Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

For this season to be realistic title contenders we need to sign three players, one of which is a goalkeeper, obviously we have Cech and that is a truly great signing. However we still beer a CDM and a striker, you may all say what about Coquelin's form, and yes he has been excellent recently. But, what if he gets an injury on our game after the transfer window closes, go back to Flamini and Arteta? Take Chelsea for example, even though many of you may disagree they're squad and signings recently have been very good. They needed a striker, they got Costa, they needed a CM and they went out and signed Fabregas. Not to mention Matic and recalling Courtouis. If we sign say Schneiderlin for example that's two very good CDM's, Chelsea have Ramires and Matic. You may not like being compared to Chelsea but at the moment they are the top dogs and we need to aim to match or better them this season.

Getting onto the striker issue, Giroud is a player who can get 10-15 goals a season, but sometimes we need someone alternative to play someone can make those runs in behind because Sanchez can't do it all himself. And yes, Theo player very well against West Brom and Aston Villa, but can he do it against Man City, Chelsea? I know he has had the injury and we haven't seen whether he can do it now, we shouldn't wait to find out. A perfect striker signing for me would be Benzema, a more realistic signing would be Lacazette, who does look like a player. My point is if we can sign another striker or a CDM and we are financially backed to do sign Scheniderlin or Lacazette, why shouldn't we? They would turn our team into real title contenders.

Thanks for reading.

10-15 goals per season? Pardon?

Giroud only capable of 10-15?? He's proved that he's capable of scoring 20-30 if he stays fit. Also don't understand people saying we're back to flamini/arteta if coquelin gets injured. For me wilsheres well capable of playing the holding role he does for England against smaller teams. Also people are forgetting about chambers who wenger himself has said he sees a long term future in as a midfielder. So that's 1 quality and 2 other decent holding midfield options before We're down to flamini-arteta.

Spot on.
Keeper: Cech - Great signing
DM: Schneiderlin or Vidal
S: I would try & sign Di Maria to play wide and use Theo more often as a striker. He looked awesome at the end of the season when played in this role.

I would sell/release: Ospina (a great 2nd choice keeper, who I feel sorry for as he performed well for us, but Szczesny has the advantage of being taller, younger & 'homegrown'). Flamini. Arteta. Campbell. Sanogo (on loan, to see if he improves as he matures, in a similar fashion to Coquelin).

Totally agree. Schneiderlin and Benzema and we will be very good.

I think one more signing only, a stop striker.

Also, Notice that Sanogo, Campbell, and Wellington all left out of the tour. Some other names also left out, but these are due to either injury or holiday.

So what striker will we sign?

We always get linked with Benzema but I think there is no chance we will sign him. Real only have one recognised cf and even if they do sell him it won't be for 40m. They got 60m for di maria and I assume they will look for that for benzema.

Dream signing for me will be Abueyemang. Pace, power, skill and goals. Upgrade to Giroud and walcott and can play him alongside Giroud.

Our little midfielders play better with Giroud in the team. So a big CF who can hold up the play and get them into the game. So ill throw Benteke into the mix too.

If we wanted a "cheaper" alternative, I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Javier Hernandez. I can imagine many will disagree. Premier League experience and a great eye for goal. That's without mentioning he's incredibly fast and his positioning is great too.

Would he get 20+ goals in a season? Depends on whether or not he would be playing his traditional impact substitute role, or whether he'd be starting. He isn't a player who is famed for scoring lots at his time at United or Madrid either, but I really don't think he has had the opportunity to flourish - he has always been back up to back up...

Arsenal have been linked with Roma defender Kostas Manolas. The defender arrived at Roma at the start of last season for 11m pound move. Arsenal will face stiff competition from rivals Spurs who are also reportedly interested in signing the 24 year-old this summer.

I find us being linked with a CB difficult to comprehend as we have Mertesacker, Koscielny & Gabriel, with Chambers as the fourth option. Unless one of them is leaving, which I very much doubt, we do not need a CB.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 21:32:27
i also doubt we will get a CB, but if ones availabe who would improve us i hope we take the opportunity, similar to buying cech, we had enough keepers, but we are better with cech. if kos picks up another major injury, that leaves us a largly untested gabriel and potential liability's with mert because of his lack of pace and fear of being hit in the face and chambers because of his youth. i would quite like another cb with chambers going out on loan or mert being sold, but probs not going to happen

Hi fellas. I am not dead yet. I am on every day. Don't get involved much in the rumour mill because I know absolutely nothing about what's going on... ever since my transfer window psychic armadillo died :)

Petr Cech... I am happy we got him in. Experienced and very good keeper during his peak. I hope he doesn't or hasn't started to fade. I liked Ospina, young good keepr who could have been with us for a long time. But for the good of the team, we should always look to upgrade anyone

Team shaping up nicely. Hoping we manage to get a whopper of a striker. Arsenal play beautiful football. In my opinion, we are second only to Barcelona spectacle wise. Ever since Henry left (and RVP) when he was fit, I have been longing for a magician of a striker. A guy who can pull the rabbit out of the hat. A magician of sorts. Someone who can win us a match from nothing. People might say we have Sanchez already doing that, and I agree. But wouldn't it be nice having two blokes dazzling the opposition with pace, skill and control? Sanchez is superman, but having two explosives match-winners in attack will make us more than a handful.

The last piece of the puzzle for me is a striker of pedigree. A clinical forward with pace, skill and shot accuracy. A bolke who will make Man U think twice about playing a high line against us. A grim reaper, a mad hatter who will make the stomachs of opposition defenders rumble with fear. That one man for me is Karim Benzema. He does everything that Giroud does, but is just much much much better. He can run, he can shoot, he can pass, he can dribble and he can hold the opposition defenders off. Will Madrid sell him to us? Highly unlikely I think. Playing second fiddle to Ronaldo is never easy, but despite this, he always shows his class. Please Karim, won't you join us :(

Hi ed's firstly it's been a while ( I made the mistake of joining twitter and falling for all of the 'ITK's' So, I'm glad to be back.

Benzema rumours really seem to be hotting up (more than usual considering we're linked with him every season.) There seems to be some truth to it this time round. Looks like an approach has been made, can you confirm? Also do we have any interest of a bundesliga player? This was announced by one of the reliable ITK's. Can you confirm this as well?

Last time I posted on this website we were in the banter era so here's to two FA cups, a community shield and signing world class players. Let's hope for more next season

The bundesliga player could be Howedes as he has 'apparently' confirmed Arsenal interest. Another name that has been batted about on this site is Aubameyang, but I bet whatever you read was referring to Gotze as the rumours linking him with Arsenal are in full force today.

Hey eds,

First time poster here. Been reading about this agent Muzzi Ozcan and his comments about Arsenal being close to making the signing of the season. Any weight behind this and any idea of who he might be referring to? I hear lots of names bandied about like Gotze, Higuain and Benzema so just wondering if you had anything to add to this or if it should just be dismissed entirely.

Thanks for your work!!

hi ed002 i asked last week and you said you might have time in a week. don't worry about posting this if you still dont, but would it be possible to see who we are actively trying to sell and any unwanted interest in players we wouldn't want to lose. any solid interest from barca in ramsey, real in kos or atletico in santi etc. thanks if you can help

Lacazette, Benzema or Higuain
Your choice and why?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Jul 2015 13:33:47
1st - Benzema - proven at top level, consistent, winning mentality, fights for his place in the team, his link up with Ozil

2nd - Lacazette - has all the attributes to be a top top forward, versatile, bang in form, decent price, great age.

3rd - Higuain - Top striker with great goal ratio, however massively over priced at £67 million, i don't think he is willing to fight for his place or the team as he seems to jump ship and throw toys out ( this my not be true but from what i read) and plus he rejected us already... i don't believe in cutting my nose of in spite, but if there are other options i would go with them.

None of the above , I'm going for Austin. Dags' repetitive posts about him have been a deciding factor in my choice. Dags is a master hypnotist! You have all been warned!

You mean not winning the league but winning the FA Cup? See the last two seasons... Seriously, are you confused about the years or is that just a cheap dig aimed at gooners after two years of securing a trophy each season?

09 Jul 2015 15:41:46
Erm, do you mean 2003/4 season? I don't know what you are referring to if not (unless you are on about beating Chelsea or the 7-0 victory over Everton - sorry ed025).

We are once again being linked with Higuain. Why am I not convinced by him, despite his scoring record?
The same goes for Benzema.
Please explain, as it's only a gut feeling as they both hugely successful players.

It baffles me that we aren't making a move for Lacazette. He has everything it needs to become a 'great'. Wouldn't get game time at Chelsea and I can't see him moving to Roma. That leaves PSG who could obviously outbid and outwage us, especially as they want a high profile, French striker. Regardless, AW should really push the boat out. Lacazette is the missing piece of the puzzle. Who knows, maybe he could be the next, albiet nobody ever will be, Henry.

We have shown interest but Lyon probably want to keep him and aren't going to let go of him easy so it's not as simple as just wanting him (although, according to recent reports, he is trying to force through a move). Also, according to Ed, our number 1 target is someone else - atleast it was a couple of weeks ago. Personally, I would love to have him and wouldn't mind paying a lot for his services.

Ed's Mentioned the other day that he has been offered to 3 clubs to see if they are interested, Psg, Chealsea ans Roma I believe... would indicate that we have not made a firm enquiry.
Shame as like you TPG i really would pay the money for him, more so than Hig.. good player but i feel he already went another route and could see him not fighting for the cause.
