If I were manager and looking at players to buy, I'd start with the core of the team.
Cesar would be a good bargain as experienced and a decent keeper.
Hummells of Dortmund
Shawcross from stoke
Chiellini from juventus
These could all play with koscielny.
Midfield, fellaini would add some much need presence/height in there since we lost vieira, Gilberto, edu, and petit and never replaced them.
Strikers are the problem, Darren bent would be a cheap option but not the answer.
For me Suarez isn't the answer as too disruptive in the club and would cause problems for us like he has at Liverpool.
Torres is past his best
Rooney would be a good buy as he needs a new challenge and maybe could be convinced since he's not the main man at Manchester United since they took rvp from us.
Huntelaar would be a good buy as proved in the cl against us last season.
This is my opinion alone and feel we need to strengthen the spine of the team and then we may get back to winning trophies again.

1.) In an ideal transfer window we need to get rid of the deadwood fans who boo their own players and manager. And replace them with the loyal die hard fans we were once famed for having.

2.) 06 Aug 2013 10:38:21
I stopped reading after you suggested Shawcross!

3.) Cesar is not a bargain as he is on massive wages, Shawcross is a thug, Bent wasn't good enough for spurs.

4.) The thought of the thug that is Ryan Shawcross in a Arsenal shirt makes me shudder. No thanks.

5.) Crawl back into your hole "Wengerism". You aren't a shareholder in the club by any chance are you?

This is only the first game but a loss is a loss so I totally disagree with your statement wengerism, as this team has been in decline for years as selling players like fab and rvp only proves we are slowly falling behind the top teams.
It pains me to see my club as a farce and when will mr wenger and the board realise that this is not acceptable by arsenals standards.
Mr wenger built a team on the foundations left by George graham, Stewart Houston and Bruce Rioch and benefited in his early years.
Yes he transformed our club and the stadium/training facility, but he has too much pride and ego to admit he is wrong with the current crop of players as I don't think any of the squad would even feature for the invincible team, koscielny, jack and carzola would make the bench but its a far cry from what standards wenger set himself.
It's nice that you are behind the manager but I support Arsenal football club not arsenal wenger football club and no one is bigger than the club and if he's not providing us with the team to challenge and reward average players then its time to step down and let someone else take the reigns.

My father was a gooner and we first watched the 87 littlewoods cup final win against Liverpool 2-1 champagne Charlie Nicholas scored both I think, sadly my father passed away in 2006, and in the fa cup 4 years ago, arsenal played plymouth argyle on jan 3rd.
Our team played the city I was born in on the anniversary of his death at the emirates that he never got the chance to go to because of illness.
My second son was born the following day and was 10 days over but had to be there and now both sons of mine are arsenal fans.
Once a gooner, always a gooner :)
