If one of our centre backs were to leave (Vermaelen), would we look to replace him and if so, who with?

which is a shame, I think he's good enough for a starting place in most prem teams, and could be a natural understudy to Mert, however I think he needs guaranteed staring 11 football

Ed, is the interest in Kouyate real, or media fabrication?
