Ed002, you recently said that Arsenal are keeping a watching brief on Khedira, suggesting that he isn't the priority. This is a change from what you said a while back; that Khedira was the focus for Arsenal. Who are they focusing on now at the DM position?

I'm not usually one to bash on Wenger, but I simply cannot believe he thinks we can seriously compete for the Premier League and Champions League given the shortage of depth and/or quality in the centerback, midfield, and striker (in light of Giroud's long term injury) positions.
Giroud and Sánchez are a good tandem, but now the former will be unavailable until New Year's. Sanogo isn't ready to be starting, nor even be a backup at a club like Arsenal, yet it seems Wenger will be sticking with him to replace Giroud for the next 3-4 months, perhaps more if there's a setback. Doesn't exactly bode well.
Arsenal has considerable quality at the centerback, but going an entire season of 60+ games with only 3 centerbacks, one of them being inexperienced and somewhat mistake prone in Chambers, is not recommendable. Chambers is also expected to provide cover at right back, so having another centerback to cover in case of injury/fatigue is much more favorable.
Midfield is a position that had to be upgraded this summer. Arteta has been a vital player for Arsenal, but the guy is 31-32 years old and his athleticism and physical parameters have been rapidly declining. He's still a good, and necessary player to have in the squad, but Arsenal needs someone younger, stronger, faster, and more athletic than Arteta while having similar qualities as him (passing, positional awarness, intelligence, etc.). If Arsenal go into the season content with what they have, don't be surprised if they continue to be dominated by other top teams this seasons.
{Ed025's Note - it gets worse skeptic, sevilla are now saying the bacca deal is off due to arsenal being too late with a better offer, leaving them no time to replace him..

Do you guys know if Arsenal's bid for Khedira is acceptable to Real Madrid yet? Also, is it true that Manquillo's loan will include an option to buy?
1.) According to the source that first broke the Sanchez interest, there is a buy out option for Manquillo.
