Wayne Rooney is just two goals away from being England's all time top goal scorer, just imagine how many he'd have had ever played in the actual finals of a tournament

Love him or hate him, he always does a good job in an England top.

Although, as you said mate, not in finals.

Its got to be said Dags his record against San Marino is impressive :-)
They must hate seeing his name on the team sheet.

Wenger said he was the best young English talent he'd seen after his goal for Everton against us.

He really should have gone on to be a World beater but to me has never fulfilled all that potential.

He had a period for United 5 or 6 years ago when he was top quality but never stepped up to become truly world class. It seems ridiculous that United have continued to play him in midfield when striker is so clearly his best position.

In all those 47 England goals he's never scored against Belgium, Spain, France, Portugal, Germany or Italy and only once against Holland.

When Ranaldo left utd all the talk was who they could get to replace him, obviously the answer was they couldn't but I thought and said at the time they already had the best they could possibly get and for one season Rooney lived up to it.
His personally and attitude have always cost his ability dearly, in euro 2004 he looked every inch a world super star in the making, shame

{Ed025's Note - im afraid the problem for him is his upbringing and family G62, you can take the boy out of his environment...but you cant take his environment out of the boy..

There's only one evertonian in football for me, and his name is ed0025. The others are pretenders to his throne, although to be fair he probably nicked it in the first place ;)

{Ed025's Note - hey...i resemble that remark saint...up here we see ourselves as modern day robin hoods...we rob from the rich to make ourselves not poor mate.. :)

Gascoin Rooney will England ever produce a player both mentally as well as physically capable of being talked of as the worlds best?
Seems to me those with the sense don't have the ability and vice verse

{Ed001's Note - that's because of the way they are handled as youngsters. They have it all handed to them on a plate when they are kids, while in many countries they have to struggle and fight their way to the top.}

For me hel look like steve Bruce when he retires

{Ed001's Note - bit harsh on Bruce that!}

Totally agree Ed001 too much too soon most definitely spoils lad and creates the brat, players like Ian Wright who came into the game that bit later and escape the pampering deffinately appear to have a true appreciation of their position.

Who ever updates the injury room site obviously has a sense of humour even if its a cruel one, all our injured players have an any day return date next to their names apart from poor old Diaby who has 200 years next to his name.
Obviously you'd expect him to retire from the game when he leaves this summer I just hope we have or will get him some help to come to terms mentally with no longer being involved.

Must be one heck of a calf strain to have out him out since last November. Clearly he is retiring at the end of the season.

The strain is that his calf is no longer attached to the rest of his leg

{Ed025's Note - that made me smile saint..
