Keep Sanogo.
Keep Campbell.

Sell (loan) Podolski.

Not impressed.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

None play so not sure it matters mate, I know what your saying but we have bigger problems than which sub goes where

Agree0 Disagree0

One of them would be playing pod when we need a goal.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would sell pod, sell campbell, loan sanogo. Obviously would be nice to keep pod, but he's never really fitted our team and why keep a player who wants to leave?

Agree0 Disagree0

AGREE Dags
I get excited when Podolski comes on, but sanogo, can't see what he does. For me he is another givinio.
But then I don't see them in training every day

Agree0 Disagree0

What other top 6 side would consider wasting a squad number on Sanogo

Agree0 Disagree0

Gervinho was miles better than songo. Gervinho would start for us left side if he was here

We have to many players who need a helping hand in too many games and not enough players strong enough to carry them plus them self's to a title.
Sanchez and Kos can hold their own plus cover one others on a lot of occasions, Ox Giroud and Debuchy can hold their own in 8/10 games but can't carry extra weight too.
You can only get away with 2 of Gibbs Merts Ramsey Jack Danny Flamini Arteta all playing in the same title challenging team as they all need carrying quite often and struggle to hold their own.
Carzola been in good form of late and Mesut played in the right position are may be's.
In short to few top quality players to carry too many fairly decent players to a title

Believable0 Unbelievable0

In simple terms what I'm trying to say is city and chavs have enough quality players to quite probably carry Ramsey and Gibbs to a title but would struggle to carry Merts Gibbs and Ramsey all playing at one time on a regular basis to a title.
We have too many players in the making and not enough ready to serve at the top table

Agree0 Disagree0

Rambo was the star plAyer last season - bit tough on him

It's a team game where everyone has their place. per is quality if in the correct back 4, Ozil is the same if he plays in the right role

I get your point but the best team wins not the best set of individuals

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree I'm being harsh on Ramsey SY mate but being generous has proven futile to date, its time to raise the stakes and expectations on and of all players if we're to ever move forward.
Its now or never time for Arsene and many players

Haven't posted here in ages because Wenger is just ruining the club and it's too depressing to think about, but I was wondering is there anyone that STILL inexplicably thinks he should be our manager?

If yes, WHY?

AW is still the best man for the job in my mind but he does need to sort out our team and performances as we have issues with depth of squad, injuries and a few first team members need upgrading or at least replacements in to bed them eg Arteta

02 Jan 2015 19:36:52
Agree with Welsh,

Unless Klopp or Simeone decide to jump ship, Wenger still deserves to captain our sinking ship.

Let's just hope he gets his finger out and signs a minimum of 2 top players.

Official, this is the worst start to the season so far since wenger took charge. Do we really need any more evidence the guy can't cut it no more. No other season after 20 games have we had less points. The evidence is damming and the results are shameful. We are going backwards officially, regardless of what peoples views are.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Steve
Dont you think we need to judge at the end of the season

Agree0 Disagree0

Welsh I judged him at the end of every season, I have stated many times my reasons and I have seen nothingvto change my mind. I know you will say but look what he has done and no person could do what he has. Well as far as i'm concerned he's done nothing that no other manager could have done. We have had the finances even in the last ten years to keep us in the top 4, we are richer than most clubs in the prem, idont think it is an exceptional acievement to have kept us above spurs, liverpool, Everton Newcastle, villa, West ham, etc. We now have even more finance and that on its own with all the amateurish things we are seeing going on on the field and mistakes in mismanagement, I honestly think any decent manager with a good tactical brain, with what he has at his disposal, would do a better job. I honestly think wenger is now out of his depth.

Agree0 Disagree0

After saying all that, he will not be leaving.

I'm still pro Wenger (just) but its hard to disagree with anything you just said.

Lol, I like that Derby.

Cracked me up :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Thehood i'm sorry but this many injuries every year there has to be something fundamentally wrong with training methods or recovery programs. every year we fail because of injuries and lacked a couple signings there's not many people to point the finger at for that

I expect the uaual 'Wenger' January window, with Podolski & Sanogo out. Perhaps one aging loan signing in.
We need a top quality keeper, two more quality defenders & two defensive midfiled players, We need to sell or release Flamini & Arteta. We need, in the summer to replace Mertesacker & Monreal, as well as release Rosicky.
I have a feeling this will be the season Wenger will resign, having failed to secure a top four spot.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good post robbie

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm expecting no one. usual stuff from Wenger " inflated prices" " not the right player for the club " we have 'x' 'y' and 'z' coming back " we have a strong big squad "

Your right Banbury, he is like a broken record.

Re yesterdays game/result, very disappointed in Szczesney but then again, why should we be surprised? He's a liability, has been even when we are winning and when he's playing well. Imo we have never replaced Lehman and until we do, we will never compete or win major championships. Great goalkeepers (generally) evolve with age, Szczesney is a good keeper and can play very well when he's shot stopping but like all young players, he's prone to errors and bad judgement. Wenger is persevering with him at the cost of results (and us), Ospina deserves a shot but in all honesty, we need to dig deep and buy an established, international class keeper from one of the top leagues.

Mert should go at the end of the season. I admire his attitude but he's been shown up both at club level and in the WC (when dropped for the latter stages and final) and is imo only in the team due to the lack of depth, experience and leadership at the club. I can't really fault Gibbs and Kos and Debuchy are international standard however imagine a Hummels, Kompany or Thiago Silva with Kos and a quality keeper behind them, the spine is drastically stronger.

Chambers was very subdued yesterday but I think I'm right in saying he played a large chunk of his short career Southampton as a DM. Its hard to say what role AW has in mind for him but imo he has the ability, strength and physique to be a very good holding player. Coquelin isn't the answer but to see a naturally defensive midfielder in the team shows up the problem we've all been shouting about for years now. Again, I think Gilberto Silva was the last player of quality we've had in that position, another AW has failed to replace.

Lastly, I think its a fact that we've converted the least amount of shots per Premiership team this season. Giroud has been out and Welbeck isn't a poacher, that explains a lot of the problem but I also think all our best attacking work is done outside the box. I'm thnking Sanchez cutting inside, Ox running at the full backs, we don't get the ball into feet enough in the penalty area. Wilshire out so often also effects this, he carries the ball and attacks the box. We brought on Walcott and Akpom but again, Theo does his best work running behind from wide positions and Akpom won't look good unless balls are played into feet, its a tactical issue, not personnel. If we end up buying Cavani, personally I think its a massive amount of money in the wrong area.

So, a long post which basically says replace Szczesney and a new center half and CDM, have I just re-invented the wheel?!

It's horrible too see my beloved club just falling apart, yeah we have injuries but it's no longer an excuse.

I honestly think this is arsenes last transfer window, if he balls this up then he's lost all my support, I don't want to be like this but if he doesn't address the issues that seriously need addressing then he doesn't support our club anymore.

Let's hope he has a good window aye .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Our players have become complacent lack any disapline and at times down right lazy.
New blood may give some a much needed kick up the jack and those it doesn't need to be gone asap.our club is full of mediocrity from top to bottom.
The whole mentality needs changing, new manger? Very likely that's what it will take but for now Arsene is in the last chance saloon

Agree0 Disagree0

I gave up on him years ago. Wouldn't stump up an extra 4mill for Cahill. He sticks to his valuations always even when others can see he should just pay the money

Guys
I have been an Arsenal supporter for 45 years and moved from the UK to Australia 3 years ago. I used to live in North London and went to Highbury and then the Emirates many times. I have visited this site for a while and read all the posts. Anyway, history over.

Let me state that I am as frustrated as anyone at what is happening to my beloved team at the moment. Yes we all want success, but most of all, we want a tram that fights, that represents Arsenal and that makes us proud.

What frustrates me is that we have the potential to be a great team. Everyone on this site can see we are 3-4 players short of that situation. We have been 3-4 players short for that past 4-5 years. We need a core - a poacher in the box, a solid midfielder, a central defender and a commanding goalkeeper. Need I say a spine?!

While we built the Emirates, I supported the Board and Manager and accepted that we had less funds for players and therefore in my opinion, the managerial skills of Wenger were unsurpassed. He built Arsenal.

However, now the stadium has been built, the funds available there are no excuses. We have bought Ozil and Sanchez. We have nearly but not quite. We need players of HIGH quality. Sanchez has shown that. So why does Arsenal still not realise that are a top team and continue to strengthen?

That is my frustration. I am tired of being 3-4 hours short. I am tired of losing to teams like Southampton. Tired of the excuses.

Do I blame Wenger? Do I blame the Board?

I blame the person who cannot see that the potential can be realised by investing. Success is stability financially but also success in winning.

Greeny is spot on with his comments.

I am losing faith in watching Arsenal.

Happy New Year Eds

How many players do you expect Wenger to buy in the January transfer market?

Wenger has discussed the possibility of loaning out Sanogo and selling Podolski. With that in mind, would you be surprised if he got a striker this January? I would think a defensive midfielder and a centerback are our priorities.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I suspect you have it about right.}

01 Jan 2015 23:47:18
I think the eds would need to lift the ban on expletives to sum up our season so far. We're a disgrace even with our injuries. I'd encourage everyone not to forget this point in our season moving forward because we always seem to paper over the cracks and at end of the day it's not good enough. We need to fix the fundamental problems that have plague the club for years now. This is not the Arsenal I know and love

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Indifferent isn't a sweary-word, Sheeny, neither is normal or the usual :)

At the end of the day injuries or not that was supposedly our first back five playing today

Agree0 Disagree0

Dave, does that not speak volumes about where we really are in the great scheme of things. First of all the standard of players and secondly the coaching. These are our first choice defence and they look like school girls.
Why! I still have nightmares about last seasons defending.

Agree0 Disagree0

That was my point steve I have heard all this talk about injuries but that was our first choice wenger can't complain or use excuses about injuries I am sickened mate

Agree0 Disagree0

While in a lot of respects the club is run well. On the field we are very amateurish and have been for a few seasons now. There is no guile or continuity in the way the players perform.
