I read Ed001's response to Apex Predator. Surely something has changed since losing Gabriel as well. Right?
Also, I believe in Akpom. Just wanted to say that now, and not later once he's scored 20 for us.

However this is Arsenal, they will not be held over a barrel and just pay what clubs are asking. Prices have skyrocketed to English clubs this summer and Wenger is sticking to his guns and refusing to be ripped off. Which is making it nearly impossible to add someone.}

Given Roma's loan signing of Vermaelen, do you think this opens the door for Wenger to sign Manolas?
From a logical standpoint it makes sense. Wenger didn't bite the bullet and pay what was needed for Mustafi because he didn't rate him highly enough and instead was waiting for the dominoes to fall and make Manolas available, even if he will be a far more expensive signing.
Perhaps these are just the delusional thoughts of a Gooner who needs a lifeline as he is at risk of drowning in the smugness of United fans around him.
{Ed001's Note - with Chelsea also being interested, I doubt Arsenal will go near the price Roma would want to let him go. When there is interest from two English sides, the price always goes up.}

Akpom has the good habit of being in the right place at the right time, which can't be trained into a player. It may be worth including him in the first team squad this season and using him whenever it's practical, so he can gain experience.
