Wenger has given are youngster Akpom a champions
leauge squad number.

Ive never seen him play,have you guys?All I know
he is a talented 17year old defensive midfielder rated
very highly by Wenger.

Is Thomas Elsfield able to get a champions leauge
squad number?

Hate to burst the bubble, but he's actually a forward, he's a bit of a tank from what I've seen, which admittedly, is VERY little.
Apparently, the rate him highly in the youth set up, but then how often have we heard that, then been disappointed?
I'm naturally cynical about most things, so sorry to put a downer on him, and I hope he comes out and plays with aplomb!
But I've got Sanchez Watt, Jay Simpson and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas in my mind!

I think hes a striker or at least a forward not a defensive mid.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol he's a striker not defensive midfield

Agree0 Disagree0

He is a striker

Agree0 Disagree0

Thought Chuba Akpom was a striker?

Agree0 Disagree0

As the others say, Akpom is a striker but Martin Angha has got a squad number and is mainly a central defender (but like his Swiss compatriot he can probably play across the back and CDM if needed..... )
but that's seems a bit risky for a CL game let alone PL ~ maybe vs Bradford??

Agree0 Disagree0

Under 18 year olds do not need champions league squad numbers - they are already eligible because of thier age!

and he is not a defensive midfielder. you know nothing!

"Academy players Zak Ansah, Nigel Neita, Austin Lipman, Joshua Rees, Jack Jebb, Samir Bihmoutine, Sead Hajrovic, Isaac Hayden, Elton Monteiro, Jordan Wynter and Reice Charles-Cook, none of whom have played for the first team, have also been handed Champions League squad numbers."

I saw Chuba play for England against NI in the under 16 Victory Shield tournament in Ballymena when he was 14 or 15. He came on as a sub and scored. I was so impressed by his performance that I googled him to see who he played for. I was delighted when I discovered he was on our books. Big, strong bustling player with an eye for goal even as a 14/15 year old.

edoo2 i heard something interesting the weekend and i wanted to ask your opinion on it.

i was told the reason we dropped interest in m'vila was to do with disciplinary hearing and wenger did not want him going up in front of the french football federation with arsenal being his club.
when i first heard this i just brushed it aside as BS but if you think about it,it is something the club would not like to be associated with.

i was all so told he will be an arsenal player come january now that the hearing and punishment has been handed out.

any chance you could keep an eye out for any info?
thanks mate

champagne charlie {Ed002's Note - I can help a little and certainly clarify what was told to you. The recent issue and charge which has resulted in the lengthy ban is nothing to do with this hearing. The events leading to this matter to place in mid October long after the transfer window had closed. My understanding is that what made Arsenal nervous during the transfer window was a previous issue that caused concerns at the Euros. With the concerns over M'Vila and the departure of Song I am reliably informed that the target became Wanyama and that the deal was expected to be completed - but wasn't. If anything crops up I will let you know.}

Believable10 Unbelievable1

Thanks oo2,its just a shame,i have been following this boy for a couple of years and he would have been a typical wenger target that in my opinion would have turned out to be world class.

just quickly ed i know your busy.
you mentioned wanyama is there still a chance and if not can you see us going for a dm?

cheers

champagne charlie {Ed002's Note - Wanyama's profile has increased in recent months and the time to make a grab for him was clearly in the summer - now I am not so sure. I also would not rule out M'Vila moving entirely.}

If we lose Walcott and miss out on Zaha, how about looking at dutch winger Luciano Narsingh. He is probably as quick as Walcott and looks very decent.

Eds, has this player been linked with a move anywhere in recent times? {Ed002's Note - Yes. Not only linked but he moved as well. You appear to be clutching at straws.}

ed001-ed002,,have you any info on theo walcott contract talks and do you know what clubs are interested?

thanks

champagne charlie {Ed002's Note - From my perspective I still expect a deal to be agreed and a new contract signed by Walcott. However, in January, if no deal has been agreed he will be able to talk with the likes of Juventus who have apparently shown tentative interest. There remains the thought that Liverpool would be interested in taking him, although they cannot speak to him without the club agreeing before the end of the season. Arsenal can easily stonewall a move in January so I don't know if Walcott will even be available for a move then - nor what other options he would have if he were. Deciding to leave Arsenal may not enhance his career, particularly if he wants to stay in England.}

Come across a bit of news over the weekend, thought I'd share, believe it if you wish.
I'm a journalist by trade and also doing training to become an agent so have good contacts in both industries.
Over the weekend I had meetings with a top agent who has players at AFC and a AFC correspondent for one of the bigger UK papers.
Anyway I discussed Walcott with them here's what they had to say:
Agent:
Liverpool have offered him 100k a week he's very keen, they want him in Jan and don't mind paying a fee, he wants to go in the summer to get a huge signing on fee.
Journo:
Arsenal will not budge from their 75k per week offer, he believes Man City will take him in the summer with a huge signing on fee and wage offered.
I'm just passing on what I've been told.

If Liverpool have already offered him a contract before he has six months left then isn't that considered 'tapping-up'? {Ed002's Note - Well, Liverpool may speak with his agent but not with the player. They are not able to speak to him in January without permission of the club either as the 6 month rule only applies to foreign sides.}

Agree0 Disagree0

IF either of these comments are true then it is time for Arsenal to wake up and smell the coffee.
It's all very well having principles and of course it is recommended to show some prudence in business, but whoever it is who is showing such intransigence towards walcott over his demands is now passed the point of being stoic and crossed into beligerence and stubborness. Meeting Walcott somewhere in the middle - a new contract now at say 90k with a performance review, scheduled re-negotiation, plus a "re-signing on" fee would surely not be beyond the bounds of reason? Whether we like it or not -a nd I've been one who has tired of Walcotts inconsistency - the whole of this saga has taken on a greater significance than ever in the light of the other embarrassing contract negotiations (Gazidis: "now, lemme see, what was I supposed to be doing today/this year....hmmm, major players coming to the end of their contracts. Right so it's me prioritising my career and profile first, Nasri, Van Persie and any other players with a year to run second") - we need to make a stand, plus we could do with another striker to support Giroud/have a Plan B. Oh, we've got one! Theo!

SORT THIS OUT ARSENAL, PLEASE.
Max Farnham {Ed002's Note - Obviously there remains a chance that Walcott will leave eitehr in January for a fee or in the summer. However, I think you can rest assured that the original poster was teasing you. I don't know of any journalists who would refer to themselves or others as a "journo". Additionally, there is no "training" to become an agent.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Bet you haven't been told this...or if you have it was people you made up

Agree0 Disagree0

Utter tripe.

Agree0 Disagree0

From what i heard at LC today, Theo will sign, but this will all depend on whether Mr Wenger adds a few more bodies to the squad. He loves the club, and contary to what the papers say, he is not driven by money. He just wants assurances, on whether AFC can compete with the best in the PL.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you have never heard of a journalist refer to themselves or anyone else in the industry as a journo then frankly you don't know any in the field journalists. In regards to the agent work your correct there is no formal training or FA course but there is an exam. The exam has two windows it can be taken in, we are not currently in one of the windows.For that reason I am currently shadowing an agent who I know through my journalism work. When I come to do the exam I will already know the ins and outs of the industry so the exam won't be too much trouble. Finally its naïve to think Liverpool haven't contacted Walcott because he has more than six months to run on his contract. If they did It then correct it would be illegal but there are many options to get around this, to be honest I've offered you info the majority have chosen not to believe it that's fine I'm a sceptic myself, I just dislike being called a liar or any of the other things I've been called in the above comments. {Ed002's Note - I know rather a lot of people in journalism and as I said none would use the term "journo". Additionally you stated that you were "doing training to become an agent" - there is no training; it is complete BS. Whatever you have read on the exam is BS as well - it is nothing to do with the "industry" but is to do with the FA rules and regulations. If you are making such a serious allegation about Liverpool as the tapping up of a player you will also know that you should report the matter. Sadly, the reality is a long way off. Perhaps you should have this "top agent" (whatever the hell that is) you are "shadowing" explain the six month rule to you.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Sports agents always tell journalists that big clubs are interested, and they alway tell journalists that those clubs are offering what their client wants. The journalists put it in the papers. We read it. We make a stink. This is supposed to make the manager make a move, or make the other clubs become a little interested. It's how sports agents work. You generate interest in your client by telling lies, and hoping they become true.

Was watching a bit of the Sevilla v Betis match and cant help but think what a great player Reyes could have turned out to be. He scored twice today and alot of us agree that he was a great talent but obviously he couldnt settle here in London but more importantly he didnt get on well with TH14 after that Aragones incident. I also think personally that due to him not being a success, it really put off AW from making any more really big signings (from Spain) because I am pretty sure he could have broken the £20m barrier to get Villa or Torres, but we will never know.
