The irony of the situation with regards another Centre back, is Vermanleen was brought to replace Kolo Troure, Kolo Troure was sold because of his relationship - or lack of - with Gallas, until that situation, he was going nowhere.

At Man City and Liverpool he was exposed, hence the fact Man City sold him and Liverpool are looking to let him go, however he was and always will be an Arsenal man, should we not take him back on a short term contract?

1.) No. not for me. If he is not good enough for Man City, not good enough for Liverpool = not good enough for us, whether its for a 1 month, 1 day or 1 hour contract. let's look elsewhere.

2.) I agree epping. I really liked Toure while he was here and wished we had got rid of Gallas instead but he is long past his prime

The thing about Arsene, that seems to get lost, is that he is Loyal to the players who were loyal to him.............Arteta, Flamini - even though he did leave to return - Diaby - even though he was injured for must of his stay - Rosicky are all players who stayed when the others were leaving. And in my view he is keeping Arteta and Rosicky - especially- as a THANK YOU for their loyalty. So they can be part of a championship squad.

I do expect to see a quality defensive midfielder come in, though he has played Ramsey and Jack in that position during Pre Season.

I doubt we will see another striker, because Welbeck, Alexis, Walcott and Akpom can all play down the middle as well as down the flanks, Giroud is an excellent No. 9 and when fully fit, is a 20 goal a season man.

I like that fact that we have a settled squad, a great keeper, a back 4 who can defend as well as push forward, Metersacker and Kos will start as the pair in the middle with Dubcey and Gibbs on the flanks.....Couqulin and Santi in front of that 4 , Ozil - and this well be a massive season for him - at top with Alexis and IMO the Ox on the other flank..................

That leaves
Osprina

Walcott Gnarby/Rosicky

Welbeck

Arteta and Flimini will only play if we get any serious injuries or we don't get that defensive player we are after

I very much doubt a striker will be brought in as we have 7 forwards, most teams only operate with 4

Giroud and Campbell will be used as No.9

Alexis, Poldski, Walcott and Garnby on the flanks

Not forgetting Sangoo, who can play both and The OX who can play up front or in midfield

If need be Wiltshire and Ozil can also play the Berkemp No. 10 as well.

I can't wait to see Ozil feeding Alexis, if that works, pressure will be off the rest of the forwards, it will create more chances.

La La Giroud will get his 20 and IF Ramsey continues his form from last season, its looking good for some more silverware this season .

Thank you for the common sense post.

Its a FACT that IF we have signed anyone, it will NOT be revealed until after 8th July, the launch of the new Puma kit

I know this is a rumour page, but come on now fellas.

Jose is the master of 'stirring the pot', especially against teams he fears - which I believe he fears us for the title next season - IF Cecs was a REAL target for Chelsea, the selling of Mata, makes no sense, Chelsea have too many players of the same calibre. However the problem for Arsene is who dose not play if we buy him back, as Santa, Ozil, Jack and The Ox and Ramsey all will play major roles/minutes. Arsene still loves Diaby and Arteta and let's not forgot Flamini and our new raising star Zelalem - so IF Cesc is happy to be a role player - maybe cup games and the odd home bankers, why would he really come back to us, we have moved on. UNLESS he changes his game to be more defensive minded, which as he is getting older could be a possibility. I for one hope NOT to see him in another English team shirt, so I hope he remembers he is a GOONER. But I remember saying the same thing about a previous number 4 captain.

Zelalem, Gnarby Apkom will get starts this season - Carling Cup - that is for sure and if all 3 continue with their development each will be regulars, within 3 seasons. Zelalem is the one that has me most excited however, the boy can see a pass and more importantly, make it
