media reporting carzola has passed his medical and is traveling with squad to germany! Come on you gunners....quality signing. This guy will add a much needed tempo to our game as well as goals, set pieces and an eye for a past.

Believable46 Unbelievable8

He passed his medical last week. Where have you been, in a coma?

Agree1 Disagree1

What media?

Agree1 Disagree0

Cazorla spotted the Tudor period before it was famous

Agree0 Disagree0

Really ed? My comment on 'eye for a past' was rejected but another one got through?

Clearly my pun-based humour needs work

Agree0 Disagree0

I will only believe it once its on Arsenal.com

Agree0 Disagree0

These three players must be good for us with 57 goals between them last season and 23 assits

Cazorla is a defo done deal
Sahin will be signed just waiting for wages to be confirmed as we are still Negotiating who pats what percentage of his wages and rvp will be offered a new contract which if he doesnt sign this time he will defo be sold.
We should know whats going on in the next 48 hours for sure.
Aah

Believable40 Unbelievable7

Everyone and their Aunty knew about Cazorla last week, as for Sahin, he's going back to Turkey.

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone else think this has been a very long 48 hours? and now we are just 48 hours away! few at least we are making progress

Agree0 Disagree0

Sahin is not going back to turkey just wait n see
Aah

Agree0 Disagree0

When has Sahin ever played in Turkey apart for the national team?

Agree0 Disagree0

I now hate the term 'in 48 hours'.... An Arsenal fans famous last words.

Carzola, Podolski, Giroud AND RvP all travelling to Germany for pre season camp and game against FC Koln. Wenger wants serious money for RvP or he stays.
Due to fly out very soon.
Inside Gooner

Believable66 Unbelievable19

Do we want RvP to stay.. he has made his comments about my Club, about not wanting to sign a new contract - Just remember not one of Darren Dein players have signed a new contract at AFC and Song is on his books - again that's why all this stuff is now coming out about Barca - he will be next.......
lets just keep this p*ick Dein away from the Club

Agree2 Disagree0

Highly doubt Cazorla would travel with the team when he hasnt even been announced a Gunner

Agree1 Disagree1

How do you know they are?!

Agree0 Disagree0

How can you say cazorla has travelled?

real-goon?

Agree0 Disagree0

Prove it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Song isn't a client of Dein!

Agree0 Disagree1

Cazorla is travelling with them. Fact. It has also been confirmed on BBC sport and he will also be unveiled on arsenal.co. tomorrow. Fact. Tony.

Agree0 Disagree0

Daily mail confirm Cazorla is in Germany

Agree0 Disagree1

06 Aug 2012 22:01:43
Song isn't on Dein's books, do your homework, I don't even think RVP is.

However, this is not the first time I have heard Cazorla is going to Germany - the match isn't til the 12th so no reason why he'd sit at home waiting for his club to ok the deal when we all know it's done, he can train with the lads and we'll see him play for us next weekend.

In fact I don't get why so may people have disagreed- Giroud, Pod and RVP are all dead certs and reports are flying out all over the place that Santi is with the squad in Germany when they go/went.

Metal Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Alex song, Gael Clichy and Adebarndoor are all represented by Kick and Run Sports Agency. Checked out their site and they've got some wicked players on their books Alcantara, Alves etc

Exo

Agree0 Disagree0

Its on the BBC website! Apparently set to be confirmed for less than 15 million

Agree0 Disagree0

There really are some 'muppet-know-nothings' on this site. Cazorla will be in Germany and the deal was 99% done last Friday.

hi
can someone tell me what has happened with yossi benayoun?
has he left, or staying.
thanks {Ed002's Note - He returned to Chelsea and Fulham have just turned down a move for him.}

Believable19 Unbelievable9

Hes back with chelsea and has been fo a while

Agree0 Disagree0

He had a great loan spell with A.F.C
Wenger should buy him

Agree0 Disagree1

I kind of hoped we'd buy him. He wouldn't cost much, be happy to be a sub, great back up and gave his best almost every time he stepped onto the field for us.
Kickemon

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with kickemon,s comment yossie would be a great buy even if the guy was back up super sub, either way he suited our style of play and fit in just nicely. and to continue from the last comment im surprise he wasent signed up after he gave 100 percent every time he played.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he's a great player, but I'm imagining Arsene would only want him offered a 1 year contract with his age and the salary would be much lower than that of Chelsea's current deal with him. Having said that I'm not sure how long he has left on that current deal, might just be one year.
Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

He's not good enough for a title winning side.

Wayama not coming to us unfortunately because he has signed a 4 year contract at Celtic

Little Gooner

Believable19 Unbelievable29

BS. he is coming, he has been offered a 4 year contract, but arsenal are in ngotiations with celtic over a fee belueved to be 7 mill

Agree0 Disagree0

7million lmao what u buying the right or the left side of wanyama

Agree0 Disagree0

These Celtic fans make me laugh, thinking any player in the SPL is worth any more than £7million. You're not proven of you play in the SPL. Cs josh

Agree0 Disagree0

Players in the EPL overrated by far and over priced by 10 times. And you are moaning about 7m for big vic, he is worth twice that amount ffs, for example Andy Carroll 35 million ooooofftt and the rest of the overrated pish.

Agree0 Disagree0

Regardless of whether he has signed a new contract or not, it wouldn't stop a club from making a bid for said player. Just look at Thiago Silva. Signed a new deal one month, then sold to PSG the next. It's a tool to give the potential selling club the upper hand in negotiations. And to line the pockets of several agents no doubt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nikica Jellyfish joined Everton last year and rattled in 9 goals in 13 starts. The EPL isn't all that good. Wanyama would walk it. I think that He's rated highly in Italy as his brother McDonald Mariga plays for Inter.

Ignassi Miguel to go on loan to Malaga for a season. On t***ter so taken with a pinch of salt but I think it would be a great experience for the kid if it went through

Believable26 Unbelievable5

If this is makeweight for the Cazorla deal then go for it. I'll be really gutted if Cazorla doesn't come to Arsenal this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

If this is true it might explain the delay in the Cazorla deal being finalised

Agree0 Disagree0

From the clip I read this morning it was put across as a seperate issue. Not fussed if it's part of the deal I just want Cazorla in Red n White and the kid to get more first team experience

I heard a while back that Van Persie will end up at Man U, with Hernandez coming to Arsenal. This makes sense as Hernandez is an Arsenal style player & United would need to sell forwards. They would have RVP, Rooney, Welbeck, Berbatov (probably departing) & Powell.

Believable13 Unbelievable61

No you are wrong

Agree0 Disagree0

Powell is a midfielder and Van Perise and Rooney can both play wide too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hernandez is not an Arsenal type player he can't pass he can't dribble.

Clg

Agree0 Disagree0

Hernandez is awful, cant touch a ball to save his life, Arsenal type player??, he is just a poacher, Wenger likes his strikers getting involved with play, Chicharito has the tactical awareness of a donut.

Agree0 Disagree0

We will not get hernandez in exchange for rvp

Agree0 Disagree0

Hernandez your having a laugh....lots of talk about RVP, for start dont believe Mancini as soon as AFC expect a offer ManCity will match it

Agree0 Disagree0

If he goes man utd we should do a deal involving Valencia smalling

Agree0 Disagree0

Who did you hear that from? Your mum or the dialy mail both sources are fairly unreliable

Agree0 Disagree0

Fergie has stated he sees Powell's future as a centre mid. Getting rid of Berbatov gives them RVP, Rooney and Welbeck as the impact sub. Chicarito is a great 4th choice to be fair.

In Arsene I Trust.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hernandez is NOT a gunner style player. He's a one-touch poacher, not a playmaker.

MxGunner21

Agree0 Disagree0

Man utd fan in peace here. your spot on about hernandez, cant pass, cant dribble, terrible touch! great finisher though, when youv got players like valencia and giggs who can deliver a good ball then he can be quite usefull, its just a shame youv got walcott

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2012 10:04:11
I have feeling that we are holding back on announcing the signing of Cazorla & Sahin, to coincide with the sales of Van Persie and possibly Song or Walcott. We have spent approx £40m on Giroud, Podolski & Cazorla. Which we will recoup by selling Van Persie £20m, Vela £3m, Bendtner £6m, Chamakh £5m, Lansbury £2m, Park £1m, Arshavin £5m. In order to make a transfer profit I believe either Walcott or Song will depart, possibly both for a combined £35m. We will then sign a def mid replacement for approx £10 - 15m, leaving a £20m ish surplus.

Believable25 Unbelievable68

I have a feeling, you should lye down.

Agree1 Disagree1

You read this on just arsenal but I don't agree with it what you need to think about is players can only leave if someone pays the asking price.

Clg

Agree1 Disagree0

Money spent will have been last years profit and there will have been more funds available for this seasons market

Agree0 Disagree0

Vela was sold for 6 mil plus walcott and song are going no where anytime soon so I say wrong

Pant

Agree0 Disagree0

Rubbish. Song and Walcott will not be moving anywhere. Your already assuming Park, Arshavin, Lansbury & Bendtner will be sold. This is even looking unlikely and probably going to be loan signings.

Agree1 Disagree0

We shouldn't need to recoup anything we made nearly £70 million with the sales of fab nasri and eboue

Agree1 Disagree0

Walcott is indispensable

Agree0 Disagree3

The club sold some land they purchased a while ago, think they sold it in April and didn't want to wait to develop it. The sale roughly made the club £22 million I have read, there isn't any balancing act this year!

Agree0 Disagree0

Silly comments to my original comment. Arsenal is run as a business & Wenger stated we aim to make £20m profit a season. We are not going to do this any longer without selling players & Van Persie wont sign a new deal, so £15m plus will be accpeted. Walcott has year left & Song two years. Assuming we sign Cazorla permanently & Sahin for a season, as well as the def mid we have been looking for, we will have way too many midfield players.
Squad:
G: Szczesny, Fabianski & Martinez
FB: Sagna, Jenkinson, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Mertesacker, Djourou & Bartley
DM: New player, Arteta, Coquelin & Frimpong
Mid: Wilshere, Ramsey, Rosicky, Abu Diaby, Eisfeld & Sahin
WM: Oxlade C, Cazorla, Gervinho & Miyaichi
Att: Giroud, Podolski & new player
Plus youngsters...
In: Cazorla £17m, Podolski £11m, Giroud £12m, New DM £7m, new striker £7m & Sahin loan = £54m
Out: Vela £3m, RVP £20m, Walcott £18m, Song £15m, Bendtner £6m, Chamakh £5m, Lansbury £1n, Park £1m & Arshavin £5m.Total £74m

Agree0 Disagree0

Plus the £30m that Arsenal made from the Queensland Road(?) project sales are not needed at all

Agree0 Disagree0

Money from the final sale of property was used

Agree0 Disagree0

"Walcott is indispensable" is this the same player who cant control the football

Agree0 Disagree0

20 million profit isn't taken out of the transfer kitty mate. your the one posting stupid posts.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats not how money works in football

Agree0 Disagree0

Before you make inane comments, have a look at how Arsenal have functioned financially since the move from Highbury. We are not about to throw money at players. By the time the window closes, we will have spent virtually nothing. Look at last season....

Agree0 Disagree0

The original comments are fair. The new signings will be paid for my sales. As he states we have spent around £40m. We will recoup it from sales.

Agree0 Disagree0

All you have done is invented a load of figures and pulled them out of your backside. "New striker 7million". Where did you get this information other than the top of your head? This is absolutely the worst type of post.

Agree1 Disagree0

You've just made all of this up.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Mil for song? who is this person.

Agree0 Disagree0

The original poster doesn't know his Arsenal from his elbow and I suspect is yet another attention seeker.

Agree0 Disagree0

Here's an idea guys: we sign VDW, as back up for Sagna, we get Bould to sort his defensive responsibilities(his attacking is already great), then when Bac becomes say 35, we use VDW in the first team, hopefully great in attack and defence. Or we could do the same with coquelin to save money.
Harry

Believable7 Unbelievable44

When Bac is 35 Vdw will be about29.

Clg

Agree0 Disagree0

Your talking about them as if they are objects, as if we can force them to get better

Agree0 Disagree0

By the time Sagna is 35 VDW will be 30. Bould cannot magically turn every bad defender into a good one.

Agree0 Disagree1

I don't think many fans would complain about this idea but it would mean VDW waiting until he was 30 for first team football... Not too sure how keen he'd be about that

Agree0 Disagree0

If it was that easy we could just keep jenkinson and develop him.

Agree1 Disagree0

Given Wenger's track record with players who are over 30, do you seriously believe Sagna will play for us until he's 35?

Stezza.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bergkamp, Keown, Adams, Dixon, Bould and Winterburn played for Arsenal well into their 30s. Lauren might have done if he not have got injured (and was not the same player after). Sol would have had he not chosen to move to Portsmouth.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's a nice idea but won't ever happen. Van Der Wiel would not want to be wasted and Sagna has quite a few years left in him until he's 35.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sagna will still be playing first team for arsenal at the age of 35 because he is amazing

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea fantastic idea ... NOT! Thats a stupid idea so we buy a player who is 24 and has played over 200 games for Ajax or Holland and we wait until he is over 30 years old to play him!? Hes already good enough to play him now when sagna is injured and then when Sagna is fit to play we should be looking for VDW to compete and go toe to toe with him for a starting role in the team.

every1 saying we dont need defenders, yes kos, v, sag and gibbs all good but no1 to back them up, dou is he worst player ever and the big german is awful in our league, im not moaning this summer about no signings as the 1s been made are amazing but i feel we need a good solid back up centre back, some1 like alex who chelsea got rid of. looking for a defensive mid would have been sorted if we got scott parker for 5 mil last year what a miss that was

Believable18 Unbelievable35

Dont judge Mert after 1 season. He will come good just like Kos did. He is a german international.

Marty

Agree1 Disagree0

We have our defenders in place & I dont see us signing any more. AS for Parker, extremely overrated, player who will be 32 in October. He finished 4th with the Toot, whilst we finished 3rd, with out him!

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are gooners intent on slagging off Big Per. Whenever I've seen him play, he's been remarkably composed and his ball distribution has been spot on. Yes, he's been out jumped and also out turned on a few occasions but I do think his calm assurance has been very noticeable. Also, it was his first season and he was unlucky to get injured on that bog when he did, as he was having a good run.
Neither Adams, Bould or Keown were blessed with pace but none of them were subjected to the same negative support as the German.
Dare I say it, his positional discipline is better than that of Vermaelen, who can be caught in no mans land far too often. My first choice CB pairing would in fact be Per and Kos.

Slick Mick

Agree1 Disagree0

Scott Parker? No thanks!
Ypsigooner

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with every point Slick Mick has made. Furthermore, I think Vermaelen has all the attributes needed to be world class in the midfield pivot role.

VL79

Agree0 Disagree0

Give Mertesacker another year before you judge him. You don;t get that many caps for Germany without being a good player.
Lots of teams don't have a specific defensive mid anymore, and if we need one, what about Frimpong?

Agree1 Disagree0

Scot parker is an awesome player and a bargin at 5 mil but no doubt if we were interested in him at the time the price would have been doubled its the same with all top clubs, look at poor andy carrol, newcastle joked about letting him go the year before for 1 mil and liverpool came in after selling torres with a 35 mil bid, any 1 else outside the big teams 3 mil max

Agree0 Disagree0

The original poster is spot on. Parker & Alex should have been ours and if we'd bid for them they would have signed. Mert, he spends more time on his back than a t**t. As for the muppet claiming Scott Parker is over-rated..you clearly know nothing about football. Truth is, AW more often than not gets it wrong with defenders and gk's, pretty much the reason we've won nothing for so long. Let's hope Steve Bould gets to shake things up.

Agree0 Disagree0

No, the original poster is not 'spot on'! Most of the criticism of Mert revolves around cliches, but really don't match up with actually watching him play. It's typical to read this nonsense from 'supporters', and it happens with fashionable predictability. Mert, Ramsey, Walcott, Song, Gibbs etc.

I think alot of people have the idea that a football squad can become a 'perfect' entity, like it can in a fifa or PES game. Name a squad in club football that doesn't have it's weak links? Name a team that doesn't have squad players? Does any player always hit the ground running at a new club, or never suffer a drop in form or get injured? The hatred some people show towards players at Arsenal is a disgrace, and is often a fantasy of your own football management knowledge.

Finally, Scott Parker is not over-rated I guess, but he's no where near good enough for Arsenal. He's brilliant at being incredibly limited. Just watching him at the Euro's confirmed his heart is greater than his ability. I gather that Wenger didn't rate Parker, even if he was a bargain. I think hindsight has proved him right this time.

Ned

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes the original poster is 'spot on' in my opinion, just because you don't agree doesn't make you right or more knowledgable about football. I do believe that Mert can become a good player in the EPL but at present he is not, he goes to ground too easy. And by the by I watched pretty much every minute of play from Arsenal's last season and have never played PES or FIFA.
Chriss 'not a Ned' Jones

Agree0 Disagree0

Scott Parker nowhere near good enough to play for Arsenal? Whereas players like Squid are?

Agree0 Disagree0

Well Chris, thanks for your considered response. You're right, my name does mean that most of my arguments are invalid. You only got me motivated to post because you called someone else a muppet in your first post!

Anyway; Squillaci, Stepanovs, Cygan etc are bad buys. Kos, Verm, Sagna, Lehman, Szczesny, Campbell, Toure etc are great buys. As a manager Wenger buys good defenders, but doesn't coach defensive teams. If the team isn't playing well, we can't always rely on a drilled back line to save us. That's his style, for better or worse. You also say that Mert will be a good for us, so why is he a bad buy?! He's a back up CB, I think we're lucky to have him.

Not sure why another poster is claiming that people who don't rate Parker really rate Squillaci? Obviously we've bought him when he's past it, and he's been awful for us. Still doesn't mean we should put up with a water carrier in midfield. Arsenal are a team that aim to beat the best, not aviod losing to the average. If you have Parker in your team you'll never beat the best. Give me Arteta in Parkers place any day, and a settles midfield that can use possession.

JUST MY OPINION! Obviously I think I'm right or I wouldn't bother.

Ned.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just realised that poster was asking the question about Parker/Squillaci from Wenger's perspective. Fair point. I guess he felt we had better options for midfield, and I obviously agree with him. Squid was bought to bring experienced cover to a thin back line, obviously he was wrong about this. Ned.

this is just my opinion and whether it is van der wiel or not i don't know but after the kitchee game wenger said the defence is not ready so i think he will sign at LEAST one defender if not another.

Believable6 Unbelievable16

I think that was more in reference to the younger players not being ready:
Miguel
Yennaris
Bartley(?)

We have 4 CBs and whether we like it or not, wenger is happy with our fullbacks.

Billybob

Agree1 Disagree1

The defence looks so poor because no protects it, I've played football and rugby and there is nothing harder than tackling someone running at full speed at you when your the last man.

Clg

Agree2 Disagree0

We definatly need more defenders

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on comment in respect of the defence. It looks poor, because Wenger plays a high line & a formation that doesnt cover the defenders. Chelsea tried it last season & we stuffed 5 past them, when they reverted to defending deep, we couldnt score against them in the home fixture. The last time we won a trophy we used the successful 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 formations. With the likes of Vieira & Gilberto proctecting the CB's & Parlour protecting the LB. In effect 3 of our 4 man midfield would protect the defence, with the 4th player being the attacking option, Pires. My favourite midfield was Parlour, Vieira, Petit & Overmars.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your man with the fave midfield of Parlour, Viera, Petit, & Overmars is telling it like it is. 99% of the people posting here are chatting sh*t and know nothing of 'the beautiful game' and wouldn't know their Arsenal from their elbow, the remaining 1% are I'd quite happily have a beer with.

While I would like to invest in VDW because he's a great RB; I don't think that's the area that most needs improving. If we sign him he'll want first team football, but once Sagna is fit he won't get a sniff. Should be signing a quality LB.

--Ryan

Believable26 Unbelievable16

Wherever did you get the notion that VDW is a "great" RB?

Agree1 Disagree1

Not impressed with his defending....over rated

Agree1 Disagree1

Gibbs and Santos have real talent as does Sagna but Jenkinson should go back to League 1 as he is no where near good enough. We need a RB for cover.
Chess

Agree0 Disagree0

I really think we need a new left back and would love Baines. gibbs is good but prone to injury and Santos is far too lazy and weak defensively.

There is strong interest in Walcott from Liverpool fc.

Believable23 Unbelievable45

My only concern if Walcott leaves is that Cazorla is his replacement and will b used on the wing instead of CAM

Why would he leave us to go to a less achieving club, though?

Believable46 Unbelievable9

It is definitely NOT on FIFA website. Rondon transfer is but that's nothing to do with Arsenal.

If you look on the article about rondon theres a bit at the end that said about cazorla signing two days ago. They may have changed this due to the arsenal fans going mental bit it was definitly there
