Just heard too that 30mil bid for Cavani was made.

Yabz

Believable34 Unbelievable50

I bet any money malaga started this.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry for being the messenger of doom, but which 30 mil player would fit in to our wage structure?

Agree1 Disagree0

Cavani said this two months ago so don't wet your nickers just yet. "I'm happy at Napoli, my teammates are fantastic, the fans are very passionate and my family is settled here I'm happy I came here"

Agree0 Disagree1

If cavani was to grace the premier league, Chelsea would ship that waste of 50 mil called Torres and cavani would be star attraction at the bridge circus ..

Agree0 Disagree0

Cavani said he was happy and so was his family, hmmm, so did a certain Dutch forward last year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Also buy out clause is 44 million so way out of our league

Yes we all heard the cavani to arsenal tweet

I'm sure I won't be the 1st one to say this, but Arsenal have bid 30mil on a player earlier this morning. (Geoff Arsenal)

Believable25 Unbelievable41

Rumour is that's it carvani from

Agree0 Disagree1

Yeh, Van Persie.

Agree0 Disagree1

I hope this is true, and it does make sense, RVP has not been replaced yet, and I can't see Wenger spending that kind of money on a Central defender or defensive midfielder.
I also think that if 30mill is being spent, then Walcott is on his way.

Braintreegooner

Agree0 Disagree1

The 30m signing probably is Walcott including his signing on fee and the next 3 years wages.

geoff arsenal has just said we have bid 30m for a player although he doesnt know who that is yet
trust me he is very reliable he broke the cazorla news first and also broke the sahin deal on loan to arsenal before it got broken down.

If we had signed Remy - would we all be moaning about another sub standard Frenchman joining the club?

However, for 8m we would also say we missed a trick.

I think for that money he would have been a decent option to complement Pod, Giroud and Theo

SY4 {Ed002's Note - He has been poor for a year and struggling to get in teh Marseille team.}

Believable2 Unbelievable20

He aint that great....wouldnt make that much difference...the Sevilla striker is much better player.....

Despite being a Red member I bought my tickets on General Sale as I could then get a ticket for a mate who is not a member. Tried to get some of the seats that were priced £36 to £40 and was told they were all sold out so had to buy 2 at £55 each plus booking fee and postage so spent £116 in all. When I looked into the areas where the cheaper seats were located there were vast swathes of empty seats going begging. Surely not all these people were on holiday or fearful of blizzards descending. I think the website is designed to fool you into buying the more expensive seats first!

Ed what are the chances of Lewandowski coming to emirates, he's a class striker {Ed002's Note - Very slim.}

Believable3 Unbelievable21

16 Jan 2013 19:14:06
The fact wenger hasn't gone in for M'Vila tells me a DMF will not be brought in. Diaby/Coquelin will deputise for Arteta whilst he's out. However, I feel we need a top class DMF and not a makeshift playmaker ie Arteta/Diaby. Typically, Wenger thinks differently.

A Striker will also not be purchased. Walcott will sign and that will leave us with Walcott, Giroud, Podolski and Gervinho. It is a natural left winger we should be looking at (Podolski isn't that)

MSN are reporting Theo has signed 'in theory' a 3 year deal worth 100K a week a a seven figure signing on fee! Now go and get Zaha, another massive British talent and buld this team around the Engilsh boys!

Believable12 Unbelievable16

A seven figure signing on fee is 10m plus....think youve got it wrong {Ed035's Note - no it's not, seven figures covers £1,000,000 up to £9,999,999

Agree0 Disagree0

After the performance he gave last night I would rip the contract up and sell Walcott. He could not get a corner into the box, he missed 2 absolute sitters and totally missed a header right in front of goal - £100k per week, you must be joking - he simply is not worth it!

Rumours going around that Llorrente might be moving to Juve for 3.3 million pounds. If the price is so low, why don't we bid on him? It seems like other clubs signal their intent on a player, and go after him. Why doesn't Arsene adopt this policy? {Ed002's Note - It really doesn't work like that - the talks have been going on for months.}

This isn't funny.....he's my favorite striker in the world and Arsenal is my favorite club.....football Gods aren't funny jerking me around like this on false hope....like Gooners haven't dealt with enough transfer rubbish

As per this game......lets go folks...finally a good lineup. Coqs holds, Diaby destroys and Jack opens things up.

£30m on higuain? Higuain is probably odds on to go to either PSG or Chelsea in the summer. I see Falcao going R.Madrid. Definitely not Higuain certainly not worth that, furthermore he is near his peak and that's not impressive. A very good striker, but not £30m

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2013 18:35:59
Please stop crying about M'Villa. We will not get him, and that is a good thing. He is a person, and not as good as you want him to be. Why would we pay 8 mill for a mediocre player with terrible attitude? I agree we need a dominating CDM, and I believe Wenger has the right man in his sight. As for Remy, I don't think he would be the answer for our top-striker. Neighter is Adrian Lopez.....my opinion. We score plenty of goals, the problem is that we have no DCM to help out our defence.

Things will happen this January, and I really hope Walcott puts pen to paper. He is an important part of our british core.

Please back me up on this Ed.

Ads 995 {Ed002's Note - Someone mentioned Gourcuff earlier. I don't know of his fitness and the only vague interest I know of is from Spartak. A move to Los Angeles in January strikes me as far more likely but MIlan and Paris could be possible destinations. It would be expensive to bring him to England. Hi eds, you know of any interest from Arsenal in Josip Ilicic. I understand the club had interest in the player a couple of years ago, an he is a good player. Also the Capoue rumours blushed up again this morning.

Any news on these two players? {Ed002's Note - Both Milan clubs, Napoli and Juventus have an interest in Ilicic with Napoli and Inter likely favourites if he does come up for sale - which I doubt in January. England seems an unlikely destination although Spurs, Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Aston Villa have looked at the player in the fairly recent past.

Etienne Capoue has attracted confirmed interest from Everton, Schalke, Anzhi, Inter and Benfica in addition to the longer term interest of Spurs and Arsenal. Chelsea, Zenit and West Ham had representatives at the Toulouse vs Sochaux around Christmas but there is no real confirmation of whether interest was in Capoue, or anyone else for that matter. Toulouse are not keen to sell right now but I suspect would play clubs off against Anzhi forcing the price up if he is to move in January.}

Ed..
Can you confirm or deny that AW has actually put a bid in for any player to strengthen the squad.
As always all we hear is if's, buts and maybe's..

If we don't get a Centre Half, Defensive Midfielder and Striker we will be lucky to get a Europa spot let alone Top 4.

Hey eds,

Has there ever been anything said about Oscar Cardozo?
Im not sure of how long his contract is at Benfica but from what ive seen he is a good player and does score a good amount of goals.
Was just wondering if there has been any intest from arsenal in the past and possible future interest.

Hello Eds, do you know whether Arsenal still have any interest in Hernanes of Lazio and whether a move for him this month is at all likely? I remember there being interest in the summer but it has gone quiet since then. Cheers {Ed002's Note - It was thought that there could be interest in Hernanes at the right price over the summer but Lazio quoted a figure above £20M which is why Juventus were put off initially. Previously Liverpool and Benfica had shown tentative interest. Now it seems that he will stay until at least the summer in Rome before Juventus again make an offer.}

Great work ed02
Ed i would be very thankful to you if you please tell me which players are likely to join arsenal this january.thanx
Wajid {Ed002's Note - Wajid, we cannot reasonably say who is likely to join. I can tell you where I know of interest and where there has not been any interest if I know. A bit off the top of my head but Arsenal have an interest in a striker still and have certainly looked at Adrian Lopez, Lewandowski, Negredo, Shakhtar Donetsk's Adriano (as a cheaper option to Damiao). There has also been interest shown in Udinese's right back Dusan Basta. In midfield I think the club made a mistake not pushing ahead with the purchase of Wanyama in the summer but Benat and the more flexible Mbiwa have been looked at recently. There has also been a little interest in the likes of Markovic, Lars Bender, Konoplyanka and Hatem Ben Arfa but I cannot see anything coming to fruition there and it is likely more wishful thinking than anything serious. It is hard to see what interest remains in the likes of Llorente, Dragovic and Wanyama who were all previously of interest. I understand that there was interest in Holtby but Spurs made their move and in Huntelaar. A very slim chance of Zaha if a deal for Walcott cannot be achieved.}

Believable5 Unbelievable11

Hopefully not, overrated!

Agree0 Disagree1

Not this month.....

Edd..... Is that your way of saying something may be done in the future or am i just dreaming? {Ed002's Note - No, it is my way of saying Benzema will not move to Arsenal this month. There is no secret message in there, otherwise I would have challenged you to find the solution by suggesting you consider a bus route from Clerkenwell and the colour magenta.}

Agree0 Disagree0

"overrated" ? have you actually SEEN him play in real? he is actually my dream player for arsenal. technical, quick, natural goalscorer.
When real bought benzema, cristiano ronaldo actually said after couple of training sessions that benzema is THE BEST player he ever played with.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2013 12:06:56
I can't see Arsene Wenger signing anyone this transfer window. It's all well and good saying the club wants to sign players but if nothing is actually done about it, then what message does that actually send out to the rest of the squad?

I can actually see the transfer window shutting and no new signings coming in and the excuse will be "we tried, but no one was available" and this summer the club will lose another key player because to put it plainly, the club lack ambition.

Believable17 Unbelievable5

With the signing of walcott being used to soften the blow

Agree0 Disagree0

I like most Gooners would be disappointed if we did not strengthen our team during this transfer period but if there is no one available who will strengthen us then why buy worse players?
Remember we still have the self proclaime genius that is bendtner and squillaci and a few other pieces of dross; so should we add more dross for you to complain about during the next transfer window or should we bide our time.

Agree1 Disagree0

It's beginning to look this way. One can only hope that Wenger and the board have the wherewithal to dig us out of the mess we are in. Top four looks highly unlikely without an injection of steel at the back/cdm and someone to score goals.

Believable9 Unbelievable16

M'vila aint all he's cracked up to be. watched him a good few times on ESPN and when he played against Celtic in last seasons Europa league. He wasn't a stand out at that level and i think we have dodged a bullet there IMO. I'm sure that will become apparent to everyone when he is relegated with QPR after a string of mediocre performances. I think you just have to trust that Arsenal scouting system and realise that if he was that good QPR or Newcastle wouldnt stand a chance cause he would be aiming higher....

Jaiza1888

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't say "awful", there's a reason why Arsene really wanted him for a bit {Ed001's Note - very time I have seen him, honestly he has been awful. I just don't get the hype, unless I just happened to be unlucky and catch the 20 games he was awful in.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolutely agree, M'Vila looks awful every time I've watched him. I would love to see make every effort to sign Fellaini & Wanyama (spelling? Celtic). We should play these two in the middle with Oxlade wide right & Cazorla wide left. Walcott could play off Giroud. We be able to alternate these players with Arteta, Abu Diaby, Wilshere, Ramsey, etc...

Agree0 Disagree0

Ive seen him play a lot this season and he's shocking can't belive this is the same player from last season qpr are welcome to him

Hi ed.
For me mvila is clearly high potential. Not sure if you saw him when france played againt england but he was awesome... We need someone who can tackle in midfield... {Ed001's Note - I don't watch international footie much, it is never a good way to judge a player as teams stand off the opposition more. Players look better as they are given more time and space to perform.}

Agree0 Disagree0

C'mon ed everyone is entitled to an odd 20 games where they are awful! I saw the 10 games before that and he was terrible.

Personally I don't understand how we're letting deals like m'vila and remy get out of our grasp, players we have looked at for years and could have easily got this window

Wenger chased m'vila for 2 years but felt rennes asking price of 15million+ was too much now he is available for £7.9million why are we not straight in for him, the club needs to spend ans the city game proved it, i won't be happy if we don't sign atleast 2 players this window.

Clock end gooner

Believable15 Unbelievable14

Why do you think he was dropped from the french team? he's a trouble maker and not good in the dressing room. it affects the whole team.
balotelli the same and adebayor is also the same that's why he can't settle at a club.

Agree0 Disagree0

The beady eye has been cast over Mvila by a lot of clubs.It seems everybody knows about him and none have taken to him.If he was that good Im sure he would be fought over by a few clubs for 7.5 million and not going to the basement club of the EPL.

Agree0 Disagree0

M'vila is one of the most overrated players in football at the moment, plus his attitude is a disgrace! plenty of better and higher quality players in the market such as biglia, capoue and wanyama

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2013 06:55:07
Remy and M'Villa are not Arsenal class. That is way they will play in QPR and QPR are fighting to stay in EPL....

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think we're letting either of those players get away!! The fact is those players are not good enough to improve our squad to the level we need. We need top class players not players who will try to fight relegation battles.

Rob

Agree0 Disagree0

QPR are in a position to take a 7m punt on a player who is performing at one tenth his quality of two years ago, arsenal cannot, hence why Wenger and his staff have looked, assessed and found him wanting when it comes to attitude and form, not worth the money

Agree0 Disagree0

Reason we don't want him is cos if his attitude and tbh he's gone gargage qpr welcome to him
