£30 mil a year for the kit is fantastic, means we won;t have to sell our top players every year to make our £20m profit Wenger spoke of, so now no excuse not to give Walcott a contract.

Only problem is the Stadium name extension, what is it? Another 10 years almost, that should have been worth a tidy lump sum for good faith at least, so am disappointed we didn't get an added 30m-50m into the hand, would have made for an interesting January, still its good progress

Bring on addidas!

Sheeny i think its a nice bit of business.

when we go back in 5 years they will not want the shirt name changed because the stadium is tied up long term.

if thats what they gave us for not winning anything in 7 years imagine what we would be worth if we became a success in the next 5?
there is talk of them becoming the biggest airline in the world and we have them long term.
THIS WILL OPEN A GATEWAY FOR US INTO AISIA BIG TIME.

the ball is in the clubs court now,i think the emirates vice president was having a dig when he said about investment in players if i read him right.

i believe addidas is making a huge bid for us.i cant see nike willing to let us go for 22-25 million and that should be the going rate for 1 of the top sides in europe.
from reports addidas could be as much as 30 MILL.

I think the current deal with the emirates extends the stadium rights until 2028...so another 15 years.

Old trafford does not even get money from naming rights not does barcelona or real madrid..

would you want the name to change every 5 years for some cash? id rather have a name to identify our stadium...rather than sell it to the highest bidder.

The shirt sponser will go down between nike and adidas and gazidis is using his links with tom fox to get nike to up their offer or we will walk to adidas.

money is there...will we spend it is what we should be bothered about..

end of the day if the club breaks even im happy...all i want is a squad that is worthy to win trohpies every year.

and they have said we can compete with the best and if this is step one then so be it...but lets concentrate on the team.

I'm not doubting that its progress I just think they could have fought for a tidy little package for this January for the name extension.

And no i certainly wouldn't want the name to change repeatedly I was never behind commercial name rights, I'd rather we didn't extend it and got a proper name for ourselves but seeing as we're in til 2028 I think more money would have been nice.

But fair point from Cha, there effectively locked in til 2028 with new shirt negotiations, that is unless they run into difficulties or in 5 years time we're not worth and 150m deal and don't extend, meaning they got a handy 10 years more on the stadium. Hopefully though we'll have won a few things by then, could get 40-50 for the shirt by then

All I have to say to Addias is: BRING BACK THE YELLOW AND BLUE AWAY KIT~!

So sick and tired of Nike giving Arsenal a "look" when our "look" was set well before Nike ever got the deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

We are not selling players because we need the money. We are selling players because the players want to leave Arsenal. That is the problem

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont see how it changes anything except put more money in the boards pockets.

By the end of January we need:
Walcott to have signed a new contract.
A new LB (please anyone would be better than Santos)
A new backup GK
A strong CM (Wanyama/M'Vila)
Another striker.

Believable75 Unbelievable14

Yes to the left back
no to the goalkeeper
no to the defensive mid
yes to a striker

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we will possibly sign a striker. That is all.

When is the last time we bought more than one 1st team player in Jan? Genuine question - if we have, post.

I don't think Wenger is a fan of the window.

In Arsene I Trust.

Most would agree - unfortunately not the people who make the decisions.

Agree0 Disagree0

We need Ednison Cavani, M'Villa (hes french), and any goalkeeper

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard that John Ruddy will sign from Norwich in January

I have been watching a bit of lewis holtby lately, there is quite a few games and highlights on ESPN.

i think he would be a typical wenger signing and i believe he would be a good edition to squad, especially if the rumour of rosicky moving on.

Believable32 Unbelievable5

From what i've seen he is good but nothing special, no better than Ramsey really, don't get me wrong I like Ramsey as well but don't get excited about watching him play

Agree0 Disagree0

I love Holtby, he was destined to be Germany's next starlet, alongside Aaron Hunt of Werder Bremen, and Sidney Sam of Leverkussen.

Whilst the other two, have sort of fallen at the wayside, Holtby has been hampered by the odd injury, and the rise on prominence of Julien Draxler, who is rated incredibly highly by schalke, and a lot of Germafootball figures.

(This next not, i imagine most of you know, but ill put it for those who don't) Holtby can play on the left wing, and as a central midfielder however his preferred position is, a position like Santi plays for us now, just ahead of the midfield, but behind the striker, allowing him to feed players out wide, play in the striker, and occasionally have a pop at goal.

To be honest Charlie, while I'd say he's better than Ramsey (at the moment), if Rambo can get back to the standard that excited us all when he was first here, I think he'd eclipse Holtby's potential, but that's a big if.

That said, with my love of Holtby, and my hopes for Ramsey, player I want in our first team is Thomas Eisfeld.

Hi Eds,

I have seen a couple of times that you have mentioned we have confirmed striker targets....... forgive me if you have already done so, but can you tell me who they are?

Thanks
Louis1913 {Ed002's Note - This is what I typed (Albeit off the top of my head): Arsenal have an interest in a striker still and have certainly looked at Adrian Lopez, Lewandowski, Negredo, Shakhtar Donetsk's Adriano (as a cheaper option to Damiao). There has also been interest shown in Udinese's right back Dusan Basta. In midfield I think the club made a mistake not pushing ahead with the purchase of Wanyama in the summer but Benat has been looked at recently. There has also been a little interest in the likes of Markovic, Lars Bender, Konoplyanka and Hatem Ben Arfa but I cannot see anything coming to fruition there and it is likely more wishful thinking than anything serious. It is hard to see what interest remains in the likes of M'Vila, Llorente, Dragovic and Wanyama who were all previously of interest. I understand that interest in Holtby is still there and clearly there is interest in Zaha.}

Believable16 Unbelievable2

I would love to see Benat playing at Emirates. Such a class player.

edoo2 braga's EDER is there any interest from arsenal?

champagne charlie {Ed002's Note - There was but I don't know of any recent interest - both Arsenal and Liverpool looked at Eder last year when he was playing for Academica. He only moved to Braga this summer.}

As we all know that Arsenal is strugling with goalkeepers,Arsen Wenger is setting the eye on the South Africa goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune

Believable1 Unbelievable9

HOW CAN YOU SAY THIS?? our number 1 is the best since lehmann... maybe even seaman. wojech schenzy is young, however id put him only behind hart, cech and reina.

give the kid a break. hes going to be number one for a while.

a back up goalkeeper is a good idea. however i do think mannoe proved he can fill that slot, until a team wants him as thier number one.

edoo2 i got a phone call tonight that are striker target could be loric remy, have you heard anything?

champagne charlie {Ed002's Note - Chelsea, Spurs, Newcastle and Lille have shown varying degrees of interest in Loic Remy but there have been no approaches to Marseille regarding Remy from Arsenal unless something has actually happened today - if I remember and have time I will check in teh morning. Remy would perhaps be interested in a move to England but his recent form has been poor and Marseille know it will be difficult to get a good price for the player. There was discussion with Chelsea about Remy during the negotiations over Azpilicueta but it came to nothing. Newcastle will likely make a low offer for Remy in January.

For me Arsenal have targets elsewhere as I explained - it seems possible but unlikely.}

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Ok cheers mate,i suppose we are getting to the time of year when names will be flying around like mad.

champagne charlie {Ed002's Note - I am told there has not been an approach from Arsenal to Marseille.}

as much as i love thierry henry - do we really need him in jan - i would prefer a 'younger' star coming in someone who will make a difference for the whole season rather than a few months. if henry wants to come back we will take him with open arms but why not as a coach or motivator - give us that winning mentality because he loves the club like us.

GS

Believable23 Unbelievable6

Agree completely....although I want us to sign him the day before he retires so he retires a Gunner

I know where you are coming from but if Henry comes back to fill in for 'five head' while he's at the African nations then all good by me. He'll prob still be more of a goal threat.
Winchy gooner.

Agree0 Disagree0

Henry is performing well in the MLS. Also if you remember he won us 2 games last season in his short stint. Having Henry around helps motivate the other players as he is a true legend for us. He will not play every game but he can help when needed.

Henry is an arsenal legend, he'd be insane to have back again
