Hello all,

News has emerged that Torres is being made available by Chelski, IMO we should go for him, obviously he's not the player he was but he is world class and he seems like our only option. Thanks

Harkstead gooner

1.) He can't be both not the player he was and world class?

2.) Can speaking stop calling above average players world class. World class is RVP, Ronaldo, Messi etc. I wouldn't even call Rooney world class. For the record I think our team has 0 world class players.

Spuds are claiming they've signed 6 world class players this transfer window. No they haven't - they've signed 6 UEFA cup players.

{Ed022's Note - Santi Cazorla would walk into Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich etc... Therefore, I deem him World Class...}

3.) Cazorla wouldn't walk anywhere near Real Madrid, damn he hardly walks into Spain.

World class is used too loosely now a days.

4.) I admit Santi is close but we wouldn't walk into any of those teams. He would certainly get games for them. World class should mean a certain starter for pretty much any team (including international teams, possibly apart from Spain if they are a midfielder).

World class for me: Messi, Ronaldo, Xavi, Iniesta, Pique, Ramos, Thiago Silva, Lahm, Cesc, RVP, Alonso, Alba, Schweinsteger, Neuer, Falcao, Vidic, Pirlo, Alves, plus a few more.

5.) @sloth No bale? LMAO. You're right, he isn't.

"World class for me: Messi, Ronaldo, Xavi, Iniesta, Pique, Ramos, Thiago Silva, Lahm, Cesc, RVP, Alonso, Alba, Schweinsteger, Neuer, Falcao, Vidic, Pirlo, Alves, plus a few more."

If world class includes all these and more, they would by definition not be 'certain starters' in any team would they.

7.) Haven't you heard the good news? We don't need torres we've got NB52!

8.) Urban Coeur - Duh! any real team. There can be more than 11 world class players. All of those players would be pretty much certain starters for any team bar Barca and Spain. that's my point.

Another potential definition (which would probably produce the same result) would be any player that would get into the either the world XXII (i.e best 22 players with 2 LBs, 2RBs, 4CBs, 2 GKs etc. )

9.) I think you missed the point and then reiterate the same thing. To suggest that 'world class' only applies to the worlds best 22 or even 30 players is absurd.

10.) I really don't think suggesting that only the worlds best 20-30 players can be classed as world class is absurd. Its far more absurd to suggest Torres is a world class player.

At the same time I'm not going to argue with anyone if they think Bale, Rooney, Cazorla, David Silva, Mata are world class. I'd say they are probably top 30 in the world so borderline.

11.) If rvp is world class then what happens in 5 years time if there is 50 players playing at a better level than he is now. surely then there would be 50 world class players. limiting it is short sighted. it depends on what standard there is at any giving time to judge how many world class players there is.

12.) I'm not saying there is a hard limit and yes standards do change slowly, but its hardly short sighted to say that to be considered one of the top players in the world (i.e world class) you have to be in the top 20-30 players. Top 50 odd is fine too. But please people need to stop saying someone is world class when they wouldn't make a top 100. Torres for example is probably not even in the top 20 strikers.

If my very rough guide for how I judge someone being world class is so crazy - please someone suggest better. Perhaps they play somewhere in the world,
? they know where the world is? They can spell "world class"? (that might catch some players out)

Ed, could liverpool's bid for Diego Costa suggest that Suarez is on his way out?

Thanks : ) {Ed029's Note - I would not concern yourself with it.}

Harkstead Gooner

1.) Hi there 0029, of course we are concerning ourselves with it.

This is an Arsenal Rumours site and Suarez is the biggest rumour out there in our world at the moment.

If you could please illuminate us, even if it is bad news (or good for LFC) that would be great.

I do know that Suarez's agents are hawking him out to everyone at the moment. {Ed029's Note - Ed02 has suggested that Suarez's representatives are continuing to look for other clubs and has spoken in the past week with at least one other English club amongst other. He has said today that Suarez would be open to a move to Arsenal but he does not think Arsenal would be his preferred choice. So Costa is nothing to do with Suarez.}

So the club who promised to have a huge summer signing big players left right and centre (us) have been utterly eclipsed by the club who were promised a summer of losing their best player (spurs) who have been signing players left right and centre. Fellow gooners this is awful.

Hey Ed, just a question, do you think arsenal will appeal Koscielney's red card because the first foul was questionable and the second one, he didn't even make contact.?

Thanks {Ed027's Note - cant it was two yellows

possible striking additions:

Javier Hernandez- I know it's unlikely but everyone has a price right?
Wayne Rooney- give it a shot
Michu
Jackson Martinez
Falcao- I know this is unrealistic but it seems he has become available and what a way to silence your critics.
Leandro Damiao- never did make it to spurs

thanks

Hey guys- yeah rubbish start, was at the game, ref was disgustingly bad. But moving away from all the doom and gloom, I thought of some possible alternatives to Suarez:

Javier Hernandez
Alexis Sanchez
Troy Deeney (suprise package?)
Michu
Wayne Rooney

cheers

Harkstead gooner

1.) Well apart from Rooney will not be coming near us, there is no chance of Hernandez, and Michu is yet another 'not a hope' of joining us, I agree with you. We could indeed get an untried, inexperienced, young striker like Deeney, and yes he may just come good. But you wouldn't bet your next match let alone the season on it. The championship is simply not the EPL.
