Rumours growing in respect of signing Yannick Carrasco, which would be a decent signing, still only 25 years of age and will give us much needed width.
We are also being heavily linked with Sampdoria's Praet and Andersen, who at 25 and 23 years of age, along with Carrasco are confirming the clubs intention to sign younger players. Last summer 3 of the 4 long term signings were younger players. This bodes well for the future, especially if we can integrate some of our own talented youngsters into the first team squad, with FReddie having been promoted to a first team role, presumably to help in this respect. I would like to see us sign Fraser from Bournemouth and Meunier, but that sounds a tricky deal to pull off.

I agree and disagree mate, I also think we need older leaders in the team, I might be wrong but I think these 3 players are awful, we need better, but don’t have the cash for better.

The problem is that we have a limited budget and who what better options are realistically available for the 50 million euros the Sampdoria pair will cost? I am not sure what the price for Carrasco is, but it won’t be huge or we couldn’t buy him. As for the youngsters, I agree that it is extremely hard to integrate teenagers into the PL, but our finances leave us with no other option. The previous administration left a financial mess.

Better to promote from within if possible or buy from the lower leagues in England or even stick with what we have rather than just buy anyone you can afford Just for the sake of it.
Look at Suarez? No disrespect but what was the point on paying his wages and loan fee if we weren't going to use him or he wasn't better than what we had.
Whoever is brought in needs to improve us or better we wait until we have someone in to replace Sven who has an eye for a bargain.

Agreed Robbie,

I think the time to rebuild with youth is now.

Carrasco is a very talented player, but a risky signing due to his time spent in China and reported attitude problems. I still think we should take a punt on him, I still remember him causing us problems when he was at Athletico.

The Sampdoria duo could be a shrewd piece of business as well.

@AA23 You must be thinking of someone else, Carrasco wasn't at Atletico when we played them.

It seems an odd move (but then so was Suarez) . As a winger he's never been particularly prolific, and as a wing back for Belgium I don't think he offers us much different from Kola (attacking threat but defensively suspect - and would think Carrasco is probably an even more extreme case) .

Esp if his wages are in the £150k per week bracket it looks suspiciously like we could be lumbered with an (admittedly) decent player being paid twice what they're worth and being impossible to get of the wage bill if we need any re-sale value. Not overly excited for this one.

The four long term signings whist Mislintat was at the club have done well: Leno, Sokratis, Torreira and Guendouzi.
Whether Mislintat had any input into the loan signing of Suarez is debateable. In all honesty I didn't know Suarez, until we took him on loan. However, I watched any clips of him that I could find and I felt he wouldn't have the physicality necessary to play in the PL, which proved spot on.
I fail to understand the negative comments in respect of Carrasco, who us definitely a quality player and still, I belive only in his mid-20's. He will need to adapt his game, from playing in China, to playing in the PL.
Dennis Prate is definitely a decent player. I haven't seen much of Andersen, so I can't comment of his suitability.
