Arsenal have been confirmed as the 4th richest club in the world today after Real, Man U & Barca.

In footballing terms where would you say we are? I'd say we struggle to get in the top 10.

The cheque book needs to be opened, and our archaic wage structure needs to be changed if we are ever going compete at the highest level where we belong.

Herts Gooner {Ed002's Note - Fifth after taking debt in to account, but very well positioned regardless.}

1.) I read an article sometime ago, about how london like new york will become the Hub of advertising and revenue.

Already the second most important city in the world and just ahead of Paris in the rankings, the revenue and marketability of any given organisation just increases with the very name London.

Now Manchester United have been far and away the only clubs to basically sell anything and everything they can see, and try to capture the market. However this is directly linked to their on pitch success.

however clubs in London will gain on what is known as the new york effect. ( it was a term used in economics when describing the NBA franchise the knicks who were irrelevant for well over a decade yet the most expensive franchise the NBA had)

So do not be alarmed down 20 years when clubs like Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, West Ham (given their new stadium) are competing for the best players on the planet.

what it will come down to will be market value

like in the NBA ( Lakers, Miami, New York ) are big markets and players go there because they will be able to earn more money outside of their salaries.

And the salaries of players will also have a ceiling, so that the league does not become unstable.

Im not American but having understood the market and marketability factor, the model the American sports franchises will eventually be voted for.

What it would do.

1) agents will have no interest in selling a player to Manchester United due to his links with Man utd.

2) with the salary being the same, it will enable trades to happen without the cause of large amounts of money to be exchanged.

3) downfall is major market superiority.

who knows. this was a very interesting article. eventually my feeling is things will lean towards a more balanced structure, voted by a majority, who will be fighting for talent.

My argument is that football is a game of 11 v 11 like basketball is a game of 5 v 5. but however just like basketball has its lebron james and Kevin durant and kobe. football has ronaldo, bale and messi.

and it will all come down to that. eventually.

2.) Ed002, Please give us the info regarding possible changes at the club this summer, pretty please with sugar on top :-)

Naz {Ed002's Note - As I explained, I will make sure that posts get put up but I am not answering anything regarding what will be happening over the next 16 months nor transfers.}

3.) Ed would you not just be able to block the abusers and answer the fans who actually respect your opinions? {Ed002's Note - It is not going to happen, sorry.}

4.) Fair enough.

Well done to those who sent in the abuse.

You've managed to lose the best source of Arsenal specific information on the site.

5.) Fair play Ed002. It was worth a try. I suppose 16 months is not that long to wait. :-
