Go Ozil!

Show them what you are made of on Sunday

"The 26-year-old has improved his assists per 90 minutes ratio from 0.17 to 0.34.

The World Cup winner is also now creating 3.4 chances per 90 minutes compared to 2.33 in 2014, 11.02 km per match in contrast to 10.39 km last year"

Impressive stats and now I want to see him deliver on the big stage - OT and Wembley

Next season be prepared for Ozil mania, summer off both mentally and physically and well adjusted to premier league football.
Critics will be few and far between 2015/16 season and people will be asking Hazard who's Hazard when he's at home?

15 May 2015 22:43:42
I think Sunday will tell us a lot about how much we do or don't need in the summer, if we can go there and win AGAIN :-) I think Arsene will consider us very close to where we need to be but should we lose to them (spit spit) then we might need to assess what we need to do because all rivals will strengthen over the summer.

Hi Ed, hear that we have stalled on the spyder deal, and we now are chasing kondogbia and William carvalho. Is there any truth in that, or are the spyder deal still on?

Great news.

The jacket potato will miss Sundays game.

Good news for us because he is by far their best player.

Can anyone enlighten me on the pros and cons of buy out clauses and how come Spanish teams use the a lot and we dont? It seems they quite often lose players for less than the market value because of them. Would it not make sence to have no clause, so they can ask what they want? But would it also not make sence for some English teams fearful of having players poached to have them so they can try and keep important players? Thanks if anyone can help

I don't understand it at all but from what I've gleaned from reading bits on here the clause isn't binding or at least not between clubs in the same country but I'm not even sure on that.
Personally I ignore it completely when I read a player has a buyout clause of x amount because it seems to me few players stay anywhere against their will no matter how long a contract they have, if Hazard wants to move this summer he will move as Suarez was always going to last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2015 23:52:57
i don't understand either, for example i just read atleti are trying to give koke and griesman improved contracts with higher buy out clauses to put off chelsea. if a club meets the buy out clause and the player wants to leave i assume they have to sell, so would it not make sence to have either no clause and ask what you want or a stupidly large one so you don't have to sell and if you want to sell just sell for less than the buy out

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - in Spain they are a requirement, that is why they have them.}

A lot of pundits have been saying that arsenals 'spine' is not good enough, referring to the main, central playing positions on the pitch. In my opinion, a striker such as Lacazette and Schneiderlin would be a successful summer, and I know it is unlikely, but Cech would be a great signing as well

How sure are we of what we have?
For me
Ospina 75%
Mertesacker 1%
Gabriel 75%
Chambers 40%
Le Coq 85%
Artetta 40%
Giroud 90%
kos 100%
Szczesney 40%
Welbeck (down the middle) 50%
Theo (down the middle) 30%
Poldolski 40%
So kos is OK Giroud and Le coq should be OK Gabriel and Ospina will probably be OK and the rest have a way to go to be even close to havung big part in a title challenge

I think to win the league you have to have a strong spine.

Chelsea had Courtois, Terry, Matic and Costa, hence why they won the league.

I don't think we are far away with Ospina, Koscielny, Coquelin and Giroud, but Cech, koscielny, Schneiderlin and Giroud is arguably an upgrade.

Bit tough on Per - as a pair, Per & Kos are a good partnership

Il be honest here SY4 and say I'm not a sac hater but I was thinking the other day. Is their partnership really that good. Or does kos make it look good with his covering and the fact he is just that good. For me it's the latter tbh

I can't believe Giroud got a 90% there. For me he would be about 40%. Just by changing Giroud with a worldie (more pace, better dribbling, better shooting) Arsenal's attacking efficiency would go u phenomenally. When we play counter attacks, Giroud is so slow that he is rarely ever in a position to finish off the move. When somehow he finds his way into the box, he is not clinical. I would die for someone with Suarez-ish ability.

All this talk of going out and making a new number 1 our priority this summer baffles me. Ospina has come in this season and has made us look so much more reassured at the back, and his stats speak for themselves:

15 PL appearances
9 goals conceded
7 clean sheets
Has only conceded more than once in one game, which was against Tottenham where he conceded two.

For his first half season they are quality stats and a definite level up to what we've had. We look so much more solid with him between the sticks and as a spectator and a fan I feel a lot more reassured with him in the team. The defence to me looks a lot more confident also.

Personally I think we should concentrate our efforts on a clinical finishing striker. That's where our team lacks when you look at the whole squad.

There's also been talk of a DM aswell, although Coquelin for me has proven his worth he's also shown us just how solid and balanced our team can be with a proper DM in our line up. I think this area should be our second priority, so eine who can share the responsibility with Coquelin.

If we manage to get quality players in those positions I feel we would have a squad capable of challenging on all fronts.

I agree he is a good keeper and I'm
Happy with him in goal. However if we can get someone like cech then we should get him. And To be honest I think our defence has improved more due to le coq than ospina

15 May 2015 17:32:17
Just a curiosity about these stats.

Ospina's selection as keeper coincided with Coquelin's selection in midfield. Defence was shored up, less shots were conceded, possession more controled. I'm sorry, but I see Ospina's success as a direct result of Coquelin's ability, rather than a happy coincidence.

Begovic?
27. £8m.
No brainer as Cech will not be allowed by Mourinho or Abramovich to join us.
Simples.
This plus Kondogbia, Breahinho and a swap (+ cash) for Theo and Sterling = KERCHING!

Oh and Bale would be nice too......

All this talk of "world class" players, here's my take... Arsenal are more likely to win the UCL and the league if we sign a world class striker than a world class keeper.

Ozil is brilliant. Watch his passes over the past 5 matches. Imagine if he had a Lewandowski/Suarez type striker running at the defence, how many assists would he have? The lad knows how to play an inch-perfect pass

Buy everyone anyone mentions on these pages. Then we will have nothing to complain about 😃. Agreed, we need a striker, a keeper and another player who can be an out and out winger like Freddie and Pires were - someone like Hazard - Lacazette?

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2015 15:10:41
Out and out winger... like Lazazette? Becuase Lazacette is an out and out winger isn't he YYC.

15 May 2015 16:31:01
Not an out and out winger. But a crazy good dribbler. Hazard like. Remember Ox against ManUtd? Like that. Flick of a switch and he's past three and bam! Reus is one such player who leaves me salivating. Draxler looks amazing. I wouldn't mind Sterling either. A year more and he'd be brilliant too.

Hi Gents. Firstly, I would like to throw in my two cents on Ospina: I fail to understand what he has done wrong. He has been very good. If you guys can tell me of a keeper who does not concede any goals at all, then we can replace him. I do not think it is mere coincidence that our good run of form coincided with him taking over from Sczezny. I think he is a good keeper and deserves to be number one

Point number two for me: Rambo is not a winger. Is he a good player? Yes he is but not on the wing. I feel like we lack that cutting edge on the right when he plays there. It's these small things that we might not notice when we win, but when we lose, then you are left wondering what if. Let's get some pace on the right wing for the game against United

For me Ospina is far more dependable and an improvement on Szczesney but not a very top draw keeper.
Arsene didn't want to change a winning team so Aaron played wide but that might change Sunday I guess, Walcott is a very big gamble that if he performs might he might well be a match winner but its more likely we would end up playing utd with 10 if we start with Theo, just just puts in far to many non performances for me.

Totally agree.

I posted similar the other day.

We have been screaming for half a season for an upgrade on Sczezny.

We have it in Ospina.

Let's keep him as our No.1.
