As a loyal fan for over 20 years, only really knowing the Wenger reign (in my adult life) this is by far and away the lowest and most disappointed by our transfer dealings. Gazidis came out and said we could challenge financially yet we have only one signing in Sanogo, another on the way in Flamini. and both were free. Many 'rumours' of big name signings but no one has signed and we have 5 days left of the window. Players like Sakho, Alderweireld, Cabaye, Gourcuff, Begovic, Lamela (at time of writing) and Eriksen are all available, all within budget, and would all improve our squad. However, we have done nothing. We have sat back (by we I mean Wenger and Gazidis) and watched injuries mount and the squad deplete and done nothing.
I would love it if Wenger surprised me and snapped up Sakho, Cabaye and looked for a striker we could actually get. I would live it if we finished 4th. I would love it if we won something.
However, I'm worried that this season is the season we finish outside the top 4. for me, that would be a good thing as then, the status quo will change and we might just strengthen instead of weaken our squad.
1.) They may all be available but AW does not seem interested for whatever reason.
Lamela I can skip if we make a decent str signing. Gourcuff had his day and I believe it has passed, he is not so great now. Begovich, yeah why not but I still would not drop sir Szescney (Could bring the best from both). Sakho I rate so enough said. Cabaye, well I rate him think he is great but think we should have got better a lot sooner. Eriksen think would be great. Alderweirald only seen 2 times so to early to comment.
