Whilst it would be easy to offer an overreaction and declare all manner of doom upon our club after that, look at it like this. We gave everything up until the fourth goal. For 10 minutes we were dancing through the City defence, culminating in bringing it back to 3-2. We had them. Then Vermaelen reminds us all why he is not Koscielny and whatever energy we had left after this week disappeared. I am practically writing everything that happened after that goal from my memory.

Let us just hope it is not long term for The Boss. He has been the master of predictive defending this season and would've not only predicted the cross to Silva but cut it out with ease. Vermaelen does not have this (interesting to note that Silva was on his side of the pitch, yet it was still Mertesacker who was closest to the attacker whilst Vermaelen remained utterly stationary).

Nine days off now and nine days we need off. Psychologically, beating Chelsea is an absolute and I think we will do it in a cauldron of noise a week on Monday night. But frankly, we are still in a title race if we win and still in a title race if we lose.

Keep the chins up, Gooners.

I am sure I am not the only one looking at our three games this week and thinking 7 points minimum would've been lovely. Perhaps with Everton as the last of them it is still the case, but as we are at home I was looking more at today for the case of two points dropped.

A remarkable result then. Of course, whereas Cardiff will get all the plaudits for beating Man City and drawing with Man Utd, we will get no more than a, "Well, it is Cardiff, so that should be expected.". Make no mistake though, this is a gorgeous, emphatic result.

That 2-0 away to Bayern has made this squad of players. At some point we will be considered serious contenders for this league. Even amongst some Gooners we are waiting for a reversion to perceived type. But with each passing game we are looking more the part.

Two home games then to come before the big two away. How I wish that Napoli game afforded an opportunity to rest almost all. A more annoying placement of it in that schedule it could not be.
