Just wondering what ed025 thought of Giroud? 😂

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im a fan saint, hard working player with good control and a great team player...is he good enough to make the difference between arsenal winning the league and finishing runners up?...no mate, some will not agree but thats my honest opinion..

09 May 2015 21:54:55
I'm a massive Giroud fan Ed but I and we have to be open to the idea that no matter how much we like some players or how hard they work and committed they've been they may not be up to taking us that last step up to a premier league title.
We need to look at the facts beyond our feelings if were ever to be the best again, if Mata had been our player of the year twice on the trot and new manager had sold him in 6 months we'd have gone nuts but in the end it was the right thing to do to be the best team in the country be it disloyal or not.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats right imo G62, in the end it may seem cruel but its all about winning mate...souness once said "show me a good loser...and ill show you a loser" never a truer word said..

09 May 2015 21:55:43
Have to agree Ed.

Still think Olly needs a bit of help up front.

Leading the line for a whole season is incredibly difficult.

He needs somebody who can come off the bench to chip in a few goals, ala Chiquarito at Manchester United a few years ago.

Charlie Austin fits that bill.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i dont think he does dags hes the cheap option mate, pay the dosh and buy a worldie i say..

09 May 2015 22:35:07
Its a toughie Ed.

I think Olly has won a lot of people over this season, he has more followers than non followers amongst the Arsenal faithful.

Probably his biggest supporter is Arsene, who, I think, will be reluctant to buy a 'Worldie' to the detriment of Giroud's progress.

I agree with you in principal, but we have scored 100 goals this season, 5 less than Champions Chelsea, not sure if goals are our problem.

I, of course, type with red tinted glasses, but player for player, I just can't see Chelsea are that much better than us.

But, of course, the table doesn't lie and they are worthy Champions who won the league with points, and indeed games, to spare.

Like I posted the other day, did they win the league because they are better than everybody else or because Mourinho is better than every other manager in the league?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - they won because they were the best team over the course of the season dags, jose had them set up strong from the get go whereas arsene only realised his shortcomomings half way through,so in that respect you may be right mate..

09 May 2015 22:56:24
Sorry Dags Charlie Austen has done brilliant this season but he's just not the required standard to win the big prize's but he's a head of Theo which must say something?
Theo's below Charlie but ahead of Stewart Downing although potentially better than both but at 26 when is that potential ever going to be realised?

Agree0 Disagree0

09 May 2015 23:15:56
Agree Ed.

G62,we have, or at least, Arsene has, a dilemma.

Replace Giroud, who has been very good this season, despite a 3 month lay off, with a worldie (I can't think of many available), or stick with Giroud, but buy a striker to help him.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 May 2015 23:41:35
Dags I think Giroud is brilliant for us and we are better with than without him at present but having listend to people's views and looked at the uncomfortable evidence maybe we do need a very top goal scorer, sadly olly is not quite that.
If we were going to be honest and let our heads totally overall our hearts on Olly we have to be honest on others too including Walcott

Agree0 Disagree0

09 May 2015 23:51:28
It is a dilemma G62.

I still think Olly and Charlie will be a perfect combo.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 May 2015 21:07:55
someone probably reads malagas posts and think there must be some truth in it, as he only puts a line out, without mentioning sauces.

It started with reus to Arsenal

then pedro to arsenal

and now ozil in a swap deal for bale?

are these transfers that have been touted on fifa15 cause that's the only reasoning i can find.

{Ed025's Note - im with you lakes..

Hi eds, you stated that one of arsenals targets this summer are fekir as 1st choice and Isco as second choice, I was just wondering as both are attacking mids, are they being looked at as a replacement? If so any idea who for? Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is best to try not to complicate matters.}

09 May 2015 17:01:07
If dreams come true our signings this summer would be...

Hugo Lloris - I know it's highly unlikely but him with our current defence just wow!

Spyder - Very possible and to be honest i believe that would complete our midfield.

Gareth Bale - World class potentially and how nice it would be to have an attacking threat on the right as direct as we now have on the left.

I don't get people's problem with Giroud, in my opinion he's a brilliant striker so no meed for another.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - hes not a "brilliant" striker JPSA, a good one granted but misses too many chances for me mate..but thats just my opinion..

09 May 2015 17:22:57
Ok maybe brilliant is a bit strong ed25 but it would take a truly world class player to displace him, are we really going to spend that kind of money?
Even the Lloris and Bale types are very unrealistic.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its the hardest job in football JPSA, putting the ball in the net is as they say the ultimate goal, if suarez had signed for arsenal then i know they would have won the league this year mate, these draws and slim defeats have cost arsenal dear this season, and i know you might not agree but if a worldie had them chances we are looking at another 12-14 points imo..

09 May 2015 18:26:04
I agree ed, he's been in fantastic form this year, but still missed some important chances, Monaco games sticks out and when he's not on point our next move is eelbeck... Even if we don't get an improved striker he definately needs better cover and competition, for when he's having an off day or heaven forbid a long lay off like early in the season, when we really missed him

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats right eden mate..

10 May 2015 00:57:17
Think it's a little harsh to imply we lost the league because Giroud missed a few chances.
I would say it has far more to do with our shabby defence during the time we had Kos and Debuchy out, we lost a lot of points and ground during that time.
That added to the fact Giroud was out for three months speaks for itself in my opinion.
Now i don't disagree I'd love a Suerez but it would have to be someone of that calibre before I'd say blow all that cash on a replacement.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 May 2015 12:59:29
Hey JPSA, you say are we going to spend that kind of money on a striker to replace Olly but in the original post you say "Gareth Bale - World class potentially and how nice it would be to have an attacking threat on the right as direct as we now have on the left."

Just what kind of dosh would you expect Bale to cost? Manure are being touted as spending £100m to bring him back to the PL so you think Arsene would pay in that ball park. No way.

Theo is almost certainly staying at Arsenal.

Terrific news.

A fully fit Theo is a major asset to our squad.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

09 May 2015 09:29:55
Squad depth is so important. We would be crazy to sell him

Agree0 Disagree0

09 May 2015 12:02:28
i don't know how to feel about walcott, on his day he is something close to world class, but I worry that his day has been and gone. Chamberlain is a better footballer, with time on his side.i guess keaping both of them is the sensible thing to do.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 May 2015 12:07:48
Apparently Arsene is very happy for him to run down his contract if necessary and nothing like desperate for him to either sign or go, I'm with him 100% if he is to be allowed to stay he needs to earn a new contact if not hey ho cheerio

Agree1 Disagree0

09 May 2015 12:57:07
He needs to start showing a willingness to make runs back and help out defensively, no longer just stand about waiting for attacking opportunities which is what Welbeck and Chamberlain do far better than Walcott.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 May 2015 13:59:17
I can't help feel that he offers nothing better in the RM role than we already get from either the Ox, Ramsey, Wellbeck and possibly even Wilshire and Gnarby. I don't really want him to go I suppose, but then again if we used the cash to upgrade on a top top CF then I would probably be happy......

Agree0 Disagree0

09 May 2015 15:57:47
If Theo was at another premier league club how desperate would we be for Arsene to sign him?
If Sanchez Ozil Ramsey Ox Kos Belerin wrer all at say West ham wed be urging Arsene to sign them for us but Theo? Would we really be that fussed!
He needs to do a lot more than he has on a regular basis to be that important to our future IMO.

Hi Ed, do we want Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton and Jackson Martinez from Porto?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - You need to read the posts or use the search engine - it is getting tedious being asked the same thing over and over.}

Hi ed,

Noticed on City page that it was stated that, "Arsenal have made an enquiry regarding Isco's availability but their first choice is someone else"

Any ideas or clues who the first choice might be?

Cheers

09 May 2015 08:22:32
Isco has been enquired about but is not the first choice.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Thank you for such a fine clarification.}

09 May 2015 11:45:02
What an idiot I am haha, must of been half asleep still!

Here you go ed, hopefully this redeems myself from that stupid post haha
{Ed002's Note - Fekir would be first choice and is open to the move - but Lyon are very difficult to deal with. I would suggest that if Arsenal were then going to need to look elsewhere, then Isco would join Calhanoglu as viable option}
