Poznan in my pants has a really good blog post detailing the debt and availability of $. Discusses the Neville quotes at the end of the season using Swiss Ramble's financial analysis. It gives me hope for a couple of reasons. First we had no $ in previous seasons. We didn't spend because we couldn't. Second we will not be that far off from the City Chelsea as the years continue. That said I still don't expect us drop huge cash under Wenger, but when his successor comes in, who probably won't have the talent of Wenger, we can buy. Also we won't get beat continually on wages.

First time poster long time reader and Gooner. And the ramble starts.

First I think the loss of the Skunk can't be overstated. Our leader and a close friend of many of our players leaves after proclaiming his love for the club and carrying it for 18 months really shell shocked the team. Cesc was going to leave and the team knew that, Nasri I don't think they really gave a s&6t about, but the Skunk, especially to United stunned everyone. Its like in elementary school (here in the States) and some kid everyone admires rocks Umbros for two years, talks s&*t about Nikes, and suddenly everyone starts buying Umbros. Then the kid comes back from the summer in Nikes and talks s&*t about Umbros. Everyone knows he's being hypocritical, but they still feel silly and go out and buy Nikes. Silly example but that's what I think.

About our team now though and that's what's important. I think Wenger, unless Bac asks to leave may keep him around and take the lost $'s after next season. We don't need the money and he can continue to help bed Jenks in and maybe some time for Bellerin, who should go to Betis on loan if the rumours about the partnership are true.

Here in the States they talk about our "football" as being built from the lines out. That is the offensive and defensive lines by the way (the huge dudes that crouch over and then run into each other). Successful teams build from the lines out because it allows their flair players (receivers and running backs and quarterbacks) to do their jobs and put points on the board on offensive, or conversely disrupt the flair players on when you are on defense. The development of the BFG and Kos pairing and Gibbsy's development and Nacho's presence, combined with Ramsey and Rosicky's work ethic has given us solid "lines" if you will. Add a new DM in and we do need one, Arteta can't play 40-50 games again, and our flair players will feel secure enough to go out and put the ball in the f"ing net.

DM a really physical presence, scare some people in the tunnel, a Jovetic type striker, and someone who can cross the ball and we should be fine. Keep Bac, he doesn't have to play all the time but for years we would have taken the cash and lived with the consequences of losing a dressing room presence and mentor and we have scraped by. I feel like if we had kept Viera or Pires for another couple of years we probably would have picked up a cup or two.

1.) I agree with 99 percent of your post, but I don't think arsenal will ever use the term 'we don't need the money' - they will take money for sagna if the offer is decent, and will replace him with someone cheaper. that's the arsenal way.
