Could the struggle to bring new faces be down to the current squads wages? For example if we brought in Fellani he would be on around 100k a week, twice what Whilshere is on and a lot more than most of the team, possibly causing unrest.
I think Wenger will only go for a young player who may command a large transfer fee but their wages will be comparisable to the rest of the squad.
That is unless he can bring in a truly world class player who deserves the big bucks, but after yesterday I'm not sure if we'd be able to attract anyone of that standing.
Hopefully some of the important players contracts will be improved with our extra revenue, allowing us to pay over the odds to get players in.
