Am I the only one that hates those people who apparently don't understand player development and say things along the lines of.

"Well, Ramsey has shown that all those people that didn't like him know nothing"

or

"Wenger has proven again that all those boo boys were wrong again"

No.
Ramsey putting in three class performances does not prove all those fans who questioned his inclusion wrong.
He has made 106 premier league appearances. Scoring 7 goals. He has made maybe 5 appearances where I thought, yeah, that performance was worthy of The Arsenal.
He was poor for a good 3-4 years. Oh he got injured? Well sorry for your troubles, but if you aren't good enough, you shouldn't be playing. Don't kid yourself, Ramsey was not good enough. So all those people that said that, were correct, we have not been proved wrong, because the argument wasn't that Ramsey would never be good enough, it was that he wasn't good enough.
Now however, he has looked brilliant this season, he has got over his injuries and looks to be an integral part of our team. Its about time after 5 years of poor performances. Good luck to him, hope he takes us to some glory.

HassanAFC

1.) Dear Hassan,
Ramsey is 22 now, and you want a wonderful 3-4 years from a guy who is just 21 a year before, and a guy whose legs were broken. that's an awesome wish. I would have liked if you have wished the same for Van Persie, but I'm sure you didn't. :)

2.) Thanks for that. You're still wrong though!

He's 22 and when he was played on the wing had some bad games, but you'd expect that when a player is played out of position, no? When ever he's played in the middle he's been pretty solid and only now are the "FIFA fans" at the emirates seeing that. Next you'll say Jacks game to goal ratio means he's not good enough either.

Seriously sick of these type of "supporters"

3.) First off, kind of unfair to say he had 5 years of poor performances seeing as he's only 22. Also, do you really think that if he hadn't been given playing time and time to get his legs under him again that he would be at the level he is now? I also thought he was pretty bad for parts of the last two seasons, but regardless of what people think of Wenger's transfer activity, there's no doubt that the faith he puts in his players is a huge part of what makes our club successful.

4.) Last year I thought he was shockin start of the season, decision makin wise and killin' off too many counter attacks by lovin the ball too much. towards the end he got a bit more consistent, and this year he's started not too shabby. let's leave it that. HIiiiiiiiiiiiiiooooOOOOOOOOOOO

5.) Ha ha ha! Seriously, do you have any idea what it means to develop a young player? It takes a bit of time. Maybe a bit extra if they have had a double leg break. So, to say Wenger was wrong for playing him earlier in his career is nonsense - if it wasn't for that he wouldn't be playing so well now. Think of it as an investment.

{Ed022's Note - The assumption you made Jensen was that fickle fans have the ability to THINK...}

6.) Not fickle to say that previously Ramsey was not good enough.
He was young and needed game time after a serious injury? Seems like that's the perfect time to loan out a player.
Sorry, but I'm not wrong by saying a player who was not good enough should have been playing.
You say, well he was 19 so you can't expect him to be brilliant. You're right, I didn't expect him to be brilliant. Why is why he should not have made 100 appearances when he was not good enough.
Player development takes time? No really? Obviously.
But that time, should not have been all in Arsenal career appearances (Yes I know he was loaned at the beginning of his career)
Yes it was an investment, yes he has come through brilliantly, but when other young players come through brilliantly, they didn't go through 100 appearances of hindering their team (He's not the only one)
Look at Jack, he was decent, went to Bolton, got experience at that level and came back great.
Same goes for Lukaku.
My complaint isn't to Ramsey and I support all Arsenal players, but his current performances don't warrant his place in our team for when he was not good enough. For that, my complaint is to Wenger. Ramsey could have reached this level without 100 mediocre performances for our club.

Wouldn't it be great if we signed;

Casillas
Alonso
Di Maria

from Real Madrid, funding their signing of Bale, then complimented those signings with Sakho and Martinez? Heaven

HassanAFC

1.) Doesn't alonso have a lengthy injury?

So our game just ended. Not the result I expected, a good result for us that will see us through, no waiting on the panel to ban Fener. That said, Fener beat themselves today but maybe that is what we needed to kick start our season.
Hopefully this will be followed up by some quality signings, if we can take six points from Fulham and Tottenham then our season looks OK.
Thats wishful thinking though, I didn't see Arsene's interview, maybe I'll find it later but I'm sure it was something along the lines of, "I told you this team could compete"
Hopefully though, he will make the signings we need, Shez had a good game, he's very hot and cold and I think we still need a keeper.
Get us Begovic!
P.S. Did anybody see the Chelsea match? I was watching parts of it and to say the referee should be fired is an understatement, put in front of the firing squad may do him justice.
Most blatant elbow you will see all season from Ivanovic on to Benteke and somehow he escaped with a yellow. Only to score the winner a minute later. Deeply gutted for Villa as if the ref had made the correct decision, it would be 1-1 with Chelsea down to 10 men.
I guess it shows the decisions balance each other out after Villa got lucky against us, but when we will get our luck? Against Tottenham I'm hoping!
Come on Arsene! Give us a reason to be happy!

Anybody else feeling like me? That Cabaye should most definitely not be signed?
The way I see it, we play with three central midfielders, Cazorla and Wilshere, when the two are fit are definite starters. We then need a holding midfielder, Arteta has done a very good job but to push on, I feel we need a solid CDM, and Arteta can play certain games, sub appearances, pulling the strings and adding some leadership and composure when needed.
But this isn't about Mikel, its about Yohan. Why? He is not the player we need, sure he would be a great addition, would allow for higher quality rotations in the first eleven, something we are desperate for. However, for me, he would not be in our first XI. that's the problem, sure he's a great squad player, but the top teams generally don't sign squad players. They sign players better than the players they currently have, and players that were in the first team fall down the pecking order, become the squad players and have to prove they should be starting.
When top clubs do sign squad players, players for rotation purposes, that is after the first eleven has been addressed. Cabaye would be fantastic, after the signing of a GK, CB, CDM, LW, ST. But we are never getting six players, so scrap Cabaye, and sign the players we need. Why sign players that won't start when by making those signings, suddenly Mertsacker, Arteta, Podolski and possibly Giroud are on the bench to bring on. that's how you build a squad.
Same exact reasoning goes for Michu, at £25million, I would be devastated if we spent that much on him. Good player, but completely under whelming after what we were promised.
Finally, if this utter shambles of a window wasn't enough to convinces everybody that our club is poorly run, think of the way we handled the bid for Cabaye. A derisory offer made hours before a match? Embarrassing.

HassanAFC

1.) Top post mate

2.) More like terrible post. So you are saying definitely don't sign him even though he would be a good squad player. You are also assuming that by signing him he is our only transfer target and we won't sign anyone else? I'm pretty sure signing him wouldn't affect whether we signed a CB, GK or ST.

You are right that its not a priority but I'm pretty sure they can work on more than one deal at a time and we are capable of signing more than him.

£25mil for Michu is paper talk. So don't slate the club for that.

I don't think £12mil for Cabaye is derisory. It was poorly timed but who exactly told the player? Arsenal don't normally go public so its not necessarily Arsenal's fault the players knows about it.

That said it has been an absolute shambles this windows. Not sure if its bad luck conspiring or what but its probably Wenger or higher up bottling it.

3.) Sloth I acknowledged he would be a good signing, would allow for rotation and improve the strength of our squad.
But don't tell me we need another, Wilshere/Cazorla/Ramsey/Arteta/Rosicky. Its not a creative midfield player we require. Its a holding midfielder.
Furthermore, are you really telling me you think we will sign Cabaye for £15M and then go out and a top class GK, CB and ST? Even if your delusions came true we would be lacking a CDM.

Anybody thinking Fenerbache will be an easy tie does not grasp quite what Turkish football is like.
We will not win there, if we can escape with a draw then we have done fantastically. I expect us to lose, hopefully its only by one goal.
The crowds there are incredibly hostile, especially a club like Fener. There isn't a player in our team who you are confident in to keep everybody focused on the task at hand when ever black player in the team is being racially abused.
Thank God that the second leg is at The Emirates, its a tie we should win, but those expecting Arsenal to cruise it have another thing coming.

Would Di Maria really play in Turkey? Can't see it, but its probably as likely as him joining us.

Heard rumours he is signing for Fenerbache.

Yes Wengerism, it was a joke.

Sakho over Ogbonna for me. Would love that though, hope you're right because 99% of people who have heard something are wrong. But let's hope for the best, I think Rodrigo over Suarez because Suarez won't happen and that list becomes pretty realistic.

He isn't going to leave this season, it doesn't matter what he wants if he can't produce the goods.
P. S. No club in their right mind would ever offer 25-30mill for Theo. If they did I'd bite their hand off.

True, but doesn't change the fact that he is a midfielder and we still need a centre forward.

White Rabbit, the seeding is done based off of the last 5 years of the the competition, then some crazy calculation is done with the coefficient of your country.
The more successful your country has been over the last 5 years in the champions league, the higher chance you have of a better seed.
So even though Dortmund reached the final, in the last 5 years they have done very little.
Even though we haven't reached the semi's in 5 years (Correct me if I'm wrong) and haven't beaten a top 8 team, England does well as a whole so we benefit.

A death group would be amazing if we got through, entertaining matches and great confidence boost, while knocking a good team out as well!
But I don't have high hopes that we could get through a tough group, even Schalke and Ajax would probably finish above us at this rate!

Gonalons is obviously a player we are interested in, but that deal has been dead in the water for a few months, they don't want or need to sell.
However, could see Arsene going in for Gourcuff now but don't really want him anyway.
As you said, neither need to sell but why not mention the players we would like from those clubs, can't hurt.
Bakkali, Wijnaldum and Narsingh all excite me though I think the latter is injured?

Just wait till they start saying that Zelalem is a great player and should be in the first team already anyway.

Both Paulinho and Capoue could have played CDM for us and Lamela would be great on the wing for us.
Chadli and Soldado were not bad signings either, Chadli looks a good player for rotation and can only get better. Soldado is good, but over priced, I would prefer Giroud any day.
