DISCLAIMER - I am far from in the know!

I read earlier a caption linking us to Nani of Manchester United at a snip of ONLY £8 million; underrated player, under used and capable (comparable to Theo Walcott) on his day of some sublime football! I believe he'd add great depth to midfield and be a replace to Gervinho. He has to be better than Gervinho. Surely!

Just thought I would ask everyone's opinion and of course the enlightenment of the ED's.

Regards, {Ed027's Note - was of interest a few weeks ago, seems like nothing came of it

Norfolk-COYG

1.) Thank you for the fast reply.

In my opinion such a shame but I will continue to keep the "Nani" candle burning!

2.) No thanks

3.) 06 Aug 2013 09:41:38
For 8m I think he would be a valuable addition to the squad. Not exactly the world class signings we were hoping for but still useful.

Lets just hope the board get their collective fingers out sooner rather than later as what little hair I have left is rapidly being pulled out!

4.) Nani is a fine player, whom I wish we would sign.
We need:
Begovic
Williams
Fellaini
Nani
Suarez

Will we get them? Possibly Williams & Suarez.

5.) 06 Aug 2013 10:48:31
nani would be a very important player for arsenal if he signs. there is something not right with poldolski if u ask me even though he is a great finisher. seems to lack accleration and genuine pace. nani has that and goals in abundance he easily get 10-15

6.) Would prefer not to buy are rivals cast ofs

7.) Would be a great if we could get him know the premier league very will

jamaican gunne

8.) I think I speak for the majority of Arsenal fans when I say that we do not want Nani at the emirates.

9.) I was banging on about Nani on here, yes he was inconsistent at Man U but he could be such an incredible player. He'd cost less than Gerv and imo would be one of the best signings we could actually get, and at about half the price too. I really hope we sign him.

10.) At the same stage in his career as cristiano was e. g. Nano has better stats, passes, shots, goals etc. {Ed027's Note - register please

11.) To the post who quipped Manchester United cast off. We sold RVP to Manchester United, obviously not in the same light however you didn't hear their fans screaming of discontent.

To the poster who posted, I speak for most Arsenal fans we do not want Nani. No you are the minority who wishes to continue to purchase season tickets etc and excited about the prospect of a free signing, Marica.

He would be an absolute key signing! I would be very happy to watch Nani play on our wing. Podolski would add depth to our strike force as I do not think he's that effective on the wing.

NORFOLK-COYG

12.) Does anyone see Nani as a replacement for Walcot, if he was part-ex for Suarez?

13.) 06 Aug 2013 18:03:13
i agree with not buying our rivals cast off but. if u can tell me a left winger avaliable for 8m who is better than nani i'd bite your hand off

k cider

Hi,

First post in 2014.

I just read somewhere that Vucinic's agent has made a statement that reads somewhere along the lines that, Vucinic will remain a Juventus player and will not be joining/coming to London during January.

You never know what happens between now and tomorrow night but it doesn't seem too good. I don't really know if Vucinic would have been a good signing although with Bendtner (I still don't like him not would give him an opportunity) and Giroud not a prolific striker, I would be happy to see someone come in! I don't hate Giroud, hold up play is good, just do not think he's top four striking quality.

Kind regards and fingers crossed it turns out to be a good window.

It's been a torrid time and a nail-biting transfer window. Pleased with the signing of Mesut Ozil and the fact AW is now prepared to push our financial firepower however I do still feel a little, only a little, disappointed we didn't sign a striker.

I know Giroud has been in fine form but he's certainly not an exquisite striker. He holds play up really well but seems tentative to sometimes shoot and possesses not so good pace. Only concern is that if he does get injured then Bender and Sanogo are out back up?

Not too long until January! ;)

I read that the "world's greatest player" has been paid off by AFC and that he only spent 10 minutes inside Crystal Palace? Is it true we have him £3 million to leave?

It's strange after AW's comments that he could feature but nevertheless it's brilliant news and surely, a sign another striker is coming in?!

I have my fingers' crossed that it isn't Demba Ba, although he is an alright player, on loan. Come on AW pull it out of the bag again!

Is it a possibility that Benzema could come too? I keep hearing that Ozil is NOT the surprise transfer? I know Liverpool have categorically said Suarez wouldn't be sold but who knows? If the money is there would they refuse?

Not too sure who the goalkeeper is but I will keep quiet. Could we see a DM come in?

Exciting times and hopefully we can see more quality players added; I for one doubted AW but Ozil signing has encouraged me.

I wonder if they are leaving the "confirmation" until they have ALL there transfers in place. By all I hope for two or three!

Unfortunately Ozil has stated that although he is flattered, he is going nowhere. Slightly a shame but I do prefer Di Maria (doesn't seem likely either)!

It's lovely to be associated with a possible transfer for these players but I cannot believe how many of us, Arsenal fans, believed we'd actually sign players of spend the apparent 70 million (transfer kitty).

I'm resigned, and I don't feel the current squad has enough depth to really challenge for anything, to believing that only the MONEY secured from Champions League qualifiers will be spent; yes it's in there and perhaps more but there has been repetition at Arsenal where the books had to balance. I can see and of course I know not much, that only 20/30 million will be spent. It was obvious in AW's words a month ago that Arsenal weren't vying for the EPL. He said that in two or three years we realistically could? This "special" player has been weaved through every statement AW makes and honestly, it all means that he's not prepared to pay and keeps faith in his current squad.

Aaron Ramsey has had a couple of good games against Fenerbache. And an underwhelming Fulham side. I think he's good but he's not special! The only player/s I believe that are special are SANTI CAZORLA. That fella could walk into any team easily.

It's a nervous time, hair pullling, biting nails and greying rapidly but that's the joy of supporting Arsenal. One day we will set the world on fire again, sadly not anytime soon.

It will be very interesting to see how spurs play against us this weekend. On paper I am quite impressed and GOD HELP ME I DESPISE THEM but money well spent with Bale's transfer.

My only worry is santi is used to winning with Spain how long till he leaves

2.) Probably leave next year when we don't make champions league along with couple others stating lack of ambition

25 Aug 2013 23:12:44
Just curious but with Wenger and board being very stingy, I wonder if the next signing, if there is another one, will come from a mediocre team in Spain with their current financial problems?

Norfolk-COYG

1.) Cough cough Valencia cough cough!

But we will pay (allegedly) £42 million for Ozil?

You know, shoot me down as I don't really care anymore about football. It's been sucked right out of me after firstly reading Gazidis' comments stating, "We have at least 70 million to spend and we can now compete".

I had hoped we got beaten by Villa yesterday because I believe that with A Wenger's ignorance we are going downward! I wholeheartedly believe Wenger ignorantly thought, as we had 12 games at the end of the season unbeaten, that this squad could cut it. It all hindered on last seasons end performances where we weren't great and narrowly got fourth. I remember seeing the cheers on Arsenal faces at the end of the game when we knew we'd qualified for the Champs League; it's a shame because we celebrated like the EPL was ours, that there were no problems and we were happy. Eight years without a trophy and most were aiming for that top four spot.

I did read in June or July that Wenger stated we wouldn't compete for the EPL for at least two or three seasons?! I didn't take the bait when we bid for Suarez knowing full well that Liverpool wouldn't be us. Selling our best player to a team who's up there like ourselves.

All was forgotten when we had our fourth spot! Everybody came round to the idea of giving AW another year to see. Now realisation hits in when we lost to Villa.

Yes, he's been an incredible manager and the best to date but it's gone stale.

Two or three more years to the EPL? We were promised so much and given so little. I haven't been to the game for four years now, I haven't bought a shirt and I wouldn't put money into their greedy pockets.

Is this Kroenke's influence and AW is following suit as normal. Surely, Gazidis wouldn't come out publicly and announce that were going to spend big on signings and compete? Otherwise, like he does now, he has egg all on his face. Strange.

It's a joke and I can only hope the next couple of weeks bare fruit, which they will, but will be the normal standard of players. Rush buys again.

Ashley Williams. I watched him yesterday. In my opinion should perhaps be looked upon.

I think this realistically spells the end of our quest for Luis Suarez. It was confirmed yesterday I believe that his contract merely allows LFC to sit down and contemplate the offer. NOTHING else. Unfortunately time wasted and LFC aren't daft, they will not sell their best player to a EPL club that will consequently strengthen. They're not us!

I wonder if AW has now got a sweat on? Gonzalo Higuain a mistake to let go? Mediocre players as we near the end of the transfer market. Supermarket Sweep!

Granted.

The spending spree money is sitting pretty with the money acquired from loans, sales and even more disgrace, season ticket holders!

It will be quite interesting to see who we will get in the CL qualifiers on Friday. I wonder if the money earned with qualifying and that's a big if for qualification will continue to build interest?

One of the many disillusioned fans.

Where on earth did shop fittings come from my last post? :S

It was meant to read AW's comments were Arsenal FC would be competing for premier league in two or three years recently.

AND read what you will about that. I am drawn to us signing a lack of quality!

I shed my pity for you. I came off, in one of the hotter climates for ten days, expecting to see a host of marquee signings. Only was I then greeted by what I saw TOTTENHAM were up to!

Enjoy it! ;)

Won pre-season games? Giroud scoring for fun? I bet my local team would give better then what we have played so far. It's a complete joke on you all and me included!

We play against the REAL teams of Napoli and possibly an okay team on Galatasaray and I didn't see a win. Waiting with baited breath for our Saturday kick off with Manchester City - that'll be an eye opener.

Excuses, excuses. The team got tired because they played two games. I'm sorry, Napoli and Gala only played one game? Arsenal obviously played more minutes. BS

Valley-Gooner,

As good as a point you provide, I am at a point where Fernando Torres would be welcomed! It's gotten that bad - it's a shame because for Liverpool he was outstanding but the switch to Chelsea has KILLED his football.

Hell. I would even settle for Defoe.

Lacklustre.
