Why on earth so many of you think Rooney would be a bad signing? IMO I think he would be a great signing maybe just what we need to get us back to the top. I'm not saying he is going to score 50 goals next season but his work rate is unreal, he is versatile can play striker or just behind striker heck you could stick him in the mids and he will run his socks off. I would welcome him to our team any day! Unlike a lot of other players we have been linked with Rooney will add value to our squad and have an immediate impact. Slate me if you like but Rooney is a class player.

Anyone who knows anything about football knows Rooney could only be a good signing.

Would love to see a fit and determined Rooney playing for Arsenal.

Think the rumours are to good to be true though.

Pod. Rooney. Theo

Santi. Fab.

Capoue.

Gibbs. Per. Kos. Jenks.

Cesar.

Jack, Ox, Arteta, TV, Giroud, Rosicky, Rambo, Nacho, Sagna etc to supplement and rotate.

I don't like Rooney - hassling refs, diving etc but he works hard, gives us flexibility, works hard and knows how to win

All for it. Gibbs, Jenkinson, Wilshere, Walcott, Chamberlain, Rooney. Proper English core which has been proved essential to win the EPL in recent years. Rooney is a match winner and would make us genuine contenders next season. Its a good time to be a Gooner. First time in years we are talking about arrivals instead of departures.

of all the players we are linked with, others much more strongly, Rooney is who I personally hope we get.

i think he would turn out to be worth every penny if we broke the bank for him

Someone like Rooney is exactly what this team needs. People's memories may not serve them all that well, but when we signed Podolski, even in his first game he was bossing the players about on the pitch, explaining where he wanted passes etc, demanding quality from them. It's a winner's mentality and Rooney would whip the boys into shape in no time. If the mids are ignoring his runs he won't wait there politely and see what happens like Theo does with Sagna, he'd be in their face demanding better service because he knows he's good and he hates losing.

I am not the only fan who has felt as though the team doesn't seem bothered by a loss. You look at United when they lose, they almost don't want to leave the pitch because they know what's coming.

Even if you got none of that you'd still get his quality. For me, the biggest signing this summer won't necessarily be the player who costs the most or has the highest wages or the coolest hair or scores the most goals at their current team - it'll be the player that comes in and demands that everyone else plays better, right from the first whistle.

It's what Henry did as well when he came back. Instantly telling Song 'not there, pass it THERE', 'that ball wasn't good enough', he didn't clap the effort he clapped only good passes, that sort of striving for the highest standards. We are desperate for that at AFC and Rooney is definitely a player like that.

Rooney would bring to arsenal that 1 thing we have been missing for a long time! A winning mentality! that's what we need more than anything players who will not accept defeat

Top top player would walk into our team hard to admit but we need to take off our rose tinted glasses and realise his much better than what we have. As an arsenal and england fan would love to see him the ox walcott wilshere gibbs and jenko in the same team especially in a world cup year

If we could get the Rooney of about 4 years ago, I would take him no problem. Does anyone remember the goal United scored against us that was used on tv adverts for a while? They edited the ball out for effect.
Anyway, in that goal, Arsenal were on the attack, which subsequently broke down. In about 4 passes lasting a total of 5 seconds, United were at the Arsenal goal. My point in this is simple, during those 4 odd passes, Rooney made the most gut busting, determined sprint to get to the box. He ran past most of Arsenals retreating players. Upon arrival at the box, he scored the goal. Now, if we could get Rooney back to this level, mentally and physically, then he would be a world beater. Is it too much of a gamble? Maybe. would I like to chance it. definately. He 27 as of today, plenty of years left on his engine if we could get him fit again.

Rooney is a player, who for me is not mentally strong. He can never up his game.

His level of play is the same, at his best he is not even a top 10 player in his position.

he has many other attributes which I quite like, determination, never gives up, always working. However his potential has maxed and there is no more to him than what we see.

I would take him over Higuain and jovetic, but for 200k a week, and a possible liability, if we don't win things, and he asks for a transfer, we are stuck with that conundrum, i'd rather just go for higuain, who for me is a team player, someone who will play all out as he will want to be in the starting 11 for the world cup.

For me, taking any argentine striker, not named messi will be good, Aguero, higuain, lavezzi, di maria, will all be fighting it out for that spot upfront.
