one, as in there is little doubt he has put in some exceptional performances in both the Premiership and the Champions league. Yet he hasn't produced that on the world stage. So does that make him world class or not.

Personally I think it's hard to say yes because of his failure on the biggest stage.

But and here is the difficult part, does he still have it in him to produce in the EPL and UCL. It's been pretty apparent he is out of shape and not performing this season in a variety of positions for United, he's looks far from happy and to me needs a change.

A move could be the catalyst for a return to form and him terrorising in the EPL etc for another team would be a distinct possibility with the right team and manager. Him at City or Chelsea on form would be a nightmare.

Everything about a fee and wages makes it pretty certain he won't be coming here, my point being, if he still has it he will be a bloody good buy for someone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey Ed0035, I was talking only for Rooney to be sold to the rivals, he is still a better player who could influence the results, so United will be mindful of that. They can very well decide not to sell as he still has 2 years and getting one hell of a pay.
For Chicharito, he will go down the pecking order once they get in a new striker :) {Ed035's Note - fair point I suppose but I highly doubt we will be signing any united players this summer
