Do Arsenal lack a winning mentality in recent years.

Interesting.

Confidence is everything when it comes to being a consistent winner.
Ashley Cole once said during the invinsibles ' I know the time must come for this team to lose, but I just can't see how its going to happen'

Mertesacker, Ozil and Podolski all won the world cup 3 months ago. We also powered through some tough games to win the FA Cup last season. I think a "winning mentality" is not our issue this season.

For me it is our stupid 4-1-4-1 formation, lack of discipline from fullbacks and lack of physical strenght in midfield.

It seems reports of our injury meltdown have been heavily over done and some players are much further down the road to recovery than they were expected to be.
Reason to cheerful number 14

As long has we get Theo back I will be happy :-)

There's talk of the Anderlecht game Dags but I'd be a bit more patient than that with Theo and be thinking Sunderland/Burnley.
Better to miss Anderlecht and last 20+ games than rush him and have a relapse

Absolutely G62,

I would be happy if he played a part in the Burnley game, about 2 weeks time.

Paul Scholes on Wilshere: "I thought Jack Wilshere had two very good games for England over last week. I would go one step further than that and say that at the moment he is England's best player.

I think the penny has dropped and he has added another dimension to his game. He has always been capable of intricate passing. Now he can play the ball long, too. The quality of some of those passes into Wayne Rooney in Estonia was high.

You cannot underestimate the importance of eye contact between a midfielder and a striker in those situations. Wilshere mentioned it in one of the interviews that he gave and I would agree that it is critical.

With the great forwards I played with it was often the case that you did not need a call or a signal. Often it was just a look and it was enough to know where they were going. Wilshere and Rooney seemed to have that."

Love it hate him, he knows his stuff and I agree with him completely. Obviously he's not proved everyone wrong and the two games weren't of the highest calibre, but it shows that when needed, he can produce and you can only play what's infront of you. he's made another step in progressing to the player we all know he can be. COME ON JACK!! Do us proud. We love you.

I think Jack is a confidence player.

If he is playing well for England, than its good news for us.

My God,

I asked a simple question about Welbeck, Lukaku and Balotelli, and started WW3, lol.

Somebody had a pop at Ed007 for giving his opinion, even though it did turn into a slightly over the top rant by Ed.

The thing I like about the Eds is they don't just edit.
They get involved, eds like 025, 001, 002 and 007 partake in the conversation.

That's what makes this site so good.

Please don't have a pop at the Eds for giving their opinions.

PS, 007 feeling better now? Lol

{Ed007's Note - After that reaction I'm absolutely delighted, it's really helped me fill my daily quota of people I like to pi$$ off, some people just make it too easy though. that's why I cherish special days like today - I know I will sleep easy tonight.}

Unfortunately your mission this time was incomplete bond,, at least a couple of treble hooks thrown and not even a hubcab in response.

Kind Regards

Are there next generation British managers anyone thinks might be a good fit. Someone to watch for two-three years from now?

Or do we go for a big name international manager like Lowe?

{Ed002's Note - Steve Cotterill is someone being looked at as a possible solution for one EPL side.}

Quite simply no. Not for me. The club is beyond bringing in a relative unknown. It worked when Wenger came in for several reasons. Dein knew his football and knew the ability of Wenger. The club was going backwards under Rioch. All be it our success over the last 10 years has been woefull the consistancy the club has shown is there for all to see.
I'm the same as a lot of people on here that I feel Klopp is taylor made for Arsenal. Unfortunatly I feel there is an 18 month window from now for us to get him before another club like Man Utd/city, madrid,, Barca or Munich get him. Obviously Wenger has a 3 year deal so that also goes against us.
After Klopp I'd want a manager with strong European experience and I would also like representation from an arsenal player from our successful era under Wenger, someone like Bergkamp, Henry, Vieira or Lehman as number 2. Frank De Boer and Bergkamp, Joachim Lowe and Lehman 2 combinations I'd be happy with.

Thanks ED002. Appreciated. Rocky, I meant someone who is unknown now who would be established with a reputation in 2-3 years when Wenger goes (it seems clear Wenger will go this time, or at least vacate the mangers position). Still less of a track record than Lowe, i'll admit but not unknown. 3 years is a long time in managerial reputation.
