what did you guys make of the way juventus played? looks like we should have pushed a bit more for morata, he looks like a quality player.

i was not too impressed with juventus, felt it could have gone either way, with madrid wasting a few open chances.

most of the team offensively had a good game, defensively not soo much, but decent. but where was bale?

i did not notice him, and i did not realise he was playing till ronaldo went up top with hernandez and they needed bale to create. and man did he stink it up.

why is he soo bad? is ronaldo making out with his gf during halftime or something. he's lost his kahunas. guy needs a change and quick.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 May 2015 23:25:19
Let's just remember, it's gareth bale, not Zidane. He's 27 and had three good seasons in his career. Why's so much expected of him?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - because hes a quality player saint, and one who may be available so why not mate..

06 May 2015 00:38:23
hes 25, can't see us buying him ed, so i hope madrid keep him if he joins chelsea or utd it will be bad

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - 25 is a good age to buy someone eden, if he does go im sure arsenal are in with a good shout mate..

06 May 2015 08:45:35
He's an excellent player and every fan wants their team to sign excellent players when they become available that's only natural, but I don't think we should become obsessed about who city chelsea or utd sign its what we do that matters much more to us than what they do or don't do.
Being the very best we can be that's as much as we can control or should even want to control IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 May 2015 09:13:05
Why does it matter who chelsea buy? It won't change the way they play, they'll still only get a 0-0 draw at our place next season

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed008's Note - And with that, finish ahead of Arsenal yet again..

06 May 2015 09:19:09
if bale needs the ball to perform like he did at spurs, he is going to have a baaaadd time.

wenger is already pressing alexis to release the ball early, to spread the play, to keep the positions moving, rather than your team mates wondering where do i go, as he has just decided to make a run for the sake of it.

Do i rate bale, yes..he is an exceptional player, but i reckon his current level of play is similar to hazard. is he worth 100 mill? not too sure about that. rather have marco reus to be honest.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 May 2015 10:40:09
Saint,

You left yourself wide open for Ed008, lol.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 May 2015 11:29:06
Ed008's having a pop, good to see you ed

If Bale joins Chelsea, he wouldn't be the best player in their squad - not the way he is currently playing at Real atleast, plus we all know Chelsea are famous for making world class players look mediocre (Deco, Ballack, Shevchenko, Torres, Robben, Sturridge, Crespo etc.)

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed008's Note - IMO if Bale were to sign for Chelsea he'd be right up there with Hazard as one of the best players at the club, just short of confidence at the moment due to Ronaldo demanding the ball all the time.. Plus yesterday he was just coming back from a calf injury so it didn't surprise me he was ineffective throughout the match. Define World Class players? Can't have Sturridge being on par with Crespo and Torres..

06 May 2015 15:19:20
Semantics, I was going to leave Sturridge out because he isn't world class but the point remains - he never had any sort of form at Chelsea which could be down to playing on the wing. P.S you could have him being on a par, if not better, than the Torres we saw at Chelsea surely?

I do have to agree with you about Bale and being in Ronaldo's shadow but not all players can get their confidence back once it's gone. Reality is he'll be up there with Hazard at Chelsea but it's an expensive gamble to say the least.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 May 2015 16:35:00
Bale, Costa, Fabregas and Hazard?

We might as well give them next seasons title now.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - add a world class striker to sanchez, ozil and santi, and there would not be much between them dags..arsenal will win the league next year mark my words..its in the stars mate..

06 May 2015 18:34:45
Hope you are right Edward.

I will send a kebab special delivery if you prove to be correct mate :-)

Agree1 Disagree0

06 May 2015 19:56:29
Ooh ed, but who's the world class striker? Dybala? No ta! Higuian no, no, no! Benzema? Would rather a Mercedes benz! So who is there? Aguero, suarez, lewandoski who else? Muller (yes mother fudging please)? These guys are all in their own bracket, and rightly so, but to be honest, which one of them would leave their current team?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - benzema would do nicely saint..

06 May 2015 20:10:48
Let me tell you why, aswell, because I hate it when names are just thrown out there. Lewandowski, has that van persie esk sort of power to pick the ball up turn and shoot, not only that but he's good in the box and has good feet, he is also strong and could bring into play our other players. Aguero? He's demunitive in stature yet strong and has an excellent balance, he can riggle through defences and reads the game very well. A nice player to have against Chelsea and other compact sides.
On to suarez, he has a dogged determination to score and a do or die/bute attitude, when it comes to beating his man, he's inventive, when it looks like all is lost, he pulls it out the bag.
Muller, the space finder, as they call him in Germany, Niether a forward, nor a winger, nor a playmaker, he is as comfortable up top as he is deployed on The wing, a total footballer in the sense that it doesn't matter where you start from all that matters is doing what you do. He scores goals he creates, he crosses, he's as comfortable in a 4-3-3 as he is in a 4-4-2, people talk about lukaku being the new style of all striker, strong and fast, powerful and delicate, but muller, muller is different and yet in somehow more of a complete player. He can run from inside to out and outside to in and is equally as comfortable, he can create from wise positions, score coming from wide positions and is as comfortable doing the same from inside to put wide. Ahh simple perfection

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i enjoyed that saint, cracking summary there mate..

06 May 2015 21:32:45

Kn@bhead Stewart Robson wants Jack to move away from Arsenal

Love it when ex players show great loyalty to their ex clubs and always offer a balanced opinion on how they perform & conduct business

Wait - that's not SR, he's just a headline grabbing nobody

Believable1 Unbelievable0

05 May 2015 23:26:51
Because moving away from arsenal will mean he won't get injured again right? Oh wait no, he'll still be effing jack wilshere

Spyder seems to be on everyone wish list. But if I had choice of a Southampton midfielder then ill go with Wanyama.

Le coq has been magnificent since he came into the team and he should be our first pick next season. He doesn't deserve to be dropped. Spyder is a fantastic player but extremely similar to Le coq. Wanyama has better distribution and is so much more powerful. For me we need someone to play alongside Le Coq and cover him if he's unavailable. Don't think Spyder and le Coq will be effective.

Watching Cazorla form this year in that deeper position along side Le Coq show how important it is to have someone in that anchor position but also shows how important it is to have someone in midfield to be able to pass out.

For me Le Coq and Wanyama is the combination I want to see next year. Thoughts?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - are you being serious? You think Schneiderlin is more like Coquelin than Wanyama? And that Wanyama has better distribution? Wanyama's weakness is his distribution and he is the one who is like Coquelin, while Schneiderlin is not a defensive midfielder, more of an all round midfielder.}

05 May 2015 23:28:07
Thoughts? I agree with es whole heartedly

Agree1 Disagree0

06 May 2015 08:45:34
Would take Schneiderlin over Wanyama any day.

Wanyama is more of an enforcer, very good at it, but Schneiderlin's game is better all round.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 May 2015 10:07:39
Our midfield is generally great, all we need is an enforcer Dags and even then we have Coq now. I really don't know who I'd prefer to be fair.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 May 2015 14:18:20
I would go for Spyder of the two mentioned.
But as an left field option Van Dyke of Celtic, I've watched a lot of their ggames and i know he plays centre back for them but the boy could play anywhere, his vision and distribution are superb.
And the added bonus he can slot in at the back when we have our annual centre back injury crisis!

Agree0 Disagree0

06 May 2015 14:27:20
Just don't get this whole Wanyama is as good as Schneiderling debate, he's not in the same league. As a clue just look at Southamptons results when Schneiderling has been out injured. Wanyama looks good when sat next to Schneiderling, who has more pace and vision and looks completely lost when Schneiderling is out of the team. The few games i have watched Southampton play on TV this year, Wanyama has looked completely out of his class when up against fast nimble midfielders, such as Silva. If we sign another midfielder, he has to be a player that will improve us, and i only see Schneiderling being that player.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 May 2015 21:34:09
Perfect,

Totally agree.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2015 19:31:24
not arsenal related but the rumblings that chelsea head honchos emenalo and some chick with a russian name are trying to sign a very big player, and from what gary neville said last night it seems that player is Bale.

we get soo close and they pull away again. damn.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - some chick with a Russian name? That lady is the one who runs Chelsea and is in large part responsible for turning them into such a well oiled machine. I think she deserves a bit more respect mate.}

06 May 2015 15:23:29
i do not know who she is. i am aware she is in a position of power (hence head honchos), i did not mean to offend her name rather give her credit in another way.

it sounds wrong when you think it and write it i guess.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I can't spell her name either, which is why I put what I put. It just sounded a bit disrespectful to call her a chick.}

07 May 2015 14:47:45
The term "chick" isn't especially disrespectful:

"Was at the bar and just say these two really tidy chicks"

"I really like that chick; think I'll ask her for her number"

In any case, the name that is eluding you is Marina. That's the chick's name who runs Chelsea.

Do I win a prize?

And just so no one feels like I'm being disrespectful, I'll try and endear myself to the crowd with a joke in true Dags style:

I went to a zoo the other day. It was empty except for a single dog. It was a Shih Tzu!

Tada!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - sharpe by name only then mate.. :)

07 May 2015 16:38:02
Harsh Ed025, harsh!

Maybe this one will make you like me ...

What kind of bagel can fly?

A plain bagel!

Tada!

{Ed025's Note - i really like you sharpey...so no more jokes!....well ones that are that bad anyway mate..

05 May 2015 21:06:31
I'd like to see 4 players coming in the summer gk cech
Defender howdes
Cm Morgan Schneiderlin
St/winger rues/ Higuain

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 May 2015 23:30:05
Why? What would those players genuinely add to our first 11? I'm not saying they wouldn't. I just want to know why you think they would?

Agree0 Disagree0

06 May 2015 07:41:37
Better goalkeeper than we have, howdes cover another midfielder to sit with le coq and a world class winger with goals or a world class striker with goals not hard to see mate it's not that hard to work out

Agree0 Disagree0

06 May 2015 09:09:09
Yeah but why these guys, with the exception of Cech we have players that can do what this lot can do anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 May 2015 09:33:02
Nobody will get us more goals than hig and out Sanchez on the left and reus on the left and he will do the same and we have nobody like them in our team apart from sanchez

Agree0 Disagree0

06 May 2015 11:30:27
That's the most confusing sentence ever Jelfy!

Agree0 Disagree0

06 May 2015 15:28:51
Really? Higuain who has scored less per min this season Than Goroud in a far inferior league, don't bother telling me that seria A have a champs semi finalist and the Pl doesnt, because I know and frankly it doesn't change the fact that the prem is far superior

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im with you on that saint..

06 May 2015 15:34:47
As for howedes, why? It doesn't make any sense! Reus talk, is just stupid, an injury prone player who won't leave Dortmund, pointless talking about him and schneiderlin is a good player, but he's a big fish in a small pond, everything revolves around him in midfield at southampton, not really sure what he could do for us, he picks the ball up and aprons attacks from deap, he's not the sort of aggressive, pressing midfielder that we need at arsenal. Like coquelin and wilshere

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - are there any players you do like saint?..

06 May 2015 16:19:02
Yeah, ed, the ones who play for arsenal

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - and thats fair enough saint, but in 30 years time when they are all on zimmer frames you may be in trouble mate.. :)

06 May 2015 16:21:43
i was wondering that ed! :P saint, you would rather have wilshere play DM than schniederlin? he's far too undiciplined, one of his best atributes is when he gets the ball and runs at players, but that's the last thing you want from a DM! leaving the defence exposed when the whole point is to protect them, that's why coqs so good, he wins the ball and moves it on without getting in front of it

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - your right eden, jack is not a natural DM..

06 May 2015 17:59:38
Where, where Did i say I wanted jack as a dm? I said I want more ball hungry, aggressive players who go looking for the ball rather than sit and wait for it. Christ almighty

Agree0 Disagree0

06 May 2015 20:27:27
Wilshire is rubbish if city offer 30 m I'll drive him there myself

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - come on jelfy hes far from rubbish mate, hes a damned good footballer who,s only flaw is a bit of immaturity..

06 May 2015 20:31:41
Everybody seems to have changed there minds about higuain u all wanted him 2 years ago, and about serie A isn't that youngest your all raving about play in it pmsl, read my post I said players I would like to see, last time I checked with the mrs I was aloud an opinion 😁

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - then you have a more understanding wife than me jelfy mate.. :)

06 May 2015 21:02:01
I think reus is not the completed article, but he has immense talent and would love to see him sitting alongside ozil and Sanchez. Now that would frighten a few defences. Would Reus come, probably not, and if he did only for one season before one of the Spanish Mafia come calling, however to be fair to Jelfry, whether he would come is not part of the post....

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2015 09:40:03
The youngster? Dybala? Yeah I've said before I hope we don't sign him, make because he's playing in Italy.
10, 15, 20 years ago, Italy was a good league but not these days. They still play the dull catenaccio style football without the flair of players like del piero, inzagi, Ronaldo etc. the best team to come out itally was sacchi's total footballing side. And they were as far from the current catenaccio style sides, you see in seria A now, as you are likely to see

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Don't worry, if he arrives you can trash him then.}

07 May 2015 10:04:47
Well look at gervinho for example, a bit of pace and unpredictability goes a long way in itally, especially with the amount of time you have to shoot in and around the box! That's why you see a lot of 'worldies' in seria A

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2015 18:50:58
dont know if anyone else saw this article on kos but i was quite amazed by the stats, i knew but not quite how dramaticaly:

Since August 2013, Arsenal have a win percentage of 73 per cent in Premier League games in which Koscielny has completed 90 minutes compared to just 39 per cent without him. They concede 0.65 goals per game compared to 1.83 without him, and have a 54 per cent clean sheet ratio compared to just 13 per cent without him.

that was before the hull game as well, so will be slightly better again. i would be tempted to try and play mert and gab together in a couple games before the end of the season to see how they work out together before the end of the season and if they struggle look at replacing mert in the summer rather than risk kos getting another injury early next season and having the same problem we had at the start of this one

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 May 2015 19:29:44
cant risk gabriel now. perhaps if city slip up and we have a 3 point cushion we can do that. but we want 2nd and we have to play every game to our best.

man utd away is going to be the big game now. and i would urge wenger to get ready to play for a draw as that's all we need. we need to prepare for such results and that's the opportune time to do it.

they need to win to get 3rd and we need to sit back and counter.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 May 2015 21:27:56
Personally I'd love to see a young CB come in the summer who is a long term successor to kos and who along side Gabriel and Chambers will be a big part of our future, sorry Ed025 but Stones or similar would be ideal.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i know he would G62, and if he was to leave i hope it would be to arsenal mate, but hopefully hes staying putt..

06 May 2015 06:54:53
Isn't chambers our long term successor?

Agree0 Disagree0

06 May 2015 10:13:54
Don't forget Isaac Hayden, when do we reckon he's going to break through?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i thought he broke through when he wrote "shaft".. :)

06 May 2015 11:31:37
Haha, I'll give you that one Ed

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i just cant help myself sometimes TPG.. :)

05 May 2015 18:34:01
Hood me old mate how you sliceing this pie up?
Is it reserved only for those who were tired of getting beaten the same old way year after year because of a lack of DM and wanted Arsene to change or go but are now very happy? If so serve me a large slice but if it also applys to those who said Arsene knows best when he so obviously was wrong then best cut your slice nice and big double slice because since Arsene changed his view we've been the best team in the country by a distance and that's because we now have a DM at last, would we be champions if we'd starred the season with one? Who knows!
Personally I say let's ditch the pie division completely and ALL enjoy the champagne times together and leave the past where it belongs.
But if that's not to your taste I'm happy to discuss further mate

Believable2 Unbelievable2

05 May 2015 19:14:42
Good post G62.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 May 2015 06:49:05
Well let me put this way g62, the team is playing and a lot of the credit needs to go wenger because he always has faith in his players. Ramsey on the wing? Now who would have thought of it. That post was for people who kept on moaning when the team wasnt playing well, i have always said this its easy to bash the team when they aren't playing well, but have the guts at the end to come out and say u were wrong

Agree0 Disagree0

06 May 2015 09:25:44
Arsene deserves great credit for everything he's done for Arsenal football club no question on that Hood but he was very very wrong to ignore and totally refuse to address for so long the obvious weaknesses that held us back for so long from being we all we could be and only those who refuse to accept the facts would argue with that.
In January he did exactly what everyone had wanted and signed a quality CB after leaving us terribly short there in the summer and finally addressed the DM as best he could ( the fact that le Coq haw been outstanding is open for debate on luck or judgement by Arsene), then because the players refused to go to city and lose in our time honoured usual manor anymore he used less naive tactics and now we are in a brilliant position to finish top 2 for the first time in how long? true or not hood?
Mate I'm not sure why you bothed baking this pie in the first place but I do think you should be good enough to take a really healthy bite before you try and serve it to others.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 May 2015 11:06:15
Hahaha i loved that last line G62, i wouldn't mind taking a bite of my pie, but i always have trusted this team, patience is something we learn being an arsenal fan now don't we. Well he defo got the Coq wrong, he himself has admitted it, that his form has been a suprise and he was going to release him for free. So he got that one wrong but credit to Coq for his performances, and the credit to wenger for the opportunity. Now regarding CB that's been an ongoing issue, we ofc have no idea how much he tried, no one will know. Because i mean come on Gabriel is real quality, in the few games i have seen him play. So i guess it isn't easy to find a proper CB, the whole world knows even utd needed a CB they couldn't find one either in the summer or in Jan. We could have gone for the mediocre ones in Lovern, or Alderwield, but seriously we are no more targetting average players, just to get us over the line, and quality signings do take time.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 May 2015 12:16:43
To be honest mate I'd just as soon take the pie off the menu completely and all enjoy the champagne moments that are here now and look like may well increase greatly in the years to come.
We got here and that's all that matters and the how's but's if's and maybe's like all else will soon be where they belong in the history books.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 May 2015 16:48:36
Ok let's replace it with Champagne once we win the FA Cup. Villa seem to be hititng form, and that beast benteke is scoring for fun.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - villa are a poor side hood...4-0 for me mate..

05 May 2015 17:28:23
So I was browsing the news, and I came across this article saying that this Dangote bloke wants to buy Arsenal in a few years.

Not claiming to know anything about how a club is bought and sold, but ed, can you see Africa's richest man buying in, or is this just an unrealistic fantasy of his?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I know nothing of it, sorry.}

was listening to Gary nevile last night at what jose has done with Chelsea he got rid of a lot of players, which arsene need to do, Chelsea will also probably get rid of drogba, mikel, ramires, marin, moses and make 1 or 2 big deals ie bale and pogba with hazard playing the no 1o role this would make them in my eyes a top 4 team along with Madrid, barca, munich I think arsene needs to be ruthless and do the same

tbh I'm off all pages for the foreseeable future as it happens hood.

What humble pie should I be eating? Because last I checked u were still 10 or so points behind Chelsea and in the same position as last year's team that again went on a run to give u all false hope..so excuse me if I don't congratulate u on your 2015/16 title just yet. (Mind u there are plenty on here already doing that) how nice is it having a poster that watches his team look good and win well and their first thought is "I know I'll call out my own fans" class that.

I actually thought u looked really good against hull and I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by the performance. Let's see how u fair when the pressure is on again.

So for now I bid u all a good season ahead.

{Ed025's Note - why are you on sabbatical chris?..a big loss to the site imo mate..

I wasn't eddy my mate, this is phrase coined by hood after I said I'll leave the page alone for a month and allow the boys on here to enjoy there time. But since then (not really on here) but in general people seem to be taking me way to seriously and these sites have always been fun for me and right now there not, just been a rough month I think, no doubt I'll be back around the pages soon :)

{Ed025's Note - i never had you down as someone who took banter to heart chris, if i had a penny for everytime i got abused on here..i would have £3.82 mate..come back soon fella..

Mate CTR i am just trying to rile you up that's all there is to it. The site is going to become quite a boar without Steve bambam and now the latest CTR.

Please do come back.

Oh far from it fella u know I'm always game for a laugh, I give it and can take it four folds. I love the sport of banter lol.

It's more issues around my family atm but I won't go into it here.

£3.52? Wow! U must be Jack the lad around Merseyside with that kind of cash!

{Ed025's Note - i had to sell all the hub caps i have amassed over the years to get that chris.. :)

05 May 2015 16:55:50
To be fair it would be pretty brutal to lose a 3rd game in a row to west brom, only to then see the way we played hull off the pitch. If I was you I'd be hiding for the rest of the season too

How Hazard gets PFA player of the year and not Sanchez is quite amazing to me.

05 May 2015 08:45:46
Sanchez has been terrific all season but I think Hazard just shaded it.

Justifiable.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - it was close for me dags, but for the first half of the season hazard had better players around him to provide the service..

05 May 2015 08:52:57
Agreed!

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2015 09:26:56
Tell me how can he shade it

Alexis has more goals than hazard
Alexis has more assists than hazard
Alexis doesn't take pen's, the only one he took he missed.
Alexis has more goals in CL than Hazard.

And to add its his first season in the PL. This is a farce

{Ed025's Note - being a major factor in them winning the league and league cup will have helped hood..

05 May 2015 09:41:01
Hood,

There is nothing between them, they have both been great, but as Ed said, winning trophies has tipped the scales in Hazard's favour.

As they say, "to the victor, goes the spoils".

Stats don't tell the whole story though. Goals and assists can be useful in assessing a player, but they don't tell the whole story. For example, you could look at chances created and see that Hazard is top of that list. And no offense meant, but IMO didn't really perform that well in the big games. Only thing I remember him doing against Chelsea is colliding with Courtois in that first game. And supporters of other teams (United fans being among others) told me that he didn't do much against them either. So that could contribute to it as well.

I agree, Hazard winning over Alexis is a joke.

{Ed025's Note - come on lemon..the guy has been quality mate, give a bit of credit where its due..

05 May 2015 21:59:53
I'm not saying he hasn't and I rate him highly, but I think Sanchez has been better.
