I'm not the biggest fan of Mario Balotelli, but the racist abuse he got from some stupid people on Twitter is ridiculous.

Some footballers get a lot of stick from the opposition supporters, none more than Balotelli, but if the guy can't tweet 'Man Utd LOL', without sick racist comments, than they should be ashamed of themselves.

personally, I don't tweet, but I think it bridges a gap between supporters and players, and at least it shows footballers as being 'just one of us'.

Shame on the people who call themselves football supporters whilst sitting behind a keyboard, using an alias, and making sick racist comments.

{Ed025's Note - i hate racism with a passion dags, its despicable in my opinion, but mario certainly done himself no favours there mate, why would you want to incite fans like that?, there are enough nutters on the terraces without players like him winding up other teams fans, we have seen in the past where dick heads have ran onto the field of play and attacked a player, one day someone is going to get seriously hurt, and things like his tweet do nothing to help..

If he put that about arsenal surely we would a laugh. Its only a game at the end of the day. We lose games. We don't like it but we get over it. If the dogs home donation is true then fair play to him. His face when adrian was over him was comedy he wasnt expecting it

Anyway the fact manu fans are reacting like that shows there just spoilt fans not liking the rough times. Long may it continue

If Balotelli put "Arsenal LOL" after Dortmund (for example) I admittedly would be annoyed and think less of him. But never in a million years racially abuse him for it. In a way i'm glad those nobheads did it so they can get investigated by police etc. Swift Justice.

Agree0 Disagree0

Even though I agree wih your comments peeps, What did he actually do wrong? Manchester United Lots of Love? lol. Jokes aside, he's actually being clever to win the Liverpool fans over pretty early, as they would love that and instantly call him a legend for it. That kind of tongue in cheek rivalry has been missing from the game. Remeber the match Theo got injured in? We called him an Arsenal Legend for that even though he was getting one pound coin pelters. To this day we still talk about his gesture to the spud fans. So for me I think that kind of team banter/rivalry spices the game up. I will tell you now though, he will get sent off or injurted in the Manchester United vs Liverpool match because they will try and hack him down for it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Racially abuse someone for saying LOL? what has the world come to.

what more can you expect than a liverpool player saying "Lots of love" and the other teams fans hating on that. Sad twisted world indeed

Agree Gents,

For me, it bridges a gap between their world and our world, and it proves they are supporters like the rest of us.

If he said it about Arsenal, I would have just laughed it off as banter.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest, had he said it about Arsenal, I would despise him from now until the end of eternity. However to go down that line of attack against him is pathetic, childish, personic and hypocritical.

I bet these same fans were in an uproar, waving their respect flags around when Suarez abused Evra in the same manner.

What's more perplexing is that this is 'Mad Mario'. There were so many incidents of his off field antics to throw back instead.

He grew up in Italy the adopted child of Jewish parents so sadly I'm sure this will not be the first incident of racism he has experienced. He looks a tough lad though, I'm sure he wasn't fazed by persons.

{Ed025's Note - i totally agree that racism is despicable dags, and i hate it with a passion, but for mario to tweet that was foolish and unprofessional in my book mate, some fans can be loose cannons and thats just showing a red rag to a bull, we have seen in the past where nutters have ran on the pitch to attack players, one day a player will get seriously injured, and inciting them on social media does not help..

22 Sep 2014 23:02:31
Agree to a certain point Ed, but whilst I don't tweet, can't stand it to be honest, Social Media is a very large part of society, and is available to all and sundry.

Surely, a player, having a light hearted dig at one of his rivals, should not be the subject of racist abuse? It is, after all, just banter.

But, like you correctly say, a red rag to a bull.
Unfortunately, some of these 'bulls' (racists) don't take much to get posting their vile comments.

Not being biased, but I can understand the 'Adebayor running the length of the pitch celebration' as being inciteful and out of order, but surely a light hearted tweet by a player should be classed as banter?

Although to some people, anything is an excuse to unleash a volley of racist comments.

Sometimes, its a sad world we live in Ed.

Just seeing the training pics, I would be suprised to see people like JW and Sanchez feature, there was no sign of the others no DW, Ozil, or Ramsey or any defenders. I hope to see Diaby get some game time, along with Joel Campbell. I expect rosicky, podloski, ospina and campell to start, with Bellerin, Hayden at the back. Not sure of the rest you guys fill it in.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Depending on stages of recovery, they do different types of training so they may not be with the squad outside, some of the players who featured Saturday may have been inside doing recovery work in the gym.

Far too injury prone for me.

I think we missed a trick for Mo Diame but would love a cheeky bid for Schneiderlin or even Wanyama.

DG I don't think SH would be parting with anymore of thier players.

Is Louis Van Gaal, Hans Brinker in disguise.?
As they are both Dutch and Van Gaal looks like he is trying the same method of plugging a hole to stop a flood with his finger.
That's what I'm going to refer to him as in future as they seem very similar.LOL

You could be right mate lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Hans bringer was in fact a different character within the same novel. Not to rain on your parade

Agree0 Disagree0

SAINT ARSENAL. Have a read mate.
Brinker's greatest heroic deed was when he stuck his finger in the dyke near Maastricht, thus preventing seawater from flooding the entire country and saving millions of Dutchmen from death by drowning. During this heroic feat, he had to resist angry American tourists who interpreted the act as a mere obscene gesture directed at them.
AND SO ON.
Sorry to rain back.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'll go with St Arsenal on this one, isn't the 'boy and the dyke' a story within The Silver Skates novel, and the boy is called Peter??}

Hand Brinker is acredited to be the boy with his finger in the dyke mate. The story is about a poor family where the kids (brother and sister Gretel) win a skating competition to buy medicine for their sick father. But Hans Brinker is the name that the fable associates with this deed. Or in modern terms his name would be Louis Van Gaal.:-)
