3.) Personally I can't see this happening, I thought the fee was believed to be around £7mil from the rumours I have seen on this.

Either way in a few years this kid is going to be big, a big talented defender. usually when you have to pay fees like that for ages like that then there is a lot of promise to work with. I think it would be a coo if we could get him. if i'm right has he not been called up to the full internationals, just for the experience, or has he made his debut?
5.) Not everyone reads (or wants to read) The Sun. So I'm happy for Arsenal transfer gossip reported there, or anywhere else, to be posted on here. I wouldn't have known about this rumour otherwise. DS.

According to croatian media, Arsenal were in for CB Tin Jevaj, 17, but were too late as he looks to sign for AS Roma.
This is a big miss if true, I've watched this kid play live, and he will be very successful. The composure, confidence, and leadership at his young age is remarkable.
He's compared to Paolo Maldini

I heard that Laudrop (sp?) might be leaving swansea because of disagreements with the board. Could this mean that he is mad about losing some of his top players.
Ashley Williams and Michu? {Ed052's Note - if he leaves, it'll be about a disagreement over budgets and falling out with the chairman. I doubt Michu will move, and for thay matter Williams, who would stump up?}

I`ve heard Laudrup`s motive, apart from the fact his agent who he has been with for the last 20 years has been ostrasized by Swansea, is to move to PSV Eindhoven this summer - smaller budget but gauranteed European/Champions League football every year and a nice stepping stone to Real Madrid where he`ll end up in a year or 2.

I know this is very unrealistic, but hear me out. With the news that Mourinho wants to sell Mata to bring in Luka Modric, we should look into signing. Arsenal are know to be intrested.
The midfield could look like this.
Cazorla-Mata-Walcott
Arteta-Wilshere
Mata and Cazorla are interchangable
1.) I don't think Chelsea will sell to Mata to Arsenal. In fact I think he won't be sold this summer.
2.) That's very attacking minded and I don't see much defensive cover.
Arteta has struggled with runners through the centre- he's picked up countless yellows due to lack of pace and a lack of a defensive midfielder with good situational awareness.
If we're playing a three of Cazorla - Mata - Walcott then we'd need to get someone like Fellaini who can sit in front of our back 4.
Jack - Fellaini
with an attacking three in front and a clinical striker, now that's one hell of a team

4.) Maybe Mata doesn't want to join Arsenal
5.) Mata wanted to join Arsenal a few years ago, the problem will be convincing Chelsea to sell to another Prem team.
If he goes I can see him in Spain, pushing for that starting position in the national team for the world cup

1.) Would be good but I still think there is better than Williams around for that kind of cash. no offence to him meant but that's how I feel. real are holding out for 30mil for higuain, I think that with the chances we create he would easily bang in 30 goals a season so we should splurge a bit on him. he is the kind of top striker that would have us challenging again, he has a great goal to game ratio.

3.) I think with this team and those additions we could realistically challenge for the title. The only concern I have is with Williams, i'd rather get a young, talented CB to be fourth choice, rather than someone who has to be played now. in all honesty I think we could consider playing Miquel in place of Djourou. Soldado would be a fantastic boost for the squad, and although I haven't seen much of Kondogbia, and would probably prefer Gonalons, apparently he is a brilliant player

4.) Honestly, I wouldn't. I think with those signings we'd be no closer really to winning the epl. We need real investment if we're going to really challenge.

5.) I seriously do not understand how people can say that we cannot challenge for anything with the players we have and with new additions. I think we have very good players and a good team and if we play the way we played the last 10 PL games we will have a chance. I also agree to the point that if we need to challenge on different fronts we will need these additions. But how do we define a title winning squad I do not understand, I think it all depends on how we play as a team. Only the terrible start at the start affected us last season and I am sure it will not be the case this season.
Look at united's squad on paper, I think we have a team that matches player to player except for the strikers where they may have a slight edge and everyone very well knows why!
If we have some good additions for the depth, need not be world class then as I have said earlier also, it will be between Chelsea and us for the title next season.

6.) The reason we turned things around at the end of the season is because we were focused on one competition only! Being in three cup competitions and the league is too much for our squad. It's not just 3 or 4 players we need. When we had the invincibles most the players on the bench could get in our current first team! Wake up. People said the same crap before this season started. And what happened, fighting for fourth place again! And we only achieved that by the skin of our teeth. We need major investment. Anyone that can't see that us deluded and will pipe up with the same guff at the end of next season when we play well for the last 10 games because we've been knocked out of every other competition!
We need a good keeper. No matter what anyone says Merts isn't brilliant. He's a good CB but shouldn't be first choice. We need a strong midfielder as currently they're all small and light weight, we need another winger as far as I'm concerned, or an attacking midfielder and use cazorla on the wing where he played for Malaga, and we need a top quality striker. Oh and another right back when Sagna goes. Jenks can't do it all by himself. We're not going to sign that many players, and it's not a great idea to sign that many at once anyway. Fact is we have to start rebuilding, and there is no way we'll win the league next season. We need to invest in players, then do the same next year, and hopefully then we'll start challenging again. Most of you don't agree, but that's because most of you are looking through your official arsenal glasses.
