Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

03 Dec 2015 19:43:46
This clubs true ambition has become apparent to me. They will claim they want to be as big as Bayern and Munich and barca.. But there is very little action when it comes to addressing basic issues let alone improving on things that could still be improved. I look at the likes of man city and tomorrow if could be other teams pushing hard and doing their best to become a true world footballing brand and leave us another step back. When IF EVER are the decision makers at our club going to gather their pride and push this club to the next level?

What is their motivation? And if it's not to be the best then we are fans still supporting these people and letting them run the club with mediocrity?

As an Arsenal supporter I'm beg fining to feel more and more taken advantage of

Thoughts?

For Stan money is all the trophies he needs or is fussed about and for Arsene he's lost his hunger and desire for football trophies because the Emerirates and invincibles are his legacies and he's more than content for the history books to judge him on those, for Arsene its job done.
Only when a new face arrives will we be even close to seeing titles high on the agenda again behind the scenes as well as when talking in front of a TV camera.

For me I think it will be
City
Utd
Arsenal
Spurs
Liverpool
Everton
Chelsea
Leicester.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - arsenal and spurs above utd and chelsea below leicester for me G62, but not a bad guess mate..

03 Dec 2015 21:21:54
I just think city and utd will do all they plausibly can to strengthen in January even if it means paying above the rate to get what they both want and need to push on for a title challenge, but as we know only to well Ed mate I'm not renowned for being right :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 19:12:40
Let's all be honest here.

The bottom line is we are now paying for the lack of activity in the summer transfer window and again let's be honest those that moaned about it were the one's thatsaw what has now hit us.

TFI's comment off we can't afford to rest Sanchez was him really saying, I haven't got enough talent to replace him because we have no strength in depth.

Now who was it on here that said Liverpool aren't a threat to the top four? Step forward because you will eat your words, and yet again we will end up in a battle and with a much improved Tottenham we may end up on the losing end.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

03 Dec 2015 19:31:36
It was me, in said Liverpool would finish 7th or 8th but I was talking about a Liverpool under Rogers at the time, now personally I think it's Arsenal Leicester Spurs Liverpool and possibly Everton all fighting for 3rd and 4th places.
City and Utd will strengthen in January to consolidate they title challenges.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 20:08:48
No 62 itwasnt you mate I was having a debate with A. N Other and had a bet . This was after Rodgers had left. Liverpool will be up there . and let me also say . Chelski won't be far off either.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - for me BG chelsea will finish roughly mid table, and liverpool will be battling for 4th spot but will come up just short..

03 Dec 2015 21:51:55
Fair enough Banbury mate, hope the culprit steps forwards, Dags :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 22:00:26
Banbury it was ubistonk the guy who has a Wenger statue in his garden no doubt. Shoots people down a lot it seems that guy.

But ye I remember you too betting.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 23:26:14
I think the least you can do Dags is pay up and let that be an end to it, whether you did it or not, I think that's only fair, don't you? :-)

{Ed's Note - We have posted a new article entitled, Gary Neville, Next Step Manchester United Manager?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Dec 2015 17:23:44
With all this talk of replacing Wenger. its a bit negative, it's like we are giving up this season. if this is our blip and we can stay with the pack until the Jan sales. we will have a gr8 chance. we are renowned strong finishers and always hit top form from Feb on. normal we are miles behind at this stage., everyone on about can we make the top four, that not the case this year. we are just two points behind city. I'm not Wenger biggest fan over his stubborness in the transfer market. look all we can do is get behind him and the team. hope he goes mental in the January sales, if it is his last season. when he does go. hope pep and Carlo don't get the job. like mourinho they need a shed load of money and don't stay to long . think Alan pardew could be a good shout. if he not the next England boss.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i agree on the negativity sligo, arsenal are still very much on course, but you are being a bit naive to think there will be a spending spree in january mate, one at the most i suspect, and that will not be enough..

03 Dec 2015 18:09:33
We need to forgdt about another manager coming in for 10-20 years not happening. If you don't want Carlo or pep then I do worry. I'd take either.

If you can name a better candidate who you think?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you will need one after next season derby..

03 Dec 2015 18:14:51
Maybe two could be enough ed if we get our injuried players back. there no stand out team. points are being dropped when we least expect it. holding mid and top class centre half is what's needed. welbeck, Theo, giroud and sanchez should be enough in attack. if we had a leader at the back instead of bfg. ts a lot of ifssss.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - a striker, holding mid, and a centre half would do sligo, only its not happening in january mate..

03 Dec 2015 18:34:29
We are counting the squad plus additions which like eds says. 1 in Jan seems likely. Two would be a nice surprise.

Will we get more injuries before the end of the season? Yes.

Welbeck back on the date given will be a big shock. And rosicky normally trains for weeks then slowly comes back. Love the guy amazing player but he's been a let down in his decade here.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 18:35:08
Eds I meant a manager staying that long lol sorry. Not look for a manager in 10-20 years lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - oh right...the school you attended must have been an approved one derby mate.. :)

03 Dec 2015 18:36:56
Do you honestly believe derby when Wenger calls it a day, the board are going to give the new manager 75m up every transfer window. pep got jobs at the two best teams in European football and spent a bit, but had world class players right through his squad. carlo was at Milan, Chelsea, psg and Madrid. top clubs in there leagues but had and spent a lot of money. I think a pardew, Martinez could do a serious job at our club. we don't wanna start buying leagues like Blackburn, Chelsea and city.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - im with you actually sligo, i see arsenal like everton as a proper football club mate, any idiot can buy the league if they have enough money, bringing youngsters through and picking prospects from lower leagues is the hard bit..

03 Dec 2015 18:42:07
I think you are also fogetting T F I's views ob the January window, he thinks everyone gets ripped off and prices are over inflated .

Dont forget most of the quality ( if not all ) will be in the CL.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 18:52:58
We don't always finish strong Sligo mate 2014 we threw the lead away and narrowly pipped Everton for 4th in the end, the reason then was because we didn't do what was needed in January to boost a tired Giroud and injury hit squad.
I think it's from this constant neglect of need in every transfer window and the constant good half bad half see saw of seasons past that the negativity comes, no one actually expects Arsene to do all possible to make us champions just what he chooses.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 19:03:37
True, but its the league we want. champs lge might be a bit unrealistic. buy players who are cuptied and just play them in the league. might stop a few injuries. only a hand full of teams can win champs lge so players might nt be to hard got. diego simonie would be a good call. worked wonders at athletico with limited resources.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 19:16:27
For us the chances are we will out of this years champions league this time next week, but a lot of top players won't be so will wish to stay put until the summer, which works out quite nicely for Arsene.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 21:58:20
I believe the next manager will spend yes. There will be no choice but to.

Everton v Liverpool final Ed025?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i would sooner it be everton stoke mate..

03 Dec 2015 19:34:56
An all Merseyside final would be a great occasion though mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im afraid i dont want liverpool any where near wembley
or europe G62,...im bitter you see.. :)

03 Dec 2015 07:52:37
With Wenger set to leave in 18 months, realistically who are we looking at to takeover?

Pep to City has been done to death but would he be right for us?

Arrogance aside for thinking it's even possible, could Klopp still be our man? I certainly like his footballing ethos and style although his shell suits are more suited to Liverpool.

Is there an under the radar contender or are we likely to go for an established name?

Robbie, this is not an opportunity for you to say we should have got rid of Arteta in the summer! It should happen this summer, though.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Dec 2015 08:21:50
Obviously Pep and Ancelotti both head the dream list but both of them will have lots of options available this summer at wages we couldn't match so in the realms of reasonable possibility Ronald Keoman Is probably as good as any of those who look gettable this summer.
My big concern is the board go for another company man who sees a great financial situation as a trothy each season and CL qualification as job done, the problem for the club is any managers worth their salt will want to spend that big stash of cash to build a team to compete for big trophies.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 09:27:15
Interesting. I am not certain Wenger will depart at the end of the current deal. However, my own choices would be Ancelotti or Guardiola. Unfortunately a decent shout would have been Pochettino, but I can't see this happenning now. An under rated manager in my opinion is Pardew, I am not sure that he could take the huge leap up to manage a club of Arsenal's size.
I am sure the board would give the same backing to a new manager as they have given to Wenger and would release the purse strings should the new manager divert from Wenger's extremely cautious spending policy.
I can't imagine the club without Wenger at the helm. I would love to see him make a couple of top signings in the January window, followed by a couple more in the summer. Not that this will happen!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Wenger has already told the club when he is leaving.}

03 Dec 2015 09:49:00
That's one of the biggest problems with Arsene no one really trusts him on transfers because there's always a reason he didn't/couldn't/wouldn't sign players each window, I hope the next manager will build a better and more trusting relationship with the fans rather than leave the whole of football scratching its head to understand his logic.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 09:57:19
Ed002 - Wenger has only hinted that he will leave at the end of his current deal. My own feelings are that he will leave then and he may look to manage the French national team, if the opportunity arises or possibly manage PSG and return to France. His marriage has failed and his daughter is now grown up and will be around 20 years of age when his contract at the club expires, probably studying at university making his choices easier. It will be wierd not having him at the helm, many fans only having known him as manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he has done more than hinted and had to be persuaded not to leave early.}

03 Dec 2015 10:03:31
Wenger is leaving end of next season, definitely.
I think we will get Ancelotti.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 10:25:47
His thoughts on financial doping may stop the PSG link. He should of took the job few years back. He played his cards out on financial fair play ages ago. Hard to back track now

French national job would be a smart move but he does like the day to day running. He will have a hole left in his life when he leaves. Its like a lifer suddenly leaving jail

Head of uefa wouldn't be a bad job for him either.

Our next manager won't be here for say 10years times have changed. Get a manager in and see where we go. Carlo would do like dags said.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 13:56:49
Whatever you think of Wenger, i hope he is part of the interview process for his replacement. God help us if its down to Chips Keswick, Stan Kronke and Ivan Gazidis to interview and sign a new manager! Still that being said, i have a feeling that we might go for De Boer and Berkamp from Ajax.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 14:25:42
What will bergkamp do when we play Norwich he's not keen on flying haha.

Cazorla out three months, sancez and coq out, can it get worse. No titles this year guys, and i'm the realist.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Dec 2015 07:20:42
With Wilshere, Rosicky, Walcott and Welback coming back, if we were to make a couple of serious signings (a defensive midfield player and a more attacking midfield player) , then we could cover the loss of Coquelin and Cazorla, until they return.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 08:03:16
RG. It just isn't happening mate.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 08:39:03
I'm surprised Carzola is out for so long especially with the excellent treatment he received, I mean finishing the game must have shortened his time out no end.

Agree2 Disagree1

03 Dec 2015 08:49:51
derbygooner - I'm not so sure, as I believe Wenger must now realise that Arteta, Flamini and Rosicky will depart in the summer, so he can afford to sign a couple of players in the January window, that is of course if they can be prised away from their clubs in what usually proves to be a difficult window to operate in. I would like to see us sign Wanyama who will give us the physical presence we need in certain matches in the PL. However, I do not think he is technical enough for Wenger. In midfield I would like to see us sign Mahrez from Leicester, but again this will prove a difficult transfer to conclude.

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Dec 2015 09:16:29
Mahrez not for me mate. Good player though but we need better

Wenger won't fix the problem this jan it should of been last summer anyway. He gave arteta and rosicky new deals.

He may sign one. Poss two. Hel say its a bad window. All players are at big clubs. Don't want to sell zzzzzz

He's ran out of excuses I'm afraid.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 09:31:37
I don't expect too much in Jan window, mainly because Arsene won't splash out and there aren't too many players available.

I expect us to carry on, as you have said, we have players coming back, so we will just have to crack on.

But, I expect a big clear out in Summer.
Arteta, Rosicky, Flamini and Campbell to go, and I wouldn't be too upset if Wilshere left, spend the money on Carvalho.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 13:48:22
With our over-reliance on our star players I can't see Ozil making it through to Christmas unscathed. so there's definitely potential for the injury situation to get even worse.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats it alibo..always look on the bright side mate.. :)

03 Dec 2015 15:16:12
Ed025. Give me one good reason why I shouldn't think this way. My employers put great emphasis on using past performance to help predict future trends. Using that forecasting technique I'd say my comment is all too accurate (sadly) . unless you know something different.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i do know that all teams get injuries alibo not just arsenal, its part and parcel of the game im afraid mate, the solution is to have a squad that is big enough and good enough to rotate players, unfortunately arsenal dont and are now paying for that, so tell your employers that ED025 can solve all their problems through forward planning.. :)

03 Dec 2015 17:01:35
Ed025. in your eloquent way you've made my point for me. Too small a squad = an over-reliance on star players = inevitable injuries to those star players. My point about my employers was only to emphasise that Wenger and the board don't seem to realise that injuries are entirely predictable and that pompously and piously leaving yourself short of numbers is a recipe for disaster.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i could not agree more alibo, all the supporters and media knew this from the start, so you would think the manager and board would have realized it!, now im a massive arsene fan, but he can be very stubborn and this one may well come back and bite him on the arse mate..

03 Dec 2015 00:31:38
Wenger's contract expires end of next season.

Pep's contract expires end of next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 05:54:30
Even if we get Pep, he won't stay for more than 3 years. He wants readymade players and doesn't wait around and build team after teams. It'll most likely be an ex-arsenal player I think. Someone like Bergkamp or even Viera maybe.?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 08:15:03
His contracts up this year isn't it or has he extended now?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2015 09:34:01
Good shout Wes.
Derby, I think Pep's contract expires end of next season.
Bayern want him to sign a long extension but Pep doesn't seem too keen on the idea.

Dream on Steve, lol.

03 Dec 2015 10:31:17
It expires this summer dags. They want it extended. He could want to win champs league and walk away tho. Time will tell.
