2015 has seen many more positives than negatives so far
Le Coq emergence
Carzola new found heroics
Ozil 3 goals in 3 games
Arsene buying two player's in January both for the positions most needed
Arsene has finally become tactically adaptable

Yesterday was a set back of course but the good so far out weights the bad by some distance since he turn of the year

Nice post gunger69

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks 442

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok i'm going to give a bit. If we win the champions league or the prem this season, or both, I will give wenger another season. Its all positive.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't thnk you can say fairer than that Steve mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice Steve, but how about if we finish third, win the fa cup, sign schneiderlin and a world class striker?

Agree0 Disagree0

Steve

That is funnier than any joke Dags has posted :)

Agree0 Disagree0

337

I actually might. . . . . . just might settle for that

Agree0 Disagree0

Im sorry at this stage I've all but given in, so it's up to the boss now. let's jist see if he can do it, i'm not compromising yet. I've already given myvright arm.

Agree0 Disagree0

By the way 337 you have no faith, shame on you.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just want to all in all not a disaster still only few points off 3rd. A good keeper keeps you in games . Makes saves when the other team look certain yo score. All keepers loose concentration and make mistakes fact

Must say jenko is developing well at the hammers, great contest between him and shaw, and I thought he just edged due to shaws daft red card. Feel good for the lad.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Love Jenks and really pleased for him this move has gone so well, he's proved many of his critics wrong.
Sadly I think we've seen the last of Jenks in an Arsenal shirt

Agree0 Disagree0

Gunner if wenger sells him, he wants shooting, he's young, willing and has ability, you can see that. Plus bigvsam will have given him some decent defensive coaching.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Steve but don't think well have that much chioce, in August Jenks lived and breathed all things Arsenal but I don't think a England call up is far away for him and he will find it difficult to come back as 2nd or even 3rd choice

Agree0 Disagree0

Trouble is Steve he is well down the pecking order here at Arsenal now .

I hope West Ham United take him on, he has done very well at West Ham

Agree0 Disagree0

Who would people prefer bellerin or jenks?

Hammers 1 up

Stays like that then it hasn't been a bad weekend all in all.

Could have been worse

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Or a good chance gone begging?

Agree0 Disagree0

Utd out of jail again, I have said it thier GK has been saving them.

Agree0 Disagree0

Draw ain't terrible mate, its pretty much in our own hands now and its still any 2 from 5.
Of those 5 you have to think a couple will have a really good run in and we need to do everything in every game to make sure its us who has the best of all.
Finishing this season on a high will do a lot towards keeping and recruiting the players we want

Agree0 Disagree0

The hood, United out of jail because the are pretty good at that, when thing are going wrong, you should have a get out of jail card. That how you win things, if you don't have one, well, you dont.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well what you are talking about and I am are totally different, utd ain't winning anything this year mate, if that was chelsea city or us I would have agreed with your point. When a person like Blind saves their blushes from the past 2 games, its worrying for utd from what I see, with the other teams picking form.

Agree0 Disagree0

They have lost two games less than us and have drawn two games more. Pinching points is a skill. If we'd pinched a point yesterday and a point more ( a draw when we got beat by an odd goal) we would be third, those pointscadd up, don't belittle it. Its an art.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hood I accept you don't like man u but they have lost once in the last 17 games. Your point is?

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry 4th, blame the brandy.

Ospina good shot stopper and comes and takes the ball well at set pieces, but is he a title winning keeper?
Personally I'd say a great No.2to have but we need a lot safer pair of hands to withstand the demands of a real title challenge

Believable0 Unbelievable0

G5TR1NG "Good shot stopper and takes the ball well at set pieces"

What else do you want him to do, dance well? Maybe drive like the stig? or possibly tell jokes? :-)

If he stays around Shezza and JW will show him how to smoke 40 a day.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know it sounds a bit picky 728 but I'd like it if he could maybe put the ball out of the danger area when he makes saves, looks like he has some brilliant saves in him but he may well have to make a lot of double and triple saves in each attack.
Also his hair? Is it really Arsenal first team standard?

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with G62, a great keeper wins your points. A good keeper just does his job. I don't see ospina as our no1 next season.

Still think Shezza has the potential to be great. Technically he's a brilliant keeper. But his lack of concentration and poor attitude cost him. If he doesn't fix up by the end of the season then a no1 should be top of the shopping list

337,

Although, those are important aspects of a keeper, I do not think that checks all the boxes.

A top keeper will:

1. Be a good and consistent shot stopper (no soft goals);

2. Be commanding when collecting the ball (from corners etc.);

3. Organize the Defence (and give them confidence that he will stop long range shots etc.);

4. Will be an accurate and quick distributor of the ball (start the attack);

5. Will have great rebound control (that's what we call it in hockey being Canadian, I am not sure if you use the same term), you need to control where the ball goes if you are not collecting it so that it either falls to one of your teammates, goes out of bounds, or ends up somewhere harmless;

6. Be good at reading when and be decisive in getting off your line to snuff out danger before it begins; and

7. Have a high football IQ (know when to speed up the game, slow it down, know how to marshal your defence, ensure that the team has the proper formation, read the runs of the strikers, midfielders, determine when to come off your line and when to stay put, set up a proper wall).

Now, to be fair there is too small a sample size to see if Ospina meets all these criteria and he has done fairly well.

BUT against Tottenham I was a bit concerned by his rebound control.

I guess we will see if he ticks the boxes in the future, but I am always surprised that there is not more of an appreciation for the art of goalkeeping by knowledgeable fans of which I count you as one 337 (and to be fair the criticism of Ospina is a bit premature he has only conceded two goals; one of which he is totally blameless for conceding).

I just want to defend Keepers, I think a good keeper is worth at least 10 points a season, and since Chelsea, Utd (and Tott) have three of the best keepers in the world, we have to make sure we do as well. Much like in Hockey having a world class keeper can be the difference in winning a title and ending up with nothing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Neither of them should be our number1. We never replaced seaman.

Agree0 Disagree0

G69, I think Arteta is coaching him on hair styling but because he is injured they can't risk a set back so it's on "firm hold" at the moment

Agree0 Disagree0

And jimmyr, does that mean that dancing, driving and telling jokes are not important?

Agree0 Disagree0

We have been going round in circles with shez, he may or may not end up being a top keeper, but not at arsenal. We give players too many chances to prove themselves and we are paying the price. Top teams can't afford to give aprenticeships or trials to see if they can make it. Usually if they don't hit the ground running, they dont. But we keep playing and playing your denilsons, bentner s, djurous, senderos, santos, almunias etc, when every man and his dog can see they are not good enough. But how much game time do these players get before they are outed, too much.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well I don't think Scz is that bad, its no fluke that he won the golden glove last season. As someone said he lacks concentration, this season he has forgotten the basics and is trying to emulate neuer, by being a sweeper. I would still play him, now that the def looks settled. Anyone for Gabreil against lecister.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hood the question is do uyou think he is a keeper who will win leagues and major trophies, if he lacks concentration and is prone to rushes of blood.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hood I think gabriel is having a crash course in English with paul merson. Well cockney, god help him. Then he might play.

Agree0 Disagree0

Should we play alexis against Lecister, I would certainly to get him back into the grove.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not 100% sure what his injury is? I think against Leicester Theo and Welbeck should get a full game that's their type of game they will both find their shooting boots.

Agree0 Disagree0

IMO we need to play our best fit X1 in every game from now on, 2 reasons one for team rhythm and two as yesterday showed if we go into games treating the opposition less than 100% seriously we will drop points.
We were before yesterday building up team belief and we need to regain and maintain that ASAP

Agree0 Disagree0

If he isn't fit then NO, there is no need to rush him back, rush him back and we could be without him for weeks. why bring him on away at Brighton

Agree0 Disagree0

The Hood

Maths is a weak point then?

:) x

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Really how? as I said it is 7 points difference between 2nd and 6th, which is 2 games (a little over I know that so don't waste your time coming back on that one). We have a run on games from now till end of march which are all winnable. Anything else Moaner?

Agree0 Disagree0

No BG, it seems that there is a new ruling for the rest of the season that arsenal should get 3.5 points for a win, I know because I petitioned for it :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Hood, he (or she) did put a smiley face and a kiss, give him (or her) a break, I don't get those he (or she) must like you. :-)

After yesterdays result Ed025 has done bunk to Spain, our indifferent season has finally taken its toll on him and it looks like he just couldn't take what was coming

Get well soon Ed we're sorry :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - all joking aside, look out for his new Southern Comfort beach stroll coming to a TV screen near you soon......}

I'm sure it will be shot on the rocks this year 001 to remind Ed025 of his beloved Everton

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - ouch, he would be crying if he was reading this! Poor fella just isn't the same jovial guy we used to know and tolerate thanks to Bobby Martinez's ineptitude.}

Its been a very tough season for poor old 025, not only has he had to watch Evertons serious decline he's also had to put up with me/us moaning throughout the first half of the season.
If ever a bloke deserved a break its him :-)

I know he will come back through as there's only so long he can go without his 15 kebab a day fix

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I just feel sorry for him having to put up with Dags' jokes, after that everything must seem hilarious by comparison!}

Good point Ed, I think Dags jokes may have been the final straw for him as the cold weather Evertons season and the run up to the uk elections are call pretty depressing BUT THOSE Jokes?
I'm just greatfull for the ones he spares us by editing out, the mans a hero for that alone I my book

Agree0 Disagree0

Dags has been telling jokes? When? I used the search function but could not find anything fitting that description. :-)

Some people are so rude, I was walking along this morning and my hat blew off, this fella was walking his dog nearby and the hat blew towards them. The dog grabbed my hat and started chewing it, the bloke waited a bit then handed me the hat back.

I said "mate, your dogs ruined my hat!", he replied "so what" so I said "mate I don't like your attitude!" he replied " it's not my attitude, it's your at-e-chewed"
